1980s coke snorting executives. 😄 It's going to be right at home in southwestern Connecticut.
3:46 ;-/
Where in CT is he? I’m in Danbury/Newtown :)
In 1986, I was visiting the UK with my girlfriend (Claire). We walked by a dealership in Folkestone that had a 928 on display through the glass.
I went in like a excited little kid (19) and sat in it. I loved that car. I still have a photo of that experience. 🇨🇦
That quirks and features overview was like watching Doug on 6x speed.
doug tries too hard and his humor falls flat 98% of the time... Nick knows who he is and so does the audience
I'd rather watch a quirks and features with Nick instead of Doug any day.
@@fisherh9111 completely agree, I prefer Doug's older style from like 3 years ago, but Nick's style of car presentation over both
That goes to show that Doug's videos are overly long. Nick keeps his videos packed with info without overstretching the run time.
And all the better for it.
Even after all these years I still think 928s are beautiful looking cars.
"It has a rear wiper!" This could be some kind of New Zealand euphemism...
Haha yeah we are known for them
“Porsche, there is no substitute”
What was that movie, Risky business ?
@@ianmitchell9102 Yea it's from Risky Business.
JohnPaulYT hmm, looks like university of Illinois!
@@ianmitchell9102 Great movie!
Trig midterm forthcoming.....
A 928 !
My branch manager drove a 928 back in late 80’s when I was a stockbroker in Sacramento
.
Back then it was quite the car, front V8 non air cooled Porsche ! Who ever expected that ?
I knew another guy back then that had a 911 but traded it in for a 928 because he thought he was settled down now & a 911 made the impression with clients that he was too sporty .
Reminds me of the period in my life Nick when life was carefree and seems like it was just yesterday.
Thanks for the memories Nick, reminds me of the song “When I Was Young”
Congratulations. One of the coolest Porsche’s, and something a bit different. Enjoy!
Oh puhlease Nick! That condom fell out of your back pocket when you sat down...the same UNUSED one you've been carrying around for almost thirty years. 😜
That’s a terrible thing to say 🤣🤣🤪🤣
Yep. If you look closely at his naked videos (plural), you'd notice that there is a ring mark on his left cheek.
Note: A friend of mine told me that. Why would I zoom in on his naked vids?
Snicker...Remember when my dad got hold of my wallet and my trusty Trojan was presented with the line-“You don’t have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of”...Technicality Vern. Lol
We all thought it 😂
Test Drive Scotland yeah obviously I thought it ,but I didn’t bloody well say it did I, anyway I’m sure it’s only a small thing, no big deal 🤣🤣🤪🤣
Love the 928s, still a good looking car.
How cool! Can’t wait to hear about your “Risky Business” in the 928 “Pimpmobile!”
The u boat commder
Love the film and car
The girl too!
Nice 👍🏾
The 928 was my dream car growing up. I always wanted a silver one!
Give it some love, make it a rolling restauration and, please, keep it, Nick!
In all seriousness, this takes me back to my all-time, eighth grade crush in glorious 1986. My crush's dad had the same 928 as this, in black. It was the neatest thing I'd ever seen. I kept imagining my crush as Jake, from Sixteen Candles, hopping out each morning before class. I've never forgotten that car.
Love the 928 especially with the checkered fabric upholstery, spaceship from a different time
One of the most underrated Porsches ever! I absolutely love that pop up headlights!!!😍
I’ve always loved the design of the 928. It was supposed to replace the 911 but turns out Porsche enthusiasts are a little resistant to change.
Called it! Congratulations and I'm glad you were able to find such a beautiful example of a manual 928.
ScarFace “Al Pacino “ just called he wants his Porsche back .
You don’t want him to ask twice as he carries his little friend.
I’ve had a couple dozen 928’s and they are wonderful, quirky, rewarding cars ❤️
Nice car!! This was one of my favorite cars growing up in the 80’s, especially after the movie Risky Business and later Scarface. Love the dealership scene. “And get me a phone with one of those scramblers!”
I was just starting high school in 1986 and the 928 was one a favorite of mine. It still has quirky appeal today...and it's got 8 cylinders.
Congrats!! My Dad had a 928 (with manual) which was brought into the USA from Germany and it was my favorite Porsche. We had a 911SC and 911 and 912 over the years but I loved the 928. Enjoy it! It handles really well by the way
Nick, you Kiwi bastard!
That's one sweet 928, Always loved that car starting with the last-series 944 S2's.
Hope you'll have many safe miles with her and keep her safe 'n running!
Yep..this car was on my wall in the 80's! ❤
"Absolutely every single thing works in this car".... Don't jinx it, Nick!
Next week's episode: My old new 928 has broken down
He certainly doesn't have the best track record with Porsche reliability.
Nick’s last words after buying a Porsche: “everything works in this car”😆
not for long
Love it man! My dad had a black 86 928 when new. He passed away a couple years after that.. always wanted to pick one up, but the maintenance cost on the cheaper basket case ones has always kept me away. It was the car that inspired me to be a car designer!
