I just found your channel and I am power watching them. Your explanations are easy to understand and you spend just the right amount of time on showing things. Most spend 3 days explaining it over and over again. You give the info and then move on. Great Job !
As a retired auto tech. The bf 300 is my first quad. Any pre warnings would be greatly appreciated. Im in florida. I ride in deep sugar sand. And thats about it. Great channel sir very informative
Working on a Polaris Outlander 500, 2005. B.I.L bought it for $500. Previous owner could not keep belts on it. Long story short, after numerous check, found the front motor mount had sheared off. This caused the motor to shift under torque, misaligning the belt. The secondary was sticking. Thoroughly cleaned it and files the wore groove on the helix. Rollers were like new!! Re-assembled and tested like new!! Never seen this type of secondary, looked at 100s on line no success. But, unit seems to run fine, so let it go for now, until it fails, then replace with new one. Much moola…..
I know this has nothing to do with this video but I have a question. I have a 2002 Polaris 500 HO starts an idle great give it fuel it dies replace the CDI box. Any other suggestions?
@lancebidwell-br2sb If your hearing the scraping against the clutch cover my guess is the inner clutch cover is either not in the correct position or the rubber mounting grommet that holds the inner clutch cover is worn out. You’ll have to pull both clutches to replace that.
I have a 2001 polairs sportsman 500ho when i put it in reverse it makes a bad clunking noise but its fine when i go forward what do you think it could be?
When you had your wildcat 1000x did you have to give it. But if gas when you start it cause I’ve got a 2015 wildcat 1000x and it does sometimes if I don’t give it gas for. A few seconds it’s been to a shop and they said it was normal any experience on this
@Mudpro4life This one didn’t do that but I have heard of some doing that. I’m not really sure what would cause it, possibly a weak fuel pump or throttle position sensor mis adjusted.
@@rockspowersports Thanks, it is timed exactly with power stroke, possible the clutch damper's fault? ( the fat tooth gear with plastic damper ring between tranny and VBT clutch)
Hey, I can’t find a clutch on eBay for the same quad bike. I’ve got a Polaris sportsman 550cc 2016 and everybody says that they don’t have a clutch that I need in stock. Do you have any idea what’s the part number and if they’re different compare to older ones

They didnt make a 550 in 2016. you either have a 450 or a 570. Thats why you cant find a clutch.
Hi Rock I have a 700 diesel and I have changed oil filter and fuel filter and runs ok. I have the same problem. The problem is in high or low it runs to a certain speed and won’t go any faster and I can give it more fuel but won’t go any faster. It used to go faster. I have no one here that works on diesel. Can you give me what to look at.
@Bearupfarm I know you said it has lack of performance pretty much. Is it smoking out the tail pipe at all? Do you have a service manual for that machine or for the engine?
@@rockspowersports no I don’t have a service manual. It does not smoke. It’s pulling the small trailer ok with a load on it. It’s just not picking up speed. It will run about 15 mph and Give it max throttle and RPM goes up but speed stays the same.
@@bearupfarm1818 With what your describing, it really sounds like the engine is running properly if the RPM’s are increasing. To me it sounds like the power is not being transferred to the ground enough which would point to the drive belt or clutches. If your secondary clutch is not shifting out all the way it would do what you are describing. I would pull the clutch cover off and rev it in neutral to make sure your clutch’s are properly shifting in and out.
Hey boss it seems i have the same issue with my 2008 polaris sportsman 800, it does that noise when im turning or sometime when its running straight, do you think i should change the sprin as well?
@gilbertolara3065 The noise I was hearing in this one was the old drive belt pieces being tossed around by the clutch. Does it sound like the noise is coming from the clutch area on yours? At least with your 800 the clutch is on the side of the wheeler so it’s a little easier to get to.
@rockspowersports Yeah it kinda sounds like it's coming from the back as well. Sometimes it does it randomly or when I'm turning, at first i thought it was something with rear dif but it's more like a clunking sound
Another great example of someone who finds a problem and fixes it quickly and properly !!

Rocks powersports i have a question my primary clutch has little bit play ?? Thats normal or not? Please answer my concern and thank you so much
How much play in front diff cups requires rebuilt? 4x4 still works, no major fluid leak from front diff case.
Hi rock i have a 04 sportsman 600 twin herd belt shaping against clutch cover replaced belt still hear the slapping why lance

@rockspowersports I'll check on that thank you
A button on the handlebar would be a great way to shift gears doing away with that clunky shifting arm.
I mean these machines cost a fortune .

Aluminum shift arm? I got a bf 300 for my first quad. Simple nimble easy and waay fast.

Super job Sir! My 2010 Sportsman 550 rid nice, but there is some clucking sound at idle. It could be clutch?
It would be the clutch. Really only one way to find out, tear into it.

I would compare this with my 2008 artic cat 550
Very similar. Neither company makes anything. 100% contacted out, to the cheapest company. Then slapped together.
You are amazing!!
Putting colored lights and speaker systems on an ATV is like sprinkling diamonds on a turd.
Give the darn thing away & get you a Honda!
Or Kawasaki.
That's right!
