      Sanjay C definitely the clip triggering and mixing. I’m a loop guy by trade, started with a loop pedal and a guitar, so being able to loop synths and clips of different lengths and put them on different volumes with control over which are playing? Priceless. I also need a 49 key so I figured, two for one special!

    I'm trying to decide between this and the Ableton Push. I don't consider myself a keyboard player, so a part of me would want to go with Push, but I really like the light guide / scales mode concept on the SL to help me learn keys! Seems like both have comparable Ableton functionality, do you have a suggestion?

    • @SanjayC
      @SanjayC  5 лет назад +2

      If you're not a keyboardist, then it may be worth investing your time learning the Ableton Push 2. Especially if you plan to live-loop/perform live. Learning Ableton Live + Push 2 is the ultimate in mastering Ableton. And the Push will give you the most comprehensive control of Ableton. If you don't think you need to learn keyboard, then skip it and go for the Push 2.

    Great video Sanjay! But I'm seriously stuck and would love your advice deciding between Novation SL MKIII 61 & Arturia MKII 61. (Apologies in advance for length of this comment)
    - I am a keyboard player and just beginning to learn Ableton Live Lite. I need main MIDI controller to optimize/help my Ableton workflow.
    - I watched your vid on Arturia MKII and was 99% sold on the 61-key (I have Nord 88) due to Build, A-Lab & DAW control
    - Then I saw this video and the Novation's Arp & Step Seq, features I do want to really get into due to the potential for creativity, has really swayed me and now I just can't decide
    (Sidenote: I had initially considered just buying Push 2 (Live integ + step seq) but it is $$$ and I figured I'd still need midi keys, so trying to find a 1-stop solution first)
    Then my question is, how useful/effective do you personally consider onboard arpeggiator and step sequencer features in your music production? I saw your Nexus vid where you seemed to be toggling decent arps and I know Live has a built-in one too. Just not sure if software version somehow is inferior to hardware versions of these features due to lack of spontaneity(?). If software versions can adequately compensate, then I'd go with Arturia but after hours and hours of research, I still can't find a definitive answer.
    I'd greatly appreciate it if you could answer that + let me know what YOU would do if you were me btwn the two or other solutions. Thanks in advance!

    • @SanjayC
      @SanjayC  4 года назад +1

      Hi Eric. I don't think an arp and sequencer is necessary for music production. Its nice for live performance and its fun to use if you're just playing around. But you can do all arp and sequencer type things directly on your computer.

    I just can't decide, either this or the Roland Juno Ds + akai apc 40 mk2.
    I like about the juno ds that i dont need my computer to start jamming and the 88 key version is so good to practice piano.
    On the other hand the sl mk3 has so many good features like scale mode and so on but i already have a novation circuit which also has scale mode.

      I would pair a Push 2 with a Native Instrument keyboard (or Arturia) because you'll get additional features that Push doesn't have. The Novation keyboard is not going to give you anything that the Push can't already do.

    Could you help me decide between Arturia Keylab49 mk2 vs Novation SL MK3. I'm very, very torn between the reviews as of now. Im a beginner level musician, producer.
    I use Abelton Live aswell as Reaper.
    I've also heard that with the SL mk3 if you press the keys hard and fast, you will recieve start to "pivot" and the end of the key (in the back) will hit the top of the inside of the case. Causing a very noticeable "clack" noise. Im not sure if this is intended.
    Would I need a audio-interface with any of the 2? Or would normal PC soundboard suffice. Obviously there would be difference but how significant would it be?
    Aswell as if I would get the audio-interface could I connect it to portable bluetooth speaker with usb to midi connection? If not what would be the way to connect any of the 2 to a portable, bluetooth like speaker.
    I know a lot of noob questions but any help is highly appreciated! :)

    Hi there, I really agree the Novation SL MK III is the best Keyboard I ever had, It made me even to sell my Push 2.. Together with the Launchpad Pro MK III its a control powerhouse and all I need to Control Ableton Live..
    Just one thing I not can understand on it.. why I have in Ableton in the Midi Preferences so many Ports IN and OUt from it ??
    Need I them for seperately route the CV for example ?
    I mean the first TWO are needed like the Manual says, but what are the ports 3, 4 and 5 for ?? .... What can do with it ?
    Can you explain me that ? ... or A video of this port features were cool... maybe more Users wonders that...
    Cause no other creator doing a video from the SL speaks about that ports in Ableton... no infos yet found... Also the Manual only say about Ports 1 and 2... 3 to 5 no infos
    Were nice more to see about the SL MK III, I know its unlimited features here, so much possibilities, needs bit time to dive in that all, but I am very impressed by it ...
    Thanks Sanjay C, I like your videos a lot
