I love how this series has basically become a podcast where they talk about anything while they play videogames in the background. I find it more interesting than only talking about the game they're playing.
This series was always like that
I love how they get off topic and the conversations they have that have absolutely nothing to do with the game are so much more entertaining.
That's because it's a arcade style beat-em up game, hard to make that entertaining for watching. They're boringly constructed to waste your money, not to entertain.
Gotta agree. Could barely focus on this novel I'm making in MS Word '07 thanks to 'em, but I'm not complaining!
Man, James has great memory, remembering the Ninja Gaiden song.
So asstute of him
Have to admit, I forgot all about Ninja Gaiden teaching me how birds are among the fiercest killers in the animal kingdom.
You'd be surprised what you remember when triggered by a relapse of time.
Is that Sarcasm!
Probably his lullabye
When you two start cracking up, it’s contagious lol. I’m over here laughing my ass off with you guys🤣
Ha same remember the super Mario maker 2 ep 😂
For real, I was cracking up at the loony toons bit. I couldn't help it. The fact that they thought it was so hilarious made it six times more funny. 😂
I nearly shit myself while in tears during that whole thing lmao!
@@wareforcoin5780 *Looney Tunes
It's 4am and Im laughing so much Im crying.
*I'm in tears laughing at that Looney tunes interruption*
28:48
The Looney Tunes thing had me in near tears. That was absolutely hilarious.
The Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle is so much fun.
Yeah it is great to have all those great coin-ops!
I just re downloaded it when I seen this video . No one ever plays multi tho
Thats because multiplayer is so laggy.
I beat KoTRT or the dragon one multiplayer 3 weeks ago
I just wish they could've put the punisher with it. Capcom will always be my favorite!
Cpt commando, warriors of fate, Armored warriors are my fave on the bundle
About that "SHTROM" character: In german, "strom" is electricity so I guess that was what they were aiming for.
lmao Bugs Bunny in "the case of the ruined Ikari Warriors playthrough"
Could have made a good WB title card. I can see it in my head.
@@JamesNintendoNerd The part that made me laugh most while thinking about the Looney Tunes crash was the intro sound before the actual Looney music starts, the "pwooooooooo", glad that it was in the edited take haha
I was born 1996 and I definitely watched looney tunes as a child. I remember seeing it on Cartoon Network in the early 2000’s. The 90’s definitely bled into the 2000’s
The fans never forgot Captain Commando.
Pepperidge Farms remembers Captain Commando...
And viewtiful joe.
@@Kourumeme I was so pissed they created C. Viper (who had the same moveset as him from MVC) instead of shoe-horning Cap-Com into the SF universe.
Unforgivable.
*remembers what C. Viper looks like*
Okay, sorta forgivable.
@@ZigealFaust C Viper was shoved into MVC3 at the expense of Captain Commando (actually mentioned by capcom, they said since Viper was so similar they felt they couldn't put both in)
"The Capcom worlds strongest superhero" MISSING in place of artificially trying to give C Viper popularity in a game she has no reason to be in.
The last scene where he said "I am Captain Commando" ,that would stuck with me till today and that's like 10 years ago
I can't express how fucking hilarious the looney tunes part was, I was laughing my ass off and that's why I have been watching James and Mike Mondays for so long, I love when you are laughing so hard you can't even play anymore. You're giving us the joy of playing with friends to a whole generation secluded because of the pandemic. Thank you so much James and Mike!
You should have ended this video with:
"That's all folks!"
pretty sure Ryu from Ninja Gaiden is not the one from Street Fighter - but he is the same Ryu in the Dead or Alive games - also by Tecmo.
I never played the original games, I mostly remember Captain Commando through Marvel vs Capcom
same
Ninja warriors
I was here for the usual “James & Mike Mondays” episode and gameplay nostalgia, but when it quickly turned to the “add Looney Tunes to disrupt kids playing Minecraft” subject, I totally cracked up like these two.😂😂😂 Totally relate, same generation as these guys, and the humor is classic!🤣
If we ever get another actual AVGN Video Game we need to have a Level that starts normal but then turns into a 7 Minute Unrelated Cartoon we need to watch before we can continue playing 😆
We definitely need a third game.
I think “The Toys that Made Us” was emulating toy commercial energy. What do other people say?
You'd have to account for every language to answer your question thoroughly. There are just so many combinations of sentences, it's probably approaching infinity.
I think that makes sense.
Man...I loved this game. One of the best beat ‘em ups from back in the day. I never knew as a kid that Captain Commando had anything to do with CAPCOM, and I had always wondered why no sequel to this was ever made.
