Cut the filters open to see if their built the same. Maybe the oil presure is higher or lower on one than the other thats my concern. Great video and thank you for the time for diing this.
TO you fram bashers !! FRAM - The FRAM name is to oil filters as Trojan is to... well, you know. Oddly enough, both are protection devices working on a similar principle. There is a lot to like about the FRAM filter beginning with the grippy coating on the end of the canister that helps you remove or install it. Inside is where the critical parts come together though. The FRAM filter features a cellulose/synthetic blend media that will stop particles 20 microns and larger, and the flow rate, dirt trapping capability, and surface area are all designed to surpass the OEM filter. The FRAM filters also feature an anti-drain back valve at the bottom and a cold start/overpressure bypass valve at the top. Interestingly, instead of metal end caps on the filter media, FRAM uses fiberboard caps that are glued and sealed. Some take exception to the fiberboard end cap preferring a metal end cap for added rigidity, durability, and protection. Nonetheless, whatever the end cap material is made from, as long as it is sealed it will work.
Good video. You're keeping it real. And it's good to know about the alternatives. But I will gladly continue paying 17 to 23 dollars for the K&N or Amsoil filters.
hey buddy sorry it's been a while surprised to see u working on quad cross referencing filters happens all the time the only difference is the Number of microns in the filter and some filters run at different pressures you have have to be careful as sometimes they will fit but may not be good for the engine but good stuff showing the cross referancing
Good evening sir, I've been watching your channel for a very long time and just want to congratulate you on your recent subscriber achievement. I also wanted to express how much I like the intro you have now, suites you very well. Have a great day!
I know its an older post but i have to say even though the orange Fram fits and work's the black Fram made for motorcycles should be different internally and have a stronger can and different bypass setting
All good tips. I can't find a substitute oil filter to fit my 2005 Polaris Sawtooth. Was hoping something from Napa, even if its for a Mitsubishi or whatever as long as it fits and works.
Ah man I wish this video had come out a week ago :) I just changed the oil on my kawasaki vulcan 1500 yesterday. I boight that same $6 fram filter. Now I know foe next time. I have one of the supertechs on my pickup
@@robertmoreland1220 not true. Trico Group has acquired Fram Group. The deal includes Fram filters and Autolite spark plugs brands. The parent company of WIX Filters and Filtron has been acquired by Mann+Hummel.
All you have to do to prove it is take a saw to it & take it apart. They are made with less filter pleats, garbage metal & cheap cardboard internal components.
Not true at all. Water cooled engines all run fine with 160 degree thermostats and then the oil and the engine lasts far longer IF the cooling system is good enough to keep the water temp 170 degrees. We have a 2015 jeep grand cherokee 5.7 with 160 stat. With correct computer tuning no cel, works great. We also have a 2003 polaris ranger 500. This utv has a 160 stat but stock fan turns on at 210. I tuned it to come on at 170. Now it's 17 years later runs like a top. In case of this polaris it doesn't even need a bigger radiator, nothing to run 170.
Yeah, be sure and go cheap on your oil filter. Its only one of the most important maintenance items on your 4 wheeler. Napa filters are Wix. Best you can get.
Interesting video. But you sure are lucky with any of those prices... my filter cost $18.38 I guess any of those prices would be a bargain for me. Shoot lots and stay safe... or ride hard.
no fram orange deaths wix or heck stp may be better lol i guess any thing new is ok fer a wile but fram bypass vales are in wrong spot and few other crappy things .....thanks i like cheap but i use wix on a lot
Ive been cutting open oil filters for many yrs.I look to see the amounts of dirt and metal trapped inside between services ! there is a reason fram filters are cheep ! there are not any fram filters I would use ever !
Fram is the worst oil filter in the world. (Beside not running one). They use bent sheet metal for pressure relief. (One time pressure release and it is weaker allowing dirty oil bypass) They use a cardboard seal for the bypass seal. (We all know what cardboard does in oil).
Cut the filters open to see if their built the same. Maybe the oil presure is higher or lower on one than the other thats my concern. Great video and thank you for the time for diing this.
Thank you for an informed well put together video
NAPA gold has some fancy filters.... a magnet st the bottom...

One nice thing about filter comparisons is ya have a couple left over to get ya to next few oil changes. Good filter comparisons bud!
Very cool.. I am tired of buying the Polaris oil and filter for my ranger. It's time to see if I can get them cheaper

Penny saved is a penny earned. Good job brother 😁😁

Would these filters work on a 2003 Polaris sportsman 500HO?

Very cool great video
I catch the Fram XG 7317 on sale for my 2012 400HO. Thanks for the info.

+WHO_TEE_WHO Thank you!
Thank you sir!. What you think about oils?
I use Mobil one 0w40 in my Polaris magnum.
Go with wix if you can’t get a Polaris filter. I wouldn’t use Fram on my riding mower
Fram filter company owns wix and has changed all their filters over to Fram build quality

I wouldn’t put a Frame filter on anything !! Complete junk .
Fram=shit
amen, i refuse to use Fram on any thing i have
Agreed, Fram is complete shit!

I have a 2000 polaris sportsman 500 is that the same oil filter as well?
I have a 2000 Polaris sportsmen 500. Can I use 5w50 oil . I was wondering what filter I can order for the best deal.. thank you
Do you use Polaris oil, or something else similar?
Counting pennies on oil filters?
Polaris filter is about $14 at my dealer but with my discount I get them for $9.85.
Sometimes filters are designed to operate in high temperatures which atv generally would run a lot hotter than a car engine.

You get what you pay for.
Not all filters are made equal.!!!
Fram's famous 3 metal clips vs polaris 500 engine

Fram owns wix and change the design of the Wix filter over to the frame design on the filter when they bought them several years ago
Walmart white filters are WIX. same as NAPA for less
Would not use a Fram filter too many reviews bad ones

Advice: fill it with oil first !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ive been cutting open oil filters for many yrs.I look to see the amounts of dirt and metal trapped inside between services ! there is a reason fram filters are cheep ! there are not any fram filters I would use ever !
Do not listen to this man please whatever you people do out there and do not ever ever use Fram filters they will destroy your machine
great info jiujitsu2000 !!!!!
+Carbon Copy Thank you!
hi-flo oil filters
Nothing made by fram is good, wouldn’t use on my lawnmower

Yeah, Polaris filter just cost me about $13
And they're made by Wix which is a far far far superior filter to anything else out there except napa platinums! Fram are trash!
For those interested $6 for Microgard #MGL51334 which is made by WIX works as well
"cheap" You must not like your atv's if you are using cheap oil filters!!
Fram JUNK.
