    I feel like the dragons soul is trapped in the orb and the dwemer used the power of its soul to heat and give light to the city. They would have the means to do this as well considering that they can read elder scrolls and the scroll found in blackreach is the dragon elder scroll. The color of light that the orb gives off is also the same color a dragons soul gives off when you kill it. the more i think about this the more i think it was some kind of device to stow dragon souls.

      @lotusjewell9984 5 лет назад +68

      That's actually a good theory; what better way to gain light and heat than from the soul of an elder dragon? I think that the dragons with names are all either elder or legendary dragons; or rather, supposed to be anyway. Even though the first dragon you fight (after meeting Delphine) is a total pansy. Then again, by the time I've gotten around to fighting said dragon; I've wandered the entirety of Skyrim and have reached level 20 or 30. Don't know why, but each time I restart Elder Scrolls; I end up wandering Skyrim until I've leveled up to at least level 15 before even reaching Whiterun for the first time.

    • @McPlayer8t
      @McPlayer8t 4 года назад +21

      No, I see where your coming from, but there are a few things that don’t line up. What the orb does I do not know, but the dragon came from the distance, not out of the orb. I would guess the dragon was attracted by the loud clank sound made when you shout at the orb.

    • @Coliflower185
      @Coliflower185 4 года назад +18

      Or, it was a dragon that took a mountain from a group of dwarves, then, when the dwarves came back to stop him, he decided to destroy a nearby town for no good reason. Then he was shot by a man in this town, and nearly killed, but when the Dragonborn shouts at the big orb, for some odd reason, it pulls him through time and space to a different reality, and appears in blackreach

    Just a theory of mine, I think the Falmer fisherman you mentioned is a reference to Gollum from The Hobbit, when he is first encountered by Bilbo. In the book, Gollum lived alone deep under the Misty Mountains on an island in a dark, cold lake. He would mainly eat the black fish that spawned in the lake, but he would occasionally kill and eat goblins who dared to stray into his territory.
    I think the second hut is a nod to Gollum's life as Smeagol as well. In his "hobbit" life, Smeagol was fishing with his best friend and cousin Deagol, and it was Deagol that found the one ring in the river. Smeagol killed Deagol to gain the One Ring for "his birthday", and thus began his downward spiral into the creature known as Gollum. I think the other hut is supposed to be a nod to Deagol.

      At 31:37 talking about the "Arena", what if it wasn't for death sports, but executions? That would explain the spinning blade, the lever, the bloodstain, the benches, and the high table at the top. Just a thought that the Dwemer may have used the area to execute anyone who tried to steal or commit crimes in Blackreach

  • @paulgrattan3885
    @paulgrattan3885 3 года назад +54

    Regarding the giant, the Dwemer could talk to the giants. It's how the Dwemer got labeled dwarves. The ancient Nords saw the Dwemer talking with them and said they looked like dwarves talking to the giants and the name stuck. So the Dwemer either knew how to communicate with them either language or maybe psychic communication or maybe sign language.

      Personally. I think one of the Dwarves down there considered themselves to be a bit of an archeologist. By the time Blackreach was at its height, the Nords would have already been in Skyrim for over 1000 years. So its quite possible one of the Dwemer had a whole collection of Atmoran settlement artefacts and this stone pillar was just part of their collection, displayed proudly outside their exhibit.

    Everyone keeps calling the structure at 32:30 an arena. To me, those stone pillars look like someone could've been chained there by the rings, it looks MUCH more like a place for executions instead as it looks way too small to fight in and there's only one central bloodstain. EDIT: Who knows? It could've maybe been used for executing prisoners of war during the Aetherium Wars, if they did that. It could've been possibly used for interrogation as well. This theory seems to be brought out with the War Quarters right next to it, the interrogation site right next to where the soldiers are stationed. It makes sense in my opinion.

At first I was like, "meh, must be rubble from the ceiling" but then, at the occulory in blackreach, where there were piles "rubble" textures right where these tables and chairs were, I had a chilling thought that they're actually the ashes of the dwemer that disappeared.

    The blue stones aren‘t consisting of Aetherium in my opinion.
    There are veins scattered around Black Reach named Geodene veins that are glowing in a smooth blue tone.
    If you do mine them, you‘ll either get soul gems, or you‘ll get corundum ore. There are also a few veins that are black instead of blue which will contain black soul gems. So I think that these blue stones are consisting of this Geodene.

      You're correct I believe - number of reasons it doesn't work well as an arena instead of for executions/torture, like it being where it is AND elevated not making sense unless the (ahem) participants were chained. You wall of the surrounding area to limit needless viewing, there are limited seats rather than a stadium, the blade being in the center instead of the sides. Nothing concrete but thinking archaeogically it'd make more sense & suits their culture far more than is suggested here

    Hey Camel, I always thought the "arena" was a public execution area and courtroom combo. Chain the accused up in the center of the 4 pillars, have a trial, and then summarily execute them right then and there were they found guilty.
    EDIT: I think I should clarify why I think this. Imagine you're one of the dwarven kings(?) and the Aetherium war is heating up. You wouldn't want any insurrections within your own faction and you'd need a place to kill your prisoners of war. Plus there is blood only in the center, indicating that is where people were getting sliced up.
    Also, for the book, I think an adventurer got a bit too curious for their own good. Setting down their stuff, going to flick a lever, then getting themselves killed. The Falmer came later to drag them away, but left the book because they can't read.

