NBA Showtime: NBA on NBC is the final arcade release in the NBA Jam series of titles developed and released by Midway for Midway Vegas Hardware in 2000, NBA Showtime features a roster of players that was up-to-date for the time (1999 season) with 160 players while providing a full 3D experience to the NBA Jam style of play. You can also improve on player stats and enjoy superstar moves.
This is still to me, the best basketball game ever created and a good contender for all time greatest sports game. Midway completely nailed that 3D transition.
2k sucks. NBA street 1 and 2 are the best basketball games ever imo. I want that fantasy arcade style gameplay if I'm gonna play a basketball videogame, not some supposedly realistic shit so you can pretend like you know basketball.
In general, arcade style sports games need to come back, Fifa Street 2 (only that one btw), NFL Blitz. Heck I'm waiting for arcade 1up to release this game in a mini cabinet

The Gold Edition is a step up from the console ports. For example, Pippen is still on the Rockets in the console ports. The Gold Edition he's on the Blazers(Best team in the game with 3/4 of the roster available imo) @2:39 A rookie Steve Francis is on the Rockets now with Walt Williams(Pippen trade) @2:44 Elton Brand is on the bulls as well(I think).

It's weird how they followed this up with NBA Hoopz (at least on Dreamcast) which should have been better but somehow completely broke it by making it 3 on 3. Sold it almost as soon as I got it, which never happened before.
I remember going over my homies house and whip his A%$. Funny thing was we would all build our team and save on memory chip that was on Sega dreamcast controller, like a mini ipod. So it didn't matter who's controller it was u just bring your card put it in controller and its crackin...I used the horse as well as on of my characters. Broke many rims with the horse.
