Who you got winning the Finals and in how many games? Edit: Also, would like to apologize for not uploading in a little over a week. Was in the process of moving through the end of last week and all throughout the weekend. Today is the first day I've really been able to sit down and work again. Appreciate y'all being patient, excited to get back to it!
I think this playoff run has solidified if it already wasn’t solidified that erik spolstrea is the best coach in the league right now and caleb martin going from a solid role player in the regular season to at some points being the 2nd best player and regularly being the 3rd best player on the heat this series was one of the biggest reasons the heat won this series
@@behindthearcyt I saw a comment that said that ever since Steph didn't get FMVP in 2015, and how that affected his legacy and how people talked about him, now voters just give it to the best player on the winning team, unless there is a big numbers discrepancy. Like if the Nuggets win and Jamal Murray wins FMVP, then people will use that to dog on Jokic, even though he won a chip.
I think we are moving towards a type of basketball that relies more and more on adjustments and how you can react to each team. We’re seeing that stacking stars on a team isn’t enough without proper preparation.
Tbh Miami is the closest thing to European basketball culture and intensity. Some of those coaches wont tolerate shit and i respect them for that. Same with the Heat.
Learned from the best. People tend to forget that Spo was also one of the assistant HC during the 06' finals too. Lebron wanted Spo fired but Pat held on him. He saw something on Erik and trusted him.
I think this year also validates the play in tournament. Having a team make the Finals from the tournamnet shows that there is always a chance. It also breaks the narrative that teams in the tournament are "only playing to get swept in the first round."
I love seeing #8 vs #1 In a finals situation. Not a basketball fan, but found myself watching these playoffs and now the finals. Main reason I’m watching is the 1st vs 8th matchup. However, I’m also watching because the Warriors and the Lakers aren’t in the finals. Kinda got tired of those teams as soMeone who’s on the outside and has a hard time getting into basketball
They have a saying if you stay Ray you don’t have to get ready. It’s more than just finding guys and using them, it’s developing them and trusting them. Look at how many coaches were fired this season alone. Coach Spo has the final say in how his team is prepared and what plays to run and he’s been able to gain the trust of his players as a result. Most organizations can’t replicate Heat culture because as soon as there’s one bad season they jump ship. Heat culture is just as much learning through misery as much as through success. Most teams fail and give up for so long when they get a talented team, they don’t know how to win. The Heat reminds me of a college program where no matter who you are or what decade, their core identity is the same. Hats off the Heat. There’s proof that you don’t have to tank to be successful.
@@zilverman7820 why would them Lakers need to do that they need to neutralizing everything and always have to try win with a old lbj and injury prone ad
A lot of people talk about the Heat's zone which does cause a lot of problems. However, what doesn't get mentioned enough is when Coach Spo decided to pull out the zone. I remember there was like 35 seconds left in the half and the Celtics wanted to go for a 2 for 1, but the Heats pulled out the zone and prevented that opportunity. One of the most genius moves I've seen recently.
Spoelstra was the director of scouting before he became the head coach. He is knowledgeable in finding the strength of his players and using it at the appropriate time.
Holding the players that the sign and or draft accountable is a huge reason for their success. Coming in out of shape is a big no no for them doesn't matter who you are. Where as certain organizations let that stuff fly because they don't want to "upset" their players..
And that could be why they don’t really try to go after big stars and they play off role players because role players are a million times more humble and they play much better team-basketball vs just signing a bunch of stars and hoping it works
Oladipo was drafted at #2, but the point still remains. Also, I think Jimmy being drafted at #30 doesn't get talked about enough-he's essentially a second rounder
It’s crazy how in this era of heliocentrism, the upside of having an off ball game like with Curry or in this case Martin isn’t utilised by more star players. Makes a team so much more dangerous
Well said point at 2:42 about shot creation. Always say Miami's offensive style reminds me of Villanova. Dribble penetration heavy with emphasis on shooting when you have space
Very nice review, you said 29 GMs look into Miami Heat and try to understand what they did right? - I think it boiled down to consistency... every time a coach is replaced, a GM is replaced it sets them back a few years and when they are starting to have some success and failure - they look to replace the GM. Miami has that level of consistency, Spoelstra been the head coach for more than 13 years (let alone was in another capacity before that) - that is consistency right. Spoelstra has had a number of years with losing record season and despite that, Pat Riley stuck with him. And now, Miami is reaping the fruits of it's labour for years before... another is how Miami developed undrafted and scrub players but that is another story.
Best thing they did to Win these series is Trust to Each other Capacity as a Player and Coach best ability to make the right Play Defense or Offense... More Power to the Organization... rudyL...
To follow up on that Martin point about attacking off the catch, Klay Thompson himself had a 50 point game on 11 dribbles. It's definitely possible to be an efficient scorer if your fundamentals are sound, your confidence is right, and your team and coach have faith that you can make those kinds of shots. You can give your stars a rest for a couple of baskets on the court which always helps back on defense.
Ppl forget but a lot of fans wanted Spo to be fired after his first season. I think having any coach sticking with the same team, the same organization is going to end up better than this rotating carousel that most of the league is doing. Coaches can get better just like players.
I personally believe that Spo is the best coach of our generation, with Steve Kerr obviously being the only competition (I think coach Pop was better in the 2000s when his style wasn’t somewhat outdated)
My philosophy is that you don't motivate players with speeches; you have motivated players that you draft. That's where they come in, and those are the guys that are competitive. You can not teach competitiveness. Phil Jackson
Martin is basically in Jae crowder/P.j Tucker role which is to defend the opponents best player and knock down 3's. but he's too efficient and looks like a star player out there.
I’d lean the Nuggets but the Heat have defied all odds and expectations throughout the entire playoffs so I don’t even feel comfortable betting against them lol
when derrick jones jr declined the heat caleb took his spot he has the ability to defend, miami scouting player is good just like hassan whiteside era when the time he can't play miami let bam play and bam has a potential that's what heat culture is they want a player that can play undrafted or drafted just like kendrick nunn , when he decline miami he can't play now..because miami heat give their players confident to play not for the stats..