CAPtain COMmando = CAPCOM
I actualy love James movie reviews when he is just being himself and 100% honest.
The cabinet of Dr Caligari
Rocky franchise
Alien Franchise
Those are some of my favorites he has put out. Dr Caligari is probably my favorite ever, i must have seen that one like 10 times so far, and that one is a very positive review.... Just my 2 cents.
He enjoyed Dr Caligari more than I did. And I saw both Rocky and Alien franchises, and also Bela Lugosi's Dracula and Spanish Dracula and many more because of James.
Absolutely!!! Love listening to his movie reviews of ones he likes. Loved listening to his podcast with his wife talking about their favorite bands. Even games that he likes made for especially fun videos, like SMB3 and his Castlevania review series. This positive review style also got me into classicgameroom and happyconsolegamer.
My favorite review from James is the Ghostbusters 2016 non review video! Hahaha he just explained with a lot of common sense how that movie was doomed.
I like em a lot too. So that was sad to here. I like rental reviews too though.
I love that the character named Mack is armed with knives.
The mummy commando is cool.
I am surprised they didn't make the correlation between "cap"tain "com"ando! I wonder if the name originates from the company or from the character.
Same here, i figured they'd pick up on it, but maybe they forgot to bring it up somehow.
My assumption is that the name Captain Commando was created as a wordplay on Capcom, it would've been a weird coincidence and oversight if Capcom wasn't aware of it.
I mean, they later also had Bionic Commando, but still, Capt. Comm is too on the nose to be a coincidence.
Captain Commando came about from cleverly usin’ Cap-Com in the name. Capcom was founded in 1979, wayyy before Captain Commando became a thing.
I don't get it.
@@MyManJFKTV And did their name come from NASA's Capcom?
Capcom comes from CAPsule COMputer.
Captain Commando in the instruction manual looks like a Captain Harlock rip-off.
I enjoy the good stuff you put out over the bs ass basket nonsense, like that Maltese falcon review was classic.
If you know the plot of this game it’s interesting, there is even a Japanese manga that explains even more
According to the manga, his real name is given as Mars Carlisle and he is the CEO of Star Electronics in his civilian identity.
I'm gonna look into it
I was born in 92" and bugs bunny and tweety show was my shit.
Fortnite *dances fortnite dance autistically
I don't get it.
@@envolopee you should be 🥵
I actually never liked them. But I did see them. It's always sad when something fades from cultural memory. Tho there is a new looney tunes cartoon.
@@yourtags4876 Seriously what are you saying?
This was by far the funniest episode yet! The video should just be renamed to How to Introduce People to Looney Tunes!
We get many Final Fight characters in Street Fighter, but where are the Captain Commando geust fighters? I'm fairly certain all 3 series exist in the same universe.
Hes in marvel vs capcom
@@rontia I know, is that Street Fighter though?
@@thebotbuilder i mean capcom fighter game that also has ryu ken akuma sakura dhalsim bison zangief chun li and guile.
@@thebotbuilder not to mention combos move inputs etc. Are pretty much the same for the street fighter characters.
@@rontia I know that but I personally view Marvel vs Capcom as a different series to Street Fighter
I remember playing this in the arcade as a kid, then going to the local park and pretending I was still in the game with my friends; great video as always James and Mike
You guys are an inspiration
See you next game
Awesome memories. I never got to go to an arcade, my parents didn't want me to go out gallivanting. Though later we got a console that had arcade games that we can experience from the convenience of our home.
Awesome memories. I never got to go to an arcade, my parents didn't want me to go out gallivanting. Though later we got a console that had arcade games that we can experience from the convenience of our home.
Captain Commando was one of my favorite games as a child. I always played as the ninja.
Fun fact: In the manual of the US release of Section Z, the protagonist is called Captain Commando.
Thank you! I was hoping someone would mention this!
Way back as a kid I remember picking up on company isms. Capcom for sure had its own. The “swipe”, the “slide”, the flame etc. The “swipe” you see with SF2 Guile’s Flash Kick, and Strider’s blade swipe. The slide you see with Strider, Dhalsim, Final Fight’s El Gado, even Mega Man, the double lariat was repeated with Haggar and Zangeif.
Damn I remember playing this at the Burlington Center Mall as a kid. Then we hit Friendly's after for dinner lol...
@Blue Max Loved it!
We would spend hours trying to play through this at our local amusement park. Man, this was a great game.
