Bro, I miss playing games on my brother’s old PS2. I remember just sitting up at like 4 in the morning with my TV volume down and playing games like Syphon Filter or Socom entirely because I wanted a “realistic” experience on the stealth sections. Fairly certain that sabotage and assassination do not involve looking like an Eskimo with how many blankets I was covered in but then again, don’t care, I was living my best life.

Fun fact, the first thing the creator of the Simpsons did when he played the game was kick Marge. The developers thought he might be upset about it so never told him it was possible to do that. He laughed and then spent the next few mins kicking random people.

Kicking Marge is canonically the first thing Matt did when he first tested the game and kicked her halfway across town before bothering to do anything else 😂
The best thing is that the devs were so afraid he was going to be appalled that the game allowed you, as Homer, to kick Marge, but Groening was so amused and entertained by it. Legend.

I only managed to complete that final mission when I was around 15/16 after numerous attempts starting from when I was 4 (including my mum's attempts). The rage about the camera angles, the AI, losing to 2 seconds was all worth it to know I did - and never will again omg that final mission feels like a new age torture device
I remember I never could beat the last mission. Ended up giving away the game and my PS2 at one point. Then years later I bought a refurbished one and a copy of this game. Finally was able to beat it
after having the same experience when I was way younger, I was so intent on beatin the game that I stayed up way too late and my mum came into my room as I finished the 2nd of the final 3 missions. I turned off my PS2 asap ... while the game was saving . needless to say I lost all motivation to relive the torture after all that

The last mission is genuinely so hard that after all these years I saw it my dream (nightmare?) one night and set out to finish the game and settle this for my poor subconscious. Took me a whole afternoon to do it but alas I did it. It's not only you kevin, devs were up to something there for sure.
Apparently from what i heard in another video about the development they were rushed to finish when they were still not halfway through the last level and were forced to just do the last missions the way they are because of it
I know I spent way too many hours to beat that mission too. That tight of a time limit on such a finicky vehicle was definitely designed by someone who wanted to make children cry. Anyways, great game; glad I grew up with it.

Never had much problem with the last level when I was 7.
When you do a 100% run, it's much, much easier. You already know all the tricks and shortcuts from races and whatnot.

Apparently when the developers showed the game to Matt Groening he kicked Marge all the way to the Kwik E Mart. From memory Set to Kill is the hardest mission in the game by a wide margin. Huh that went pretty well for Kevin. The last few missions do give you your time back if you destroy the barrel so it’s somewhat forgiving
It's not just you, Kevin. That grandpa mission at the end was the ultimate final boss of the game. It was like my Sephiroth to my Kingdom Hearts.

The fact that this is another hour long video means that this is the best Simpsons movie sequel by far.
OH MAN the carnage was unreal. Me and my best friend would die laughing the entire time we played. No missions or story progression, just a never ending assault where there was no hope for the sweet release of death.
I used to love playing this game as a kid, Homer’s Duff Beer missions and terrorising Grandpa at the Elderly Folks Home playing as Bart, is among some of my favourite memories playing this game 😂. I love seeing Kevin relieving our childhoods. He should seriously consider playing some of the older Splinter Cell games.

God, I want to play this game again so badly. I never did finish it as a kid - the last level difficulty spike was huge (at least to me back then)! Of all the games that deserve a remake, or hell - even a remaster, this has to be in the top 10.
I never managed to finish ANY of the missions, but I still loved it to bits
You can find it pretty easily online. There’s even a lancher that make it play at 1980*1080. It did not get old
@@anaionescu8913 it took me like a year as a kid to get anywhere close to progress and got stuck on the final three missions, I picked it back up not too long ago as an adult and I 100%ed the game in just a few days.
I couldn't make it past one of the Apu missions as a kid! And I didn't want to skip lol, I was like THAT'S FOR QUITTERS 😂 So I never finished it loooool

@@nonacrina same boat with agoraphobia and anxiety here, trying to get out every day but the overwhelming sense of dread and doom combined with struggling to breathe and feeling paranoid just makes it so difficult. it sucks when you try hard to get better but the average person has no idea how difficult it is to overcome these things. i think some people think "it's normal to be anxious" without realising that standard anxiety isnt the same as an anxiety disorder or agoraphobia or similar disorders.

