One strategy using multiplayer would be to roll jump before the DK drum and dismount DK midair with Diddy, would get across this gap. Nine times out of 10, it won't work, but you have a tiny chance to grab the ledge, but it can be tricky

You know, now that this episode is out setting people's expectations, you could make a series of minimalist runs to see what the fewest bananas possible would be for each game. I'd be here for that new content :)

now this would be the vid to make, sadly in the vid itself Tropical Freeze is shown to be impossible due to the split path area.
The second stage can actually be beaten in DKC 2 without collecting bananas by either hopping off the insect at the beginning, or doing a somewhat precise slide-crouching motion.
I've been waiting for you to try this challenge! I'm really glad to see you doing new and cool challenges that aren't just Mario! Keep up the good work Nico!

I'm shocked he went through all this for one video. Let alone the fact that he just posted a Short explaining that you can beat DKC 3 using a trick to make it Christmas themed, turning the bananas into ornaments - thereby making this challenge possible in that game. I can't believe he didn't utilize this trick for this challenge, seems very overlooked to me lol
The trick is funny, but beats the spirit of the challenge so I get why he left it out!
@@gilded_lady but it seems like an exclusive to the third game, so why put in the effort to play the following games, if he can just build it up until that moment, seemingly a fail on all sides, but then swoop in with the trick that would save the entire video

You can actually beat the first game without collecting a banana. But you have to use glitches to achieve this...

I'm glad you are doing DK. Hope you continue the series with the minimum required bananas.
In DKC3 you could have kept going with well placed throws.
That'd take ages though, there are so many bananas in every level, finding the optimal path through all of them would take months and typing down how many bananas were collected would be a pain in the first place.
I'd assume there would be a couple hundred bananas for each DK if done in the best way possible.
That's interesting to see. I would also be interested if you try to beat the story mode of Splatoon 1 and 2 without touching the Calamari eggs or whatever they are called but I hope it's clear what I mean. Because of Splatoon 3 which maybe has a story mode just like the two previous games.

Donkey Kong Country Returns brings back so many memories
These Kongs are making sure you get their bananas back
Donkey Kong Land I, II and III are stand-alone games and not just GameBoy ports. In fact, each Land game is a direct sequel to its Country counterpart.
DK64 is the direct follow-up of the DKC and DKL trilogies, and thus part of the DKC series.
There are notable differences between DKC123 and its demakes for GBC and ports for GBA- maybe you'll have some luck with those over the SNES trilogy.
The same can be said about DKCR for Wii and 3DS, and DKCTF for Wii U and Switch.
As much as I disagree, officially Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is also a "main DK platformer". I'd say give it a whirl.
...I don't think the Jungle Climber games enjoy the same "official recognition" as Jungle Beat, but they *are* platformers... technically.

Nico, you must've not known this for DKC2, but there's a Glitch that allows to jump infinitely with the Tag Move (exclusively on v1.0, I'd suggest seeing the "Versions Differences" video); by jumping on the frame as the second Kong comes back on your shoulders, you can jump in midair, this could allow you to dodge the bananas in the second level and other thereon out. But I did not took into account the rest of the levels, just that this could maybe work later down the line too.
But beating all DK titles without touching a single COIN should be possible, right?

Mario can go a whole game without coins but Donkey Kong can't go one level without a banana? That's epic, it means Donkey Kong collects what he wants and doesn't have to worry about losing his bananas and I see this as an absolute win. I love this video because I love your channel and could never stand the Donkey Kong games. So it was actually really satisfying for me to see all of these challenges one right after the other like this. Don't think of it as five failures, think of it as five questions answered successfully! :)

Normally games like dk and sonic that have auto sections that leave a trail of bananas/rings that are unavoidable. Mario games doesn’t have those meaning they can be dodged easier due to better mobility