Someone makes a mod for any video game to randomly show the "jumpscare" of Looney Tunes intro, in the middle of gameplay.
Just a thanks James and Mike for getting me into retro gaming. My generation was the ending of Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, and the introduction of the Nintendo 64; though we did own an NES my dad bought back in the day. So many great titles out there from old school consoles that actually interest me more than modern games (mini-movies) that I never got to try. Even the sound of the buttons on retro controllers, particularly NES, is music
man, hearing James say "Ryu!" always cracks me up for some reason
I used to love the cartoons between like "I. M. Weasel" and "Secret Squirrel" or "Dial M for Monkey."
I'm weasel and cow & chicken(they are in the same universe) were freaking brilliant mate! A lot of jokes went over my head as a teen, they are actually pretty dark and surreal.
Maaan Dial M for Monkey was so good, I bet that it was some sort of original concept before being put inside Dexter's lab.
It's "super secret squirrel", "secret squirrel" was the old one
Totally. Definitely made staying up late worth it, just to see the reruns of these hits on NickToons.
Cartoon Network taught me English years before my school did. All the shows entioned by OP were awesome and not at all condescending.
The Looney Tunes discussion was hilarious! xD
I love this vid, love seeing what James used to do with his old games and manuals as a kid. Great vid guys, keep them coming!
That conversation about Looney Tunes @28:38 just made my week! LOL
11:00 oh Snap James - nice. It does sound VERY similar.
I'm glad my 6yr old love all the old cartoons I used to watch she's one of coolest nerds I know.
That's awesome. My 7 year old loves em too. She's also a badass when it comes to duck hunt!👍
Seeing you laughing is an absolute delight :)
One of my all time favorite arcade games. Great to see you all do it...dropped a ton of quarters being the baby
"All we need to see is someone flaming", well that does happen a lot in Capcom games, and in more than one context
Flaming pie great cd
Great Capcom Arcade game!!
I love watching the creative genius flow between you two. Especially James.... I feel like every time I watch james I can physically see his mental finesse flexing ideas and thoughts. He constantly has this idea or vision for something creative.
For a 1991 game, the graphic hold up remarkably well.
James and Mike are such different people. When they play games together, Mike plays to win and James plays just to relax and shoot the shit with a friend. It's kind of amusing to see Mike's reactions in the opening moments of this video. James is waxing nostalgic about his Capcom/Captain Commando memories from childhood and you can tell Mike is getting impatient to just play the damn game.
Right as they say "they just watch RUclips and play minecraft " then I realized that's exactly what I
Was doing at the moment. I'm young but I still enjoy old old stuff but damn I feel like a child
i like these because you guys are being yourselves. its great. thanks dudes
OMG this guys made me laugh so hard with their looney toons thing
I pooped my parents
Pants
We used to have the arcade of this at the Circle-K down the road from me growing up.
i hope to see some more capcom games maybe some fighters like darkstalkers or other beat-em-ups.
To answer your question, there was definitely 4 player in the arcade. Some forums stated that the machine had a dip switch swapping from 3 to 4 player, where the coin slot selects which character you are in 4p mode (it also explains why the version on capcom collection 2 for ps2 only had 3p as well). I definitely remember the coin slot selecting your character, but I'm getting a bit of mandela effect going on since I remember the arcade cabinet at our arcade being on two screens, with two sets of controls on each. Can't find any pictures resembling that though, so maybe it was just a fault memory from my gradeschool self, ha ha.
Had this on my modded PS1. Never got tired of it.
"Everything sucked till I learned this one simple trick!"
Red devil
unicorn
big mans
unicorns
Sounds legit.
Red devil sounds like the final boss, big mans the orcs, not sure about the unicorns xD
His list of bosses. Ie how far he got.
There are so many people on RUclips that feel like their forcing laughter but whenever it comes from you guys its always genuine and literally infectious not to mention what you're saying is hilarious. 🤣
That whole Looney Tunes Minecraft conversation had me giggle so hard xD
the girls with the electric tuning forks lookin buff af
Obviously this is an attempt by the woke left to force their agenda on us
"Can I just say Rye-u?" 😂
And then five seconds later he shouts "RYUUUU!!"
I don't care how many times he does that, there is something so genuinely funny about it, it never fails to make me chuckle at least.
yall are so great. Please make that video about the different gaming company tropes you talked about, sounds funny as hell.