    Camel, I think I have an answer to your lever question in the Dwarven Automaton design: in engineering, redundancy is used to as a fail-safe so that there's a way to something to function, no matter what. I have no doubt that all those automated guards were once activated by a simple portable remote or Dwarven cell phone, but in the end, if all else failed, a simple switch would activated them. The best example is outer space design, where there are multiple ways to open hatches, fix air filters, etc. Love the videos. Cheers!

    I think a very reasonable explanation for the Nordic pillar is that it was carved by resident Atmoran slave miners working in Blackreach under Dwemer taskmasters. It's existence is likely in an area where slaves were kept, and the Nordic workers made it to give themselves a sense of solidarity or a reminder of home.
    Similar instances of slave artistry in ruins can be seen throughout human history, lending credence to this theory.

    Regarding the part about Sindurion (however you spell his name) and why he has dwarves arrows in his back rather than bolts. The ammo type of crossbow bolts was only added to Skyrim when Dawnguard released, and everything in Blackreach is from vanilla Skyrim. I imagine what happened was this: they put dwarven arrows in the back of Alchemy bro here because it was the closest thing at the time to crossbow bolts, but the main idea was to make you assume that the spheres did it. Then when Dawnguard finally came it, whether due to laziness or they just honestly forgot about it, never changed the arrows to bolts.

Nothing else. I understand that it was made over ten years ago, but the people who praise Morrowind really need to take off their nostalgia goggles.
      And out of the three games, Oblivion is the most Generic. Cyrodiil just wasn't that interesting of a place, literally every single province on Tamriel is more interesting, with perhaps the exception of High Rock.

Plenty of gazebos IRL have no furnishings, and require people to bring such things with them. They can also be used for musical stages, public speaking, etc.

  • @angelbird538
    @angelbird538 6 лет назад +12

    30:30, those "Vines" I guess, Look like they belong to Hermaous Mora, Daedric prince of knowledge. the Dwarves were centuries ahead of their time. This might start to sound a bit far fetched but, bare with me because, this might also explain the shrine, the creatures who don't appear to have any reason for being in black reach like, the dragon, the giants, the trolls, the wisp mother/wisps and the spiders.
    The random skill books are an easy piece of the puzzle, Simple put both the Dwarves, and Hermaeous Mora were scholoars, you might say these books are to recent to be Dwarven and are clearly not Daedric in nature and, you are right but, These books still were knowledge, maybe after the Dwarves vanished Hermaeous Mora enslaved the Falmer. this wouldn't be the first time the Falmer were enslaved. My theory is this, What if Hermaeous Mora Demanded more up-to-date knowledge on the current events of skyrim after the Dwarves vanished.
    This ties into the creatures as well. The falmer probably lured these creatures down here in hopes of studying them for Hermaeous Mora just like the Falmer would steal and enslave Man-kind and Mer-kind. This might also explain the arena. maybe they would put different creatures against each other to study them in different scenarios. You may have noticed a lack of bodys around, and that might explain the spinning blades trap in the arena, break it up or be ripped to shreds. What good would it do to have a giant if the giant died, they would only have to find a new one and lore it back down into Black Reach Why would they want to go through all of that trouble weekly? Maybe they required certain creatures to experiment with Alchemy. Ingredients like, Troll fat, Dragon scales, Giants toes, and wisp wrappings Which lines up with the mushroom farms, the spiders "Sacks" , the glow mushrooms, the Chrimson Nirnroot, Ah yes, even the skeever tails. If I were not on a current Skyrim Hiatus I would see what one might be able to create with such ingredients.
    This also might explain the "Shrine" while it shows no hits as to why or what this was a shrine to, maybe the Falmer were trying to speak to Hermaeous Mora. It migh tnot even be a shrine, it could be an Altar, or a memorial, maybe not related to any Aedra or Daedra, Maybe it was a memorial to a king or some ones loved one maybe a nobles or some one of high social stature. It could also be a place of healing, Its hard to tell with mods but, I believe I witnessed a healing potion there.
    This might also explain the Nordic Architecture it is Hermaeous Mora we are talking about here. I do not believe it ever was said how long Hermaeous Mora was looking for the secrets of stalrim but, I speculate it must have been well over 200 years I find it possible the Nordic stones were brought here by the Falmer on order of Hermaeous Mora trying to study the ancient nords in an attempt to discover the Stalrim secret on his own.
    The "Titans fingers" as you put it, don't resemble Hermaeous Moras tendrils at first glance but, If you're right and the Geodes are in fact Aetherium Its possible Harmaeous Mora taught the Dwarves how to make Aetherium, or taught the Dwarves how to safely decode the elder scrolls with out the side effects thus, teaching the Dwarves how to make Aetherium thus, allowing Hermaeous Mora to Syphon from the Aetherium veins changing some of his green and slimy looking Tendrils to the blue glowing Titans Fingers thus making Hermaeous Mora the strongest Daedric prince..Knowledge is power.
    Honestly, this sounds pretty solid to me, it explains a lot.

      @left-2-write28 4 года назад

      I love this theory. I admit, I am biased as I love anything to do with the Flying Spaghetti Monster that is Hermaeous Mora, but it makes sense to me! After all, in base game(I think) the player has to find a scholar that once studied the elder Scrolls, where some Hermaeous Mora has some tomfoolery about! So we know that Mora has something to do with the Scrolls! Anyway, love this theory and I am adding it to my personal head canon!!
