I remember in the theater when Superman showed up, this one guy in the front row jumped up and turned to face the audience, pulling his sweater open, superman style, revealing his Superman shirt and he screamed "YEAH!! I GOT THE SHIRT, I KNEW HE WAS GONNA SHOW UP!!" 🤣🤣🤣
They did Cavill and the Rock dirty - Levi's shazam team was behind the slander and envy of the Black Adam and Superman success.. They tried to center it all around Shazam. Glad Shazam got its well deserved karma. The studio robbed us of the most epic DCEU momentum in history.
Black Adam started out as a Shazam villain, but recent years have portrayed him as an anti-hero who teams up with either heroes or villains so long as it furthers his case to save his home.
Justice Society was the first superhero team that appeared in the comics. Justice League is like an elite force of superheroes that are considered the best, whereas The Justice Society is a *Family*
The Justice Society are basically the original Justice League team during WW2, it even had the original Flash; Jay Garrick and Green Lantern; Alan Scott, along side the original Atom Smasher.
Black Adam was good, when black Adam said””IT’S ABOUT DRIVE ITS ABOUT POWER WE STAY HUNGRY WE DEVOUR PUT IN THE WORK PUT IN THE HOURS AND TAKE WHAT’S OURS””that scene got me so emotional that the audience were screaming of how much of a actor is the rock is.But seriously this movie was good and I think Dwayne Johnson should stick more with villains roles rather than his comedic ones.Yes check out the other James Bond films .
Carter Hall/Hawkman is kind of immortal he's been around for thousands of years.Lived multiple lives through reincarnation,he was an Egyptian prince that was killed with his lover. And a spell was cast on them, in his current reincarnation Carter hall is an archeologist and I believe that's how he gained his fortune.
Dr Fate made this movie for me. I really hated that they killed him off as he had so much potential and was one of the DCEU's best chance at redemption.
They wanted Pierce Bronson who probably would only sign on for one movie (given this one was in development for like 14 years I don't blame him), and honestly he brought such presence to the character's first big screen debut for most people I wouldn't have it another way. It also showed the difference between him and Dr. Strange - when he sees shit that's fate- that's destiny, he doesn't see everything but the things he sees will happen. He saves people by following the rules, by bringing cosmic justice with a gentler hand, bearing the weight of that responsibility, and with Dr Strange's relentless self sacrificing empathy. Frankly I think it's wonderful got such a good actor just to let him die, and make us all hyped for whoever wears it next, though I do think Kent is the best one so I hope we see a prequel with that character. And who knows maybe Flashpoint brings in another one.
Fun fact: I watched this movie with my classmates about a week or so ago during our 2 hour + long lunch break (well, i'm still studying at higher instituition) before the last lesson of the week. Black Adam, in my opinion, is quite an enjoyable movie not without its flaws though. In the comics, Black Adam was once part of the Justice Society of America, JSA, in short but defected due his differing views on certain things and became sometimes a full out villian or anti-hero. I'm hoping we would get to see Superman vs Black Adam as i think Dwayne Johnson says he would love to go toe to toe with Henry Cavill's Superman. And hopefully, Black Adam vs Shazam as well.
They did Cavill and the Rock dirty - Levi's shazam team was behind the slander and envy of the Black Adam and Superman success - and flipped the story making Rock out to be the big ego'd one when he was literally ROCKING for DC even creating a hype for the franchise single handedly.. They tried to center it all around Shazam. Glad Shazam got its well deserved karma. The studio robbed us of the most epic DCEU momentum in history.
It was a solid ok movie. What I like about this movie are the creative fight scenes and violence. I can see you like Dr. Fate so much, well there is supposed to be another credit scene where another Dr. Fate helmet was found and someone will use it, just heard from movie reviews, I might be wrong about the details.
The Justice Society is a superhero team that first started in WWII and helped fight for America. Think Captain America but a team of heroes. The big difference between the league and the society is the league tends to sticks to a small team(no more than 7) where the society(on paper) can grow as big as it wants.
I hadven’t been able to check out your reaction of the movie because i hadven’t saw the movie myself. But now that I’ve seen the movie i really enjoyed your reaction of Black Adam.
Dr Fate and Hawkman never really die. If Hawk man dies he's reincarnated back to life and Dr Fate's helmet is a living being who chooses who posseses it. Hopefully Daniel Craig is the next Dr Fate.
Nothing beats Man of Steel as the best DCEU origin solo movie but this was a good effort (can easily tell that some shots and direction styles are very Snyder influenced). Henry Cavill's appearance at the end was worth the admission, I remember freaking out in theatres saying "he looks so good!" The script for this film could've been better and the JSA should've been fleshed out more, the villain is so meh but Dr Fate was so good. Should thank The Rock for working hard in bringing Henry back after the previous idiotic WB regime refused.
And it turns out that Black Adam in this movie story wasn't the kid who is fighting the Justice Society it was his father who got his powers and his son died by giving his powers to his father so he can live but sadly his son died and it was sad...😢
Dr Fate is not dead. Neither is Kent Nelson. Dr Fate's duty to be lord of chaos and order. Nabu (cosmic being) has given this Dr Fate mantle to Kent Nelson. Kent Nelson can be resurrected by Nabu if storyline demands. Or probably the Helmet would choose another person. Helmet would reappear when it is supposed to be. So nothing is gone. It's all happened in comics.
If you don't know black Adam, or the jsa, from the comics then this is a great movie. I did love seeing those heroes in live action. In the comics he, black Adam, was the antithesis of Capt Marvel (Shazam) and his sole purpose was to beat Capt Marvel into submission and force him to transfer his part of the Shazam power. And he was BAD..all the way. Not mad, not upset..just power hungry and arrogant.
It will be interesting if in the future they break up with Adam completely and make a villain out of him as according to the canon, or as an anti-hero (which is also canon) they pit him against the headliners of the MCU or other heroes. The last one I would like to see with Deadpool.
Awesome reaction Tim I really did enjoy this movie I do think it could have been a little bit better but it was still really good and it was really nice to see Dwayne Johnson as black adam.
The JSA was one of the earliest DC superhero teams and included (at various times) Dr Fate, The Star-Spangled Kid, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Mr Terriffic, and the original Green Lantern, among many others. Smallville actually does a great introduction for them.

Like you said, action wise this movie works, the actors do a great job (except the kid, his character is annoying and he's not a good actor, easily worst part of the film, he tried to be like Freddy in Shazam but it just not the same). But I can't get past the script! It's okay to ask for a simple movie, going from point A to B, but I just couldn't turn off my brain enough to enjoy it: the only develop character is Black Adam, villain sucks both in human and demon form, we don't know almost anything from the JSA and they contradict themselves so much. I'll rate it a 5/10, not wanting a sequel but I'd love to watch Black Adam appearing in another film.
