    I have the M50x, I like it, it's very bassy, but the other frequencies are good. I have heard the HD25, sounds better than the M50x, but not by much. The build quality of the M50x seems better to me. The fit of the M50x is more comfortable and secure to me. Also, all those headphones have removable cables.

    HD 25 all the way. i used pioneer ones. and my head started hurting from the heavyness of headphones plus super loud bass! not only listening music at home but also club when u have to crank it up;( HD 25 has best quality sound on the market. its lightweight super durable and ears never hurt listening music and clubs when u crank up that level on mixer))

    One of the best, unbiased, reviews about DJ headphones I've seen on RUclips. I have HD 25, for the last 4 years, and these are fantastic headphones! Unfortunately they are brakable (as it happen to me by my mistake of course, otherwise they last a long time), but all parts are availalbe. Only recently I decided to get something that cover my ears as I only mix with headphones and comfort is something that matters after a long time behind the decks.

Well-made headphones, great for Dance music. Unfortunately, the deep low end started to annoy me and ditched them for Sennheiser. Otherwise, they were great, very comfy and superb sound quality.

    Excellent intro! It's more about ear protection and sound quality,. and finally some personal critique on the ATH50, with their legendary soundstage i believe you have already damaged your ears my friend if you experience the bass being "muddy" because its really crystal clear with very well balanced mids and highs. Compare the frequency responses and look at the numbers, they dont lie. Or perhaps you should invest in better quality file format for your tracks ;)

    In my opinion, rating headphones or even speakers on how they sound is very subjective. Just like saying that house is shit, or trance, or happy hardcore. It all comes down to personal preference. I wish I had the option to listen to all with my kind of music before I buy them.

    I'm in the market for a new pair to replace my A&H XD53's. Sound and build wise they are as good as the day I bought them. The only minor issue is cosmetic as the faux leather headband has started peeling, apart from that they are flawless. But although I have small ears they do not fit inside fully with ease, not good considering they were advertised as circumaural, and then when on the inner speaker adds pressure to the ear causing discomfort even after an hour or so, as the depth of the cup is shallow.
    Without being able to physically try on a pair, can anyone recommend decent over the ear (circumaural) cans that are comfortable and won't break the bank?
    I can get a pair of the Pioneer HDJ X5 for £69 new and delivered, worth a punt?

    A lot of friends into Sound have the M50X, I tried them! It does sound good! A little heavy for my liking, although the build quality seems fine! I have heard the ears can get hot after a while! Second pair of HD 25 in 15 years! Love them! Much Lighter! It sounds better to me (Maybe I am just used to them), I also really like the fact that they are stealthy! Especially when you like going everywhere with them! They are made of plastic but they are pretty durable if you handle them with care! It is true that sometimes they can feel a little tight on the ears after a while! It's good to take a break anyway! ;) So, HD 25 all the way for me! IT's a sound thing really for me! Pioneers have the best build quality but they ware to big and to heavy for me, also too much low end if it goes about saund quality. On the other hand sennheiser h25 looks and feels cheap and cheesy. Sound is very flat and I cand understad that it is what somen may wanted. HD25 have also slippery pads and they dont stick in one placy wneh you are moving. Good and honest review, but it makes me think that all audio or music experts should know this one thing to avoid imprecise judgments: the burn-in (or break-in) process is a must to really get to know how a pair of headphones truly sound. I have the ath-m50x and the HDJ- x10-k and I admit they didn't sound good when recently gotten out of the box, but after 150 hours+ of use the Audio Technicas sound really good and the Pioneers sound really incredible and beautiful and I cannot imagine a $200 dollars on-ear small driver headphones sounding better than them. I suggest to give at least 80 hours of usage to headphones before commenting about their sound quality (in a hurry, because to get the very best they can perform we may need around 300 hours) ... it does make a world of difference and after years of empiric experimentation I'm not really speculating.

    • @DJSchoolAmsterdam
      @DJSchoolAmsterdam  4 года назад

      Hi Alan, good point! I do think that the basic characteristics are present before 'burn in' time, and the sound will change in details, like less sharp high frequencies (audio technica) , but if a headphone is bass heavy, it will not change into a neutral sound over time. I personally have different headphones for different usage, like beyerdynamics for accuracy and stereo placement, Sehnheisser for a neutral producing sound and Sony (noice-canceling) for big entertaining bass.

    Don't ever compare on vs over ear headphones. I feel desperate when i occasionally do a B2B with someone and using their shitty HD-25's. They are screaming high in the mid's and highs, has absolutely no isolation at all, and when around the the neck, there's no auto swivel which make them dingledangle flapping all around. After a few hours my outer ears start hurting because of the constant pressing on the ear. After using the Pioneer HDJ-2000's, HDJ-2000Mk2's and the HDJ-X10's since they came to market, there's very little that could change my mind and use anything else and feel comfy. Doing around 200 gigs/year under normal circumstances, I need a good quality, well isolated headphone that give me all the frequencies so I can make individual choices for every transition, and not be dependent on only snares and high hats, which I have no problem hearing in the pioneer head phones despite being 51 years old and being a DJ since 1985. The HD-25's feel like toys in comparison in my opinion. But, for someone preferring the on ear head phones, and the HD-25's in particular, they will have as many arguments for them as I have for the Pioneer head phones, and the same in reverse for them sa well.

      @@polger1739 its all subjective. what I like, next person will think it sucks ass. But I don't think they are an idiot for their opinion lol. I watch movies n game on the x2hr (incredible sound stage), which some reviewers spit on lol. But they sound great to me.
      I use HD25s for general listening but I have the new 560S on the way. Might replace em. I use the much-dissed ATH-m50X for audio stuff. Beyers I demoed were way to bright on all material. I've demoed the Pioneers. Priced like Beats, marketed like Beats, sell like beats. More power to them.

    Guy claims the ATM-50X will break within a year, my ATM-50 originals have been to hundreds of shows and beat to shit and they will not break. Never seen or heard of one breaking, so guy is immediatly full of it lol. later guy, read the comments, everyone using ATM50X

      I used M40x, casual, after two years of using, the quality of the outside material seems okay, but the right-head don't work no more. Even I'm in love with the sound of the M40x, the inside electric organisation disappointed me, it should not fail after 2 years of using. I want to try pioneer x5 this time, I've heard is pretty solid.

      lex Tr3 Hi Lex, my hearing is fine (has been measured recently) so no need to jump to unfounded conclusions. I do have trained ears, that means I can hear differences between a “spectaculair” sound and a more honest , but for some, more boring sound, and that is exactly the difference between the C70 and the HD25. What sound you like beter is very personal.