The 928 is my favorite Porsche-model. Congratulations Nick, and good luck with the plans you have for it. I'm certainly looking forward to following along.
$36K for a 86! That is a lot of money, Nick.
Uh, no it isn’t. A decent 928 with less than 30,000 miles will go for $40,000 to $80,000 depending on condition. Easily.
In Australia these went down to nearly $5k 😄
The only reason people like them now is due to Magnus Walker
not at all he got a great deal
@@ArtVandelayOfficial nope stop lying lol haters gotta hate lol next
@@SAMMYJR00777 you have no idea buddy
Nick, great buy on the 928S! I bought a 1984 928S March 30 after sitting for 16 years on blocks and under cover. I have been detailing it the last 3 months and just got the a/c charged and now ready for road trips! Always wanted one and pulled the trigger. I walk past my Huracan and Corvette to get to the 928 on Saturday morning Lotto and paper runs! Great buy! See ny RUclips series restoring mine.
Working pop-up headlights! Thanks for showing the quirks. How cool.
“Ferris Bueller’s on line two!”
Wrong movie.
In the early noughties I used to see a midnight blue 928 GTS parked on the street in a smart area of London. It just looked so F-ing cool and it kickstarted my love for these cars. One day, one day.
“I’m a double douchebag” caused me to spit out my drink - I love it!
The dark greens are some of my favorite colors on Porsches. Beautiful car nick!
This dude seems so genuinely happy with his Porsche you cannot but give the video a like
A timeless design even after 43 years . BAUHAUS style.
Awesome purchase Nick! Being an 80s kid I always loved this model and test drove one years ago but couldnt find a manual. Love the spec of green with the caramel interior. I'm so jealous.
LoveLoveLove our ‘89 S4. Dove Blue/ Marine Blue. Welcome to the club, Nick!
Oh, Nick. You've bought the most beautiful car ever made. That's what I thought back in 1986 and I'm quite possibly still right. I was, and continue to be, obsessed with the 1983-1986 Porsche 928 S. I lusted after that car. I can't believe you found one with a manual transmission-they're so rare. My favorite color interior from that time is the color leather you have (which was a special order-I can't remember the name though I want to say it might be "Champagne") or the light beige along with Prussian Blue paint (which was also a special order). I remember that a local dealer would take the wheels you have, chrome them-yes CHROME them, and paint the crests in the center-WOW! At the time, the car was in high demand here in Silicon Valley, so the dealer slapped on a second sticker in the window that read, "Additional Dealer Markup: $5,000", At the time, the cars were going for around $50,000 before the dealer's price gouging, Thank you for rescuing that pretty lady and getting her dolled up. Please make sure she goes to a good and appreciative home when it comes time to say goodbye. You're living my dream-have lots of fun!
I haven’t even watched the video yet, but I am chuffed to mint balls! I couldn’t be more excited that you’ve got a 928. I love them and can’t wait to see Nick Murray videos about one of these wonderful machines. They’ve even got sun visors in the back!
Pop up lights worth the $$$. Love the 928 Nick. It is like rear wiper was free.
Excellent choice ya crazy kiwi! It’s looks as if it smells inside 😂😂😂
Congratulations !! It’s a lot of fun driving an old classic Porsche. I own a 1989 930. Enjoy !!
You have the most calm pups! Nice to hear your take on the 928...was thinking of one.....but.....probably not any more.......
Love the color! Porsche’s look great in that green
"Who's the U-boat commender?" (Risky Business).
Great car, I had one for many years. Wish Porsche would make a 928 successor (Panamera Coupe)!
I have an 81 manual 928 in charcoal black which looks more like a metallic gray. I love it
Congratulations Nick! That’s a great buy and a fun car to own. It was one of my dream cars when i was a kid along with the Alpina B5 Biturbo of the era 🤙
I love it! I think the 928 was the first Porsche that I took notice of when I was very young - it just looked so different from other cars. I had a little gold Matchbox car that the doors opened and I remember it being one of my favorites.
Always loved 928s. Could've bought one of several back in the 90s for less than £5k..I will be definitely looking into buying one in the not too distant future..
Man congrats this thing is beautiful! Condition, color combo, everything! Around 2012 my dad had a beige 85.5' 928s manual that was a bit of project. Learned to drive stick in that car, was able to borrow it for the night driving to and from high school prom. Hope to have a 928 in similar condition to yours one day. Seeing this is so cool, many many fond memories in this car.
I love it. This is 1 of the few cars I’ve wanted to buy but never have. I look forward to future videos!
WOW! That was a nice buy! I will love to see it after all "the love" you are going to give to it. Cheers from Portugal.
Very cool car nick, I drove a 928 in the 80s before I drove my first 911 and fell in love, great experience for you.
