Whether you like hip-hop or not, LL is a role model for any young person trying to accomplish a dream, especially in the face of some serious adversity. I admire the hell out of this guy. Now look at him - pushing 60 and still doing it
I’ve always liked him. I think in interviews and talk shows he just appears to be a really good person, with a good head on his shoulders and a great mix of confident, humble, and grateful.
I really felt that. “A break through?!!!” “A break through?!!!” and the way he laughed and explained how much it ment etc. I also liked when he described what he does as painting on silence. Great interview!
One thing i admired about LL is that thru the history of hip hop..as trends and artists came and went..he always stayed in his own lane and thrived in it...a true legend of the game indeed
The Stones are still rockin’ and they’re in their 80’s. Yes, I think it is important for younger generations to see that you can have a sustainable career well into middle age and beyond. You have to stay cool though. 😊❤✌️
Thanks to Adam Horovitz for taking that demo of teenage LL, having a listen then passing the demo onto Rick Rubin. This was the start of hip hop and Def Jam becoming huge!
Nice try sir but this was NOT the start of Hip-Hop, the hip-hop genre had already been established as an underground movement by Black culture 10 YEARS prior to LL ever being signed. Stop trying to give credit for hip hop to some random Fanboy. The founding father of hip-hop was Clive Campbell aka DJ KOOL HERC back in the early 1970's!
Keep rocking LL! And my gosh, you don’t look your age At ALL!!! 👏👏 Totally pegged you in your 40’s!! Keep it up Sir!! Also Thank you, and Welcome Back to the Game! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I remember on The Five Heartbeats where there was a line about two hip hop artists still robbing in their 60s. LL Cool J is beyond phenomenal his gift to the world is hip-hop it's the gift that continues to give
This Lady Loves Cool James. I’m basically a pop and rock girl, but I still remember the very first time I heard Mama Said Knock You Out. I was immediately intrigued and got my jam on. I still jam on it. Loved LL Cool J on Lip Sync and admire his acting skills. And of course, you have to mention how fine he is! That is one cup of Hot Chocolate!
i love that last thing he says....but also, the younger gen can see how it's done...man i love the OG's coming out with new music lately...I can finally listen to rap again
This is somebody worth it!! Somebody you are not afraid to know. Somebody important. Somebody who has earned his success the right, positive way in life. Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🥳 🎊!! Awesome achievements!
Great interview!! LL is a living legend! I tell this story a lot but I'll never forget getting my first LL tape. The year was 87, I was in 5th grade, in the cafeteria at school when a kid played me some of his Jam Pony Express mixtape. I sat listening in amazement like I was stuck in that moment in time. I said what is this?? and how do I get a hold of some!? He said it's rap music and his older brother put him on. As soon as I got home that day I said to my mom, MOM! I want to listen to rap music!! lol. Bless her heart, she drove me to the mall so we could go to the music store. I walked in and literally said to one of the guys working, hey I want to listen to rap music. He was probably laughing in his head but he was super cool and patient. He carefully picked out 3 cassette tapes for what he nor I knew at the time would impact my life forever. He picked out LL Cool J - Bigger & Deffer, Beastie Boys - Licensed To Ill, and Kool Moe Dee - How Ya Like Me Now. They were all I listened to all day every day and it's when I fell in love with Hip-Hop culture. I'm sure most every Hip-Hop head has a story of when they found Hip-Hop and that's mine. Almost 40 years later and we're still rocking. Nothing but love and respect for L ♥
My childhood!! 😊 I remember begging for his album...my cousin brought it and we played it so much my dubbed tape popped!!! He said he grew up with his fans and he's right. He makes great art
It's aight. Not as good as i hoped for. He could have came way harder even for his age. Majority beats suck which makes it bad for me because the beats are what make up majority albums IMO. The hottest track is Post Modern. Beat is bananas and so are the lyrics. I have that one track on replay in my car 😂
I was jammin to LL since he 1st started, he's always been a positive influence to everything he does and it shows! Keep doing what you love, age is nothing more than a worthless number.
Waaaay back in the day my best friend, mom, and I went to a concert at Lehigh University. LL was the opening act. The crowd was waiting in line to get in and he came walking by with a bunch of people. He was slapping people's hands and when he got to us he stopped and HUGGED my mom! All the girls were jealous!😊
L.L. Cool J's music did impact my teenage generation. "I need Love", "I'm going back to Cali" and "Mamma's said knock you out" in the 1980's propelled Hip Hop into the 1990's! He was the biggest rap artist, then!
LL Cool J is still something like a Phenomenon...The F.O.R.C.E. is🔥
I bought the wax Lp a few days ago

LL Cool J came out the year I was born (1985). He is one of the best to do it, hands down

As good of a person as one can hope to meet.
This is so funny. He does not have to do this. But here we are. 😅
L.L. Cool J's music did impact my teenage generation. "I need Love", "I'm going back to Cali" and "Mamma's said knock you out" in the 1980's propelled Hip Hop into the 1990's! He was the biggest rap artist, then!
