- Henry the guinea pig getting his daily back rub fix while I kick back and relax after work. He gives out this long purr when he's content and happy with the massage. Normally he yawns and falls asleep after a while but I can't get it shot on video today, he's probably camera shy :3
UPDATE: Thanks for the nice comments. Henry has sadly passed away. He was a well-loved, chill little piggie and will be forever remembered.

I get all in my g pigs face bc I'm an annoying owner. And he yawned today & I saw his little tweevers 😍. Sometimes he acts annoyed w/ me, other times, he seems to just put up up w/ me. The other, other times, it seems like he's actually being sweet.

I reckon if you made a chamber that enclosed your body and then filled it with guinea pigs and dropped food in there to make them purr, sleeping in it for an hour a day would yield eternal life.

My oldest guinea pig lived to be 6 before he passed, and the youngest lived to be 2 :(

I'm amazed to come into the kitchen and find m guinea pig lying down on his side like a dog, with his eyes closed. By the time I get my camera, I've usually managed to disturb him and he's returned to the usual GP defensive crouch.

When guineapigs don’t like something, they make that rumble noise. But obviously hes enjoying 90% of this cuddle! Seeing a lot of “my guineapig” comments: Guineapigs should never be kept alone, they need to be kept in at least a pair and have a minimum of a 2m enclosure.
Contrary to popular belief, some guinea pigs are able to live by themselves as single guinea pigs and are perfectly happy living that way provided that they are getting all of the love and care and attention and affection from their owners that a guinea pig could possibly want or wish for. Male guinea pigs seem to be able to handle living by themselves as single guinea pigs a lot better than their female counterparts, Virtually every one of the single guinea pigs that I have ever come across on RUclips is a male. I also once owned a male single guinea pig.
I had three for my last lot of Guinea Pigs and they were Brother's from the same lot. If they were left together they would attack each other, so we usually kept them separated. The first two died early to some kind of desiese, and the third one actually seemed happier and calmer without them. He lived the whole 7 years of his life with me.

We used to wrap up our guinea pig in a little blanket like a burrito. He'd just lay there and purr away and look around.

Most guinea pigs don't like it when their lower back is touched. Mainly towards the butt. I guess its a sensitivity thing, my 3 guinea pigs don't like it when that happens

every piggie is different I guess. I have 3 piggies. One hates touching all together, the second one loves hiding under cloth and my clothes and the ocassional head rub, and the last one loves everything from lying on me (and using my boobs as a cushion) to nuzzling my neck, licking me all over and getting petted and massaged. especially behind the ears and the butt. She starts making these content noises and sometimes even popcorning.

+jillian Reid Henry sometimes doesn't like it too, it depends on his mood. I was stroking him a few times towards the butt in this video because he yawned twice after I did that. Trying to get him to yawn again but he got annoyed in this video.

That low rumble is a warning. Guinea pigs establish dominance by mounting and nipping fur around the backside, so petting them there is usually unwanted. Some of these are good sounds, but a lot of it is complaining. Most guinea pigs don’t usually like to cuddle, but many don’t mind being pet around their head.
He reminds me a lot of my piggie, i miss him a bunch. I'm sorry for your loss. Henry had a lovely life and owner and he will be missed.

My guinea pig can't stand me rubbing the end of his back....When I try he freaks out like if he just got an electric shock.

I had a hamster and hated it so much, it was so mean and bite. and a month ago I was going to get a hamster again but I got guinea pigs instead. So glad I did. Piggy's are the best so friendly. I was never allowed to have a dog or a cat. so I had to have a pet that is small.

Diabetic Alien Hamsters are nocturnal animals (sleep at daytime, active at night). Mostly it's not wise to take a hamster. Not much fun for you or the hamster.
harry nac Not true. Hamsters and guinea pigs are both most active during Dusk and Dawn, I can tell you from experience.
Tara Balestrino That is very wrong! Hansters are only skiddish when scared, like almost every animal on earth! They only bite if you hurt them or neglect them! I have a hamster and it was the most active and wonderful pet I had. When you reached into his cage he would run up my arm, and he loved being pet. Please do your research on animals. No animal is natural mean or bitey, except for obvious examples (sharks, lions, etc.)
Tara Balestrino Syrian hamsters are wonderful, but I agree tgat mineature and russian hamsters are not good pets. Generally the latter two are group animals and dont like being pet. But Syrian hamsters are great.
he's so sweet. my boy afer does this when I take him for a drive in the car. I think the motion of the car puts him to sleep.

Nice lil gienua pigs. I had 2 we thought they were both females but one turned to be a male. And a litter and gave the male to the zoo (Its great there, huge green area with holes to cuddle in.) And we had to give away 3 of them away 2 females and 1 male. Kept the cutiest female of them all, well most adorable baby of them all and the mom and baby lived together for the next healthy 9 years. :D

So everyone is talking about purring...but one of my females purred when i gave her a tomato and she ate it anyway.So what? She hates the tomato? But immediately snatched it out of my hand?
Purring may be a sound of annoyance,but it is also one of content.
That's what I've always been thinking. Everyone always sais that they make the purring sound when they are stressed but I've had 3 guineapigs and they usually made it when they were really relaxed (sleeping, eating grass, getting fresh hay, etc)
I miss my guinea pigger. He was black and white and his name was Chunk. He was so friggin loud with the squeaking when he'd see us, but it was adorable.
