Thanks Chester, very useful. I'm trying to get something to work which I think should use the BYROW function but doesn't seem to like it. Years in B1 to I1 and a matrix of numbers underneath. The idea is to find the max number in the row, see what years it appears in and then list the years. The following works but only for each line =LET(rw,B2:I2,FILTER($B$1:$I$1,rw=MAX(rw))). When I try to incorporate this into a BYROW function, I can't get it to work. Any suggestions welcome.
