EVERY NOTE THE MAN SANG WAS A VOICE LESSON. ALL YOUNG SINGERS SHOULD LISTEN TO THE "VINDEX ARIA" FOR AN EXAMPLE OF NEAR PERFECT PRODUCTION. WHAT IS NOW FASCINATING IS TO SEE THE VIDEOS AND THE TOTAL LACK OF PHYSICAL EFFORT OR FALSE SUPPORT IN HIS SINGING. THIS EXAMPLE IS NEAR AS PERFECT. I HAVE LOVED HIS ART FOR SOME 65 YEARS AND MY LOVE CONTINUES. I WILL TURN PAGES FOR HIM IN THE WORLD TO COME. MY ADONAI BLESS ARMENIA AND MAY THE HOLY ONE BLESS HIM. LOVE FROM A CHAZZAN
One of the very greatest baritones of all time- tremendous power, always under complete control- gorgeous tone, and such dynamic control- thank you for this wondering posting!
I was wondering if I should sing this song, ( after hearing all the great Italian tenors) but... after hearing this, I made up my mind, I will definitelly sing it. Such a great voice, great phrasing, perfect legato, tastefull glissandi, tastefull expression,....I will sing it like that! Thank you Gabba02 for posting this :)
One of those artists who had not many chances to go outside of the Iron Iron Curtain. He was grand singer who inherited technique probably from listening to Mattia Battistini old records. In 1960 he performed as a guest star at the MET, as Amonasro. It was the day before Leonard Warren died on stage.
This was an incredible performance. Probably the best version of a non-Italian singer I ever heard and I prefer baritones like him. Do you happen to know when it was recorded? Was that on Soviet tv? Of course the sound isn't as good as on a studio record, but that can be helped. I downloaded it and converted it into an mp3 file, than processed it through "Audacity" (equalizer settings: 1st) treble boost, 2nd) RIAA; amplification: +10dB) and - since that wasn't enough - finally through "MP3 Gain" (volume: 96,0 dB) and now sound and volume make it an even greater joy of listening to this most beautiful song. I didn't use Dolby or anything like that, because it would've made it sound sterile and cold. You may want to try that yourself. If you do I hope you like the result.
Im trying to find the sheet music for baritones but I can't find it anywhere. I know this is an old video but can someone help me find the sheet music..
Is this his only extant recording in Italian? One of the things that compromised his Met debut (aside from Warren just having died on stage) was that he sang Amonasro in Russian while everybody else of course sang Italian.
He was one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Certainly the greatest of the Russian baritones, much better than that other guy today (Hvorostovsky).
As far as i know he was born with an Armenian name, Pogos Karapetovich Liseetsian in the Russian city of Vladikavkas. He has sang in Armenian and has taught at the Yerevan Consevatory in Armenia. Where did you get the italian name from?
Smooth as silk🥰🌹
What a fantastic performance. Such a beautiful voice! Had to listen to him a second time.

this is the most beautiful rendition of a nonItalian baritone of the famous Neapolitan song!
ankhsnammon
One of the true bel canto baritones. He produces notes as though they were pearls emerging from his throat.
Beautiful. Your collection is a treasure.
Beautiful voice.I love him.♫♪ ॐ¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪
It is a very very beautiful perform. It is absolutly perfect!
This brought tears to my eyes because of it overwhelming beauty. Bravo!
Superb Armenian baritone. God bless his soul.
Thank you for making this talent known here as I never heard his lovely voice.
His voice makes me feel the pain in his words .
Oh, my! That's overwhelming! What a performance!
Glorious singing! Bravo! TY.
Wow, i didnt expect to love his voice so much! It is almost gravelly but has such power and deepness. Loved it
Song that is moving and without any compromise.
A glory of humanity!
The only version I admire more than this is Caruso's own. Bravissimo, Pavel!
Not the language or repertoire I associate with Lisitsian, so an interesting discovery. Lovely singing as always

Magnificent!
He sang Lieder in German. Outstanding.
IMO this song is sung in very good taste.Very Enjoyable

In USSR was one more great baritone George Ots, he was from Estonia.
Does anyone can tell where his Di Provenza clip was gone from Utube? A terrible loss.

Terrific. Get his An die Musik -- it's definitive.
dang!
Has any other human voice soared like this?

@mobhog
It is not right to compare the two. because they both stand on their own.

He was not russian, he was armenian.
@@boristemkin I'm pretty sure Hvorostovsky was Russian lol
@@bradycall1889 Hvorostovsky is russian. Lisitsian is not.
@picapin yes:)

The easiest A4 I've heard a baritone produce…
Emissione centrale senza armonici superiori. Nell'ordinario.
Che stupido.
