      If you really love art and just drawing, you'd take time. you gotta put a lot of passion and love into your characters. Otherwise you just wind up like every 14 year old with an "edgy," mary sue background of dead parents and angst with no other personality other than to sigh and sulk.

    I'm reminded of a tip I read by a layout designer. If you were submitting the first set of ideas you drew here to a client, and you favored one version - you would finish that character a bit more, take out some of the initial line work. She was doing pasteup boards, so she said maybe the tape would be messy or a corner torn. The idea was to get the client to tell you to go with the version you think is best. They'll think it was their idea and they're directing you. #evilgenius #getpaid lol

    first, I gotta say you have one of the kindess fanbases I have ever seen..everyone seems to help each other. On another note, thanks for this! I might try going this route for with making a character the next time I do, as it seems a lot easier going from multiple ideas at first than just constantly changing one character over and over at the beginning until you like it. So again, thank you! (:

    Watching this be made is truly the most awe-inspiring thing... Like. If I try to draw how non-chalantly you draw, it looks like a scribble. But this actually, after doing nothing but make the jawline and the base head (WITH NOTHING ON IT TO SAY IT'S A HEAD) still looks like a head. It's so amazing. One day, once I start drawing 2000x better. I aspire to be this amazing.

      Also, while speed arts are amazing and quite fascinating. I prefer the real time ones with the person commenting on it. It makes you understand the artwork/piece better because you hear the persons thoughts. And not voiced over, but at the same time, like this one.

    Hi Jazza. I've been watching your videos back to back for the past week and because of you, not only am I growing in confidence and self belief but I am passionate and motivated and picking up the pencil more and seeing positive results! I recently was commissioned to turn a photo of a man into a cartoon character of a king. I have just finished a rough sketch and couldn't be happier with the results. I'd love to show you the results once I've painted the final piece!
    Thank you for all of your videos, you cover such a wide range of topics which I feel all artists can learn at least one thing, from character design to self belief, to drawing boobs! (and who doesn't love boobs! hehe). Keep them coming mate!

    I always see how he perfectly colours his characters to the edge. And I know it has something to do with the Layers but can someone explain me how I can do that too? When I just color manually I sometimes go over the edges..
    Btw: You don't see this function in this video.

      @mrC0EN 7 лет назад +5

      in photoshop, press ctrl+shift+n, or on the bottom right (paper ish) draw in this section all the colours, make sure you drag the layer underneath your base layer.

    i LOVE you style of art. Im in high school and i really wanna pursue digital art, But art class is all about what the teacher wants you to do, we dont get to do what art we want, and they change our work if they dont like it. I have never tried digital art but i REALLY wanna try it. I sketch a lot and a bit of watercolour pencil but i feel that i would be really good if i got the equiptment. Since im only at my first year of highschool, my parents wont buy it for me because they want me to explore other stuff and my dad doesnt think much of artists. I just really wanna pursue art and try digital but its sorta difficult since i dont earn money (and im not old enough to get a job)I do art on a daily basis and im just not sure. Maybe some tips on cheap items to start off with? Im in NZ so it should be almost the same as australian. Thanks and i love your design of art :)

      Samara Avery ikr! my school has the same problem! my teacher in particular was HORRIBLE, it was like he wanted us to just trace over HIS art

    • @samaraavery6205
      @samaraavery6205 9 лет назад +8

      Johnathan Sharp omg tracing over his art!? thats even worse (-.-) Art is meant to be a free thing, its how people express their emotion and it really sucks that if your like me and into digital art, sketching or water colour pencil, our teacher makes us do painting for abstract

    • @nimamojtahedi5612
      @nimamojtahedi5612 9 лет назад +6

      Samara Avery his class was called "drawing" and we had to make everything from dreamcatchers to stuffed animals, because he wanted us to do "hands on" work

    But wait, how does personality affect how someone looks?

    • @Jazza
      @Jazza  8 лет назад +55

      +Darkyte well, for example, someone obnoxious will dress and style themselves very differently to someone introverted. Likewise someone intelligent and practical as opposed to an air-headed personality. On the flip side, to an extent personality can also be shaped BY how someone looks. Attractive people will often be more confident and sometimes entitled or narcissistic due a lifetime of being put on a pedestal or treated especially well. On the other hand someone with unfortunate facial features may have been billed or talked down to, which might lead them to being either very mild natured with low self esteem, or bitter and angry, perhaps becoming a villain.

    • @darkyte5323
      @darkyte5323 8 лет назад

      But what about those people who look one way(e.g dress in a villainous looking outfit, but then actually not be one. I wanna say a good example would be Blair from the anime Soul Eater) and would lead you to assume they are that kind of person, but then actually be another?

    • @mumblesandwool1243
      @mumblesandwool1243 8 лет назад +25

      +Darkyte you are reading wayyy too much into it lol. of course there are exceptions to everything, however, many peronalities shape the way someone looks and dresses, and vise versa. not only that, someone with a bubbly and happy go lucky personality may always be portrayed as laughing and smiling where as someone who dresses darkly may be prtrayed as sad or sulking more often than not. its not a set in stone rule, but in general, its good to keep personality in mind when designing your character to get the overall vibe of the character harmonious, ya feel me?

    • @darkyte5323
      @darkyte5323 8 лет назад +3

      yeah i guess. It just feels a bit like stereotyping.