this was my absolute favourite game growing up. i never completed any of the quests, mainly because i was like 7 and didn't understand games, but because kicking marge and other random people about was much funnier. very fond memories
100% with Kevin on this one, the last level and last mission was super hard as a kid to do, I just remember trying and trying and getting so frustrated I ended up getting banned from my playstation a few times 😂. went back replayed this a couple of years back and fully completed it never knew how close I was to fully finishing it back when and that's more annoying haha.
Oh my god I remember the nuclear waste runs with grandpa in this game. Burned into my mind from insisting this was impossible. I remember getting it and just dropping my controller in relief. Also, completely agree that this story was so out of left field. Love the game, cult classic, and I'm in the cult.

Him stepping out of a cutscene just to immediately get flattened by a car was delightful.
Fun fact, when they started making this game and Matt Groening came to have a test play the makers of the game didn't mention the kicking feature in case it upset Matt and he cancelled the game. When he found the feature he proceeded to kick Marge all the way from the Simpson house to the quickie mart

I beat the game 100% as a kid, but man did it make me mad. That last mission and the one you had difficulties with on Apus level were sooo brutal for me as a kid. Also, you CAN fall off of that top part as a kid, I actually had to take a break of how mad that made me.

The best part of the game, kicking people and tearing around in the supervillain's car. Ignoring quests and pedestrians.
I played through this game earlier this year and I had 2 breakdowns trying that last mission even WITH CHEATS ON so i wouldn't take damage. I did it eventually though :D

This game is brutally hard towards the end, and I remember as a kid me and my brother were in love with it so much that I decided to unlock everything, without cheats. The grind for the money/races is surreal, especially with no guide for boxes and stuff.

Marge's run is kinda terrifying. Not just because she's faster then everyone else, but her run animation makes her look like she trying to grab someone. Imagine walking through a forest at night and seeing her run towards you like that.

Willie running around at 1:09:25 is a reference to a treehouse of horror episode.
It’s winter and homer accidentally turns the furnace on while willie is sitting next to it, which catches him on fire and he then curses the town

i love watching you play simpsons hit n run, you should do a playthrough with all the cheats on it’s basically like chaos mode because one of my favourite cheats would make cars explode on impact and it makes some of the missions impossible to complete 😂😂

We NEVER completed this game because of the one at around 52:50 😭😭 I remember one occasion where I finally collected all the items and we all nearly cried when the mission updated to “go back to the DMV” and I had about 5 seconds on the counter 😭😭
So glad I finally get to see the end of the game and very pleased that the storyline remains as chaotic as the rest of it

It's hilarious to me how they put stuff that would normally be a boss in other PS1 and PS2 games (the giant monster truck, the living skeleton, etc.) exclusively into cutscenes
Like they _tease_ you about a boss fight, but then it's just nothing and you go right back to jank driving

YEEEESSSS, I wanted a full playthru of this game so badly! The last time Kevin did this game a ton of it was skipped and it's an iconic game honestly. Kevin, this game was absolutely impossible as a kid and I still have a hard time beating the levels now so it's definitely us and not the game.

Holy shit. I never in all my playthroughs clocked that the annoying barrier on the docks is a reference to the entire trees being used to make singular bowling pins. I finally feel at peace for all the times I've wrecked myself trying to get through that alley now.
This was, genuinely, as hard as it feels. I could never do it. Incidentally, to this day I just randomly quote this game like at least 3x a day.

A lot of the difficulty we associate with this game probably comes from the fact we all played it as kids. When I played it again recently it wasn't nearly as hard as I remembered
Somehow, I managed to get 100% on this game back in the day. Watching this video, and remembering how tricky some of the missions were, I have absolutely no idea how I had the time or patience.
The key to doing this as a kid was to find the exploit that hitting "select" resets your car to the nearest road, so at the end of every risky jump was to press select before you land and it prevents all hard impacts.

1:09:27 Willy being on fire is a reference to one of the Holloween specials where Homer disregards a note saying *Do not touch Willy* and turns a dial to up the heat of the freezing school during a parents meeting. This causes the fire to spill out all over Willy where he was sitting in the basement. Everyone comically disregards Willy when he runs up to scream for help and he burns to death, citing he would kill all of their children in their dreams with his last words
One of the first video games I ever loved as a kid. The Halloween level was always my favorite, but the missions were brutal to finish.