I remembered playing captain commando with my friends I just love it and then play metal slug man it was nostalgic back then
The difference between James and other youtubers: Avgn, screams and blows shit up because that's part of his character. With other youtuber its: "HEY WHATS UP GUYS BACK WITH ANOTHER VIDEO" (WOOOW SOUND EFFECT, ZOOM IN) (BRUH SOUND EFFECT REPEATEDLY) (EXPLOSION) "YOU GUYS WONT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED" (RANDOM ZOOM TO HANDS AND HAND TRACKING.) Bit of an over exaggeration, but I mean pretty accurate.
"theres alot of things that are a shame"
2020 meta commentary
I did play this game back in the arcade and totally forgot about it until now. It was awesome back then and still looks fun now. Thanks for the memories guys.
The character's name was Baby Head in the arcade cabinet I played a long time ago
Didn't watch Looney Tunes much. Tom & Jerry was the thing for me.
Fred Quimby or Chuck Jones?
please answer correctly...
I watched both. Religiously.
@@kostantinosvlasakakis4106 I don't get why everyone refers to Fred Quimby, he was the producer, When Hannah Barbera were the creators and Directors.
God, how I hated Tom & Jerry as kid! LOVED loony Tunes but hated Tom & Jerry...It always the same exact thing every episode and I always felt so bad for poor Tom...Even when he was doing nothing that mouse would always find a way to hurt and/or drive that poor kitty crazy! Worst was when poor Tom was doing nothing but got in trouble for something that dumb mouse would do.
All I wanted to see was an episode where Tom finally comes out on top or as the "winner". I mean, he doesn't have to go and eat him but just give him a taste of his own medicine for once.
James Laforme - I think Tom ended up on top in a few episodes.
I think you guys have just inadvertently invented another RUclips Poop: random videos being rickrolled by the Looney Tunes theme.
Anyone else notice the cool shadows underneath every character? Exactly the same for every person and doesn't change shape ever. Once I noticed it I couldn't stop watching them
this was one of the best J&M episodes in a while
Wow. This was an amazing mental visual roller coaster! Laugh out loud with you guys. ! 😂🤣
Man, how I miss this game. I would love to see him again in a new game.
Played this in the arcade as a lad.good times!
Man I LOVED the captain commando arcade!
You should play some GBA games using the Gamecube adapter. I recommend Metroid Zero Mission and WarioWare.
You maniac, you blew it up! Damn you, damn you all to hell!
Btw. Capcom stands for Capsule Computer.
It stands for Captain Commando dammit!
The Baby Commando is a super genius infant who fights using a robot of his own design. I don't know if they ever explain why or how the baby is a super genius.
The guys with the red bandanas and knife def represent the guys from final fight.
James, what is your facial moisturizer secret? You’re absolutely glowing.
Maybe he's pregnant.
I bet your skin looks great too. Don't be so superficial ;)
next time try Gainground on sega
"Red devil unicorn big mans unicorn" Of course, the sacred texts!
One of the best Capcom beat-'em-ups. It's not as involved as something like AVP, but it's so much fun.
i just want to hear james talk about anything hes interested in or watch him beat a challenge. doesnt have to be negative. but im from the olden world, so figures i guess.
I'd like to think the baby's Stewie from Family Guy.
These hang outs are great.
Really enjoyed this game when I was young. Mack the knife was my fav.
I was hoping Mike would do his world famous Bugs Bunny impression
20:38 Part of it is that viewers enjoy humorous content, and your content happens to be funniest when you're angry about something.
In regard to the conversation around the 20:00 mark - James, I personally enjoy your "love letters" to films mostly forgotten today. I think balance is best - people love to watch people bash on things, but I also think its important to elevate older films to inform a newer generation of their existence!
One of the best soundtracks on the era. Love to hear every single time I see this game. Gameplay is solid too.
And BTW I saw this game in 4p and 2p configurations, mostly 4p.
I remember this title way back when I use to go visit my family in the island for the summer. Didn't get to play it since it was just arcade at the time, but I was very taken with the mech baby. I just kept drawing versions of him over and over at my aunts house. Don't know where all the illustrations went. Good memory though.
Hey I appreciated The Maltese Falcon episode! Love your deep dives into curiousities in films too.
thanks for making my Monday’s better
4:50 Don't forget Resident Evil now. It too is considered flagship, staple series for Capcom.
My all time favourite arcade beat em up
When you said firebird I knew exactly which red Raven you meant lol
That whole Looney Tunes discussion was a much-needed pick-me-up. I was cracking up along with you guys. Thanks, I needed that.
I was laughing almost as hard as you two were during the Loony Toon bit.
