I have 2 Grendel’s a 22 inch and a 16 inch. Both Wilson combat barrels. Both shoot great, but the 16 inch is definitely handier. That being said I have been shooting wood chucks with an ar 10 20” and a banish 30. 91 killed this year. 110 vmax handload
I use my YHM Turbo K for my 6ARC . I cannot remeber the actual internal bore diameter but its definitely 0.250 or higher but also not 0.264 . Buddy told me his SOCOM RC2 is 0.280 bore diameter. I've also had extremely good luck with BA Premium Black Series barrels for 556n , 6ARC and 308. I also have Faxon match 6ARC 1in8 Twist barrel that shoots very well with Black 105g and 103g ELDX. I have 12.5 6ARC thats an awesome little carbine . 16" is probably my favorite all around 6ARC barrel length.
What's the overall weight? I'm looking to build one for backpack deer hunting. If you want another 6arc video idea, I'd love to see a lightweight backpack build weighing short barrel vs longer, folding stock v non, etc. Great job loving binging watching and catching up on your content.
Definitely want to hear about the recoil impulse on the Superlative piston system vs your other 16in DI guns with the same loads. Came, very close, very recently, to doing a piston setup on a 16in Proof build but decided to stick to what we know. 🤓
Recoil impulse is more harsh than a traditional "DI ar15". But nothing quite like a ln OEM piston AR like pws. Hope that helps. (all my experience is in 5.56 , no 6arc )
Have you tried the Vltor A5 buffer tube length and buffer of a DI system with the 6 arc? If so, how did it go...and was it on a mid-length or a longer gas system?

I think you guys have me talk into a 6 arc.... I have also been thinking about getting a Robinson xcr... have you guys messed around with the xcr? It has a 1-8 twist for the 14.7-16" barrel... they also have a 12" barrel i wouldn't be opposed to...
Hey wade can we get an update on this 6arc? Curious on how you’re liking the piston and all. I’m currently running a grendel and getting ready to build a more precision focused ar in either 6 arc or maybe the new 22arc and trying to decide how I wanna set it up.
I just built my first ar and went with the 6arc for hunting. I used the Gibbs Arms upper and lower, Superlative arms piston kit rifle Length And the Silent capture buffer system By armor spec. And it shoots like a dream. Super quiet, and smooth as butter.
@@richardlane2687 This was my first AR build as well. I went with an Odinworks 21" barrel, their long MLOK handguard, their adjustable gas block, and their BCG. The lower is from Spikes, with a generic small parts kit and a LaRue MBT2S Straight trigger. I'm running the JP silent capture system in a Magpul PRS GEN 1. It's topped off with the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 5-25X50. It's more of a target rifle than anything else.
Any chance you got to pin gauge or generally measure the gas port diameter on that mid length? Of my 4 ARC gas guns I have a faxon 16” mid length non adjustable gas block that was my favorite before giving it to a good friend. I have another 18” that is mid length that I absolutely hate, even after putting an adjustable gas block on it. I cannot wait to pull that barrel & turn it into a tomato stake. I haven’t checked yet but with how drastically different those uppers function with the same ammo I suspect there is some wide variations in gas port size.
A substantial amount of AR knowledge here. Almost zero 6 arc knowledge though. Why does mid length gas system cause a problem with 6 arc ? Not enough time for powder to burn? I dont get it?

I'm glad I got a 6mm ARC in a bolt gun. 62,000 PSI all the way.
