I was always a post punk guy, but loved Daniel Lanois, this album and performances by Emmylou and his production opened my eyes to a lot of new sounds. It is just fantastic. Still remains to this day one of my favourite lp's, right next to Joy Division and Sigur Ros.
Nach dem Tod meiner geliebten Ehefrau, mit der ich 43 Jahre äußerst glücklich verheiratet war, hat mir Emmylous Stimme bei der Bewältigung meiner Trauer geholfen. ❤
This bass player is phenominal ! I do believe he played the infamous Moog Taurusbasspedals on this tune in addition to his slick fretwork. Thank you for this,
আমি যখন যাব আমার জন্য কেঁদো না..... . Lyrics: When I go don't cry for me In my father's arms, I'll be The wounds this world left on my soul Will all be healed and I'll be whole Sun and moon will be replaced With the light of Jesus' face And I will not be ashamed For my Savior knows my name It don't matter where you bury me I'll be home and I'll be free It don't matter where I lay All my tears be washed away Gold and silver blind the eye Temporary riches lie Come and eat from heaven's store Come and drink and thirst no more So weep not for me my friend When my time below does end For my life belongs to him Who will raise the dead again It don't matter where you bury me I'll be home and I'll be free It don't matter where I lay All my tears be washed away
In a quiet, lush and beautiful Utah mountain valley, 120+ women, children, and unarmed men from a wagon train bound for California were slaughtered by Mormon settlers. Afterward, none were buried. The Mountain Meadows Massacre; please research it. The largest mass murder in American history until 9-11-2001. Chillingly, it also occurred on 9-11… 1857. I dedicate this song to their memory, remembered by few.
This is truly a beautiful song. This is a great rendition. Pity that some of Emmy-Lou's words were very feint, words I feel are important to hear. No complaints though. The guy on the bass also has a stunning voice. Very enjoyable to listen to.
GREAT PERFOMANCE, GREAT SONG, GREAT RECORDING! WHAT ELSE? mASTERPIECE!

Was it produced by lanois yeah? - figures. Guy has a great thing for country production. I’m a post-punk guy myself too.
… the bass on the album version is just 🙏🏼
Yeh this was a great album. Julie Miller, who wrote this song, did a great album with Blue Pony, although this song appears on her next album.

Masterpiece. Thanks Emmy, Julie and Buddy.
The guy on bass is phenominal! Give a listen to hayde bluegrass orchestra for this song, they do a traditional bluegrass vibe to this.

Lyrics:
When I go don't cry for me
In my father's arms, I'll be
The wounds this world left on my soul
Will all be healed and I'll be whole
Sun and moon will be replaced
With the light of Jesus' face
And I will not be ashamed
For my Savior knows my name
It don't matter where you bury me
I'll be home and I'll be free
It don't matter where I lay
All my tears be washed away
Gold and silver blind the eye
Temporary riches lie
Come and eat from heaven's store
Come and drink and thirst no more
So weep not for me my friend
When my time below does end
For my life belongs to him
Who will raise the dead again
It don't matter where you bury me
I'll be home and I'll be free
It don't matter where I lay
All my tears be washed away
Thank you!