Hey Nick! Love the purchase I’ve been dailying my 1986.5 928s for almost 2 years now! She’s Prussian Blue with the automatic box. Luckily like you I was able to get mine with 32k on the clock and I’ve put well over 15k miles on it myself :) She doesn’t skip a beat and I hope yours does as well and honestly couldn’t recommend these cars more
Love it welcome to the club. I own a ‘87 928 S4 and love it - gets looks all the time I take it out. Rides sporty soft. And good V-8 power sound. Looking forward to subsequent reviews
Porsches have a real following for the 928 here in Denver. Quite frankly, I have never been in one. Just never had an opportunity, but I know they are fast! Congrats. Heidi
The original design, lovely color and mabual. Great buy, will be waiting to hear about the diving experience. Enjoy! 👍😎
You’re a brave man Nick. Love the vids.
Congrats Nick. A manual 928 is a sweet ride.
So good to see you back in a "new" car Nick, looking forward to your 928 adventures :)
Verrry lovely color combination.
Congrats Nick!
I love the 928! Such a interesting car with an iconic design. Good choice!
A great project! I often get tempted by a 928. Enjoy 😊
congrats on finally getting a green Porsche. I would love to see what the detailer did, once its completed.
Love the green and tan. Needs to be driven wearing 80's clothes or hasselhoff style, sunglasses and chest hair!
It's my LIFE GOAL to own both the Porsche 944 Turbo and the Porsche 928 S3/S4 🤤 I'll love them for the rest of my life.
I had a Corgi version of one of these in a sort of bronze colour as a kid in the early 80s and dreamed of owning one, so I completely get why you purchased one.
Great choice, one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
Very cool, Nick! I'm a fan of the 928 so I look forward to seeing how this plays out for you. I hope you enjoy it!
I drove a stick model when it was practically brand new. What a magnificent car.
Well done that man. Great car I had an S4 for 8 years in the bush in WA. FANTASTIC CAR
Omg this is fantastic, I can't wait to see more from this series, thank you
Nick is mad as box of frogs. Love it
Can’t lemon law it this time Nick!
What could possibly go wrong?? ; )
Just sit back and watch :)
@@NickMurray Nothing for the rest of us who dare to buy a 928!
Nick Murray DOHC V8 which is basically (2) 944 engines strung together? Nothing really.
Reflections:
1. You are going to make money 💰 on this car Nick. Congratulations 🥳 to your deal.
2. When I bout my 928 I said: I’m just going to have it a couple of months and then sell it, still in my garage and it’s not for sale.
3. Please let me know when you start to feel more engaged with this car in comparison to your previous cars.
4. Only, and I mean ONLY a 928 owner understand it’s excellence. Try to explain to someone that is not a parent how it feels to become one, impossible, even for Tom Cruse.
Thanks brother Janko!
Color combination is in my opinion spot on... It Will shine like a Diamond after some work. 💖
Nice buy Nick. 👍
Very rare, manual transmission. Love it. Lucky dog.
I don't know if it was seeing Risky Business as a youth or what...but the 928 was the Porsche I always wanted.
Good Stuff! 👍😎
Nick is now a U-boat commander.
Very cool Nick! Congrats! The 928 market seems crazier than ever if you bought it right. Love the color combo and this ride will have me start watching your channel again. Tired of newer cars!
What a great project... that is the only model I really remember from back then growing up in Austria ;)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! I love 928's. I am considering a 928 or 944 as my next Porsche.
Always trying something new 👍 that’s what is cool about your channel Nick. Oh, and it looks like you bought a good one, great colour combo with the right transmission. Very nice 👏🙌.
Always loved that the clock on my 187,000 mile 1986 worked with perfect accuracy.
Loved seeing your dogs napping in the back trunk area.
Brilliant car Nick - lovely engine too and Car of the Year when launched!
I had the 928 and 928 S, fantastic cars perfect GT cruiser. Drove all over Europe
First car to have a chilled cubbyhole!!
Super cool nick. I wasn't even close to being alive when these were new but do appreciate them as kind of an odd model in the otherwise 911 filled history of Porsche. Enjoy!
OMG! Congradulations! I LOVE the 928! I Graduated from high school in 1983... Risky Business... Weird Science... That was my fantasy car! Front end V8 and rear drive... All I got was a 1985 Pontiac Trans Am... Porsche... there is no substitute!
You kept me on my toes waiting for an exhaust note! But now I feel like acquiring a Durex product...what just happened.
I'm with you. Keep it stock and replace all the missing trims.
You done good, Nick, and Tui and Smudge agree. One of my favorite cars and the best GT of its era. Finally getting the respect it deserves; however, your buying one could end that...
Looking forward to future videos of the new acquisition! Congrats.
I love it. Great color and nice combo with the interior. Greetings from Belgium.
Didn't see that one coming! Really nice! An early 928 is on my own to do list! Pre facelift rear lights are much nicer. Look forward to seeing this little project develop. Congrats, Cowan
Some 80’s blockbusters featuring this car: Scarface and Risky Business. Also the engine sounds of the DeLorean in Back to the Future were V8 noises from the 928.
this was my dream Porsche at one point, but in S4 guise. Congratulations!
