For me, plastic back is and will be always better than glass. Simple way to prove it: drop it!
I agree.... Plus I carry my phones in the wallet flip cases.... I've always been happy with Moto Mid-range phones.....
Also easier to replace the battery if it gets damaged.
You right mate
Yeah and like who the fuck doesn't use a phone case? Complaining about a fucking plastic back is such a Karen thing to do.
I'm one who agrees and don't quite understand the obsession with glass. I always buy a case to keep the phone body pristine anyway.
I have the Motorola 2021 Edge and love it. The new norm is that phones don't come with a charger anymore so this is not really a con. I easily get 2 days between charges. In the camera Pro mode, this thing takes absolutely amazing pictures. Good to hear about the extended support. I really don't get why Motorola phones are not more popular than they are.
what carrier? getting 5G?
Marketing. Unlike Samsung is spending millions of dollars on advertising and marketing, Motorola has been very quiet.
There are definitely better than a lot of these big name brands and cost much cheaper with better specs
Motorola users... I've never had a motorola in my hands. No clue what kind of phone this is
I've always used flagship phones but last time I got Samsung A class instead of S and found it served me just as well.
Can you help me out with some info on USING the phone which cannot be known by specs.
These are the kind of things I'm more interested in and reviews NEVER cover it.
1. Does the keyboard have dedicated number line. (I absolutely HATE having to shift to use numbers)
2. Does the auto correct change correctly spelled words to non existent words? My last 2 Samsungs did this.
3. When typing are the predictive words sensible? Again so many predict words that aren't words.
4. When typing does the page jump to other pages? The OnePlus is terrible for this... You typing away and the page jumps to other apps constantly. And I can't seem to get to these pages when I try on purpose.
5. Is the weight balanced? Again the high end OnePlus is way heavier than Samsung and it's all in bottom so it's difficult to hold and type.
Appreciate any USER FRIENDLYNESS points you want to share with me.
Thanks so much.
This is a flagship featured, midrange specced, low end build quality smartphone. You get nearly any feature you could ask for on a smartphone in 2023. You get near maximal value from the SoC and hardware performance to match. You get plastic back, frame/gorilla glass 3 front screen build from 2013.
If you paid $600 for this phone, especially 128gb version, I am sorry. If you paid $500 for this phone, that's a fair price. If you paid $250 because it's now being cleared out for the 2023 version, you got a great deal.
I have the Moto Edge 2022. Flawless. Fingerprint reader super fast. No problems at all.
Thanks for the honest review. I'm being offered a free upgrade to this phone and I can see why Verizon might be doing it considering the cons of the price it's going for in the current market. That said, since it's free, and since my current phone is a very low end budget phone, this sounds like a nice selection.
I just ordered it. It's worth it since its free!
How is Verizon offering a free upgrade?
@@Tadders Idk but I took it. It was a 5 day deal so the deal is over. Im sure that there is a catch, but idk yet...
@@Tadders Got a text about a free upgrade via their website as a holiday deal. Unfortunately turns out it was for my father's phone on the same plan so I didn't end up getting it before the promotion ended last week.
@@Tadders just got it for free as well
Build quality is good
Cameras are not bad.
3 years of OS updates/ 4 years bi monthly security update
Processor is great
Screen is beautiful
Closest to stock android next to the pixels.
All good points
Camera is bad....very bad 😢
Getting this phone now refurbished in 2024 for under $160 US, under $200 US shipped internationally, great deal especially for someone with only a $200 US budget
Especially for someone like me when I cut into my food budget, saving up for that only took me 4 months.
You faced any problems with this refurbished phone ? Like burning screen or lines mics all good ?
Any phone that has a light that comes on with a shake and a 256gb memory is a phone for me !!!!
Ya its a great feature that real comes in handy .
I'll top that because I was originally about to sell for 256GB myself but waited too long..... JUST got me the 512GB unlocked Cosmos Blue fairly cheap off Amazon $270 (for a 2 year old phone) standard package charger and cable included in its Motorola box, and I ain't hardly even broke the storage yet! 😂 But I do mobile gaming a bit every here and there, so it's worth it to save the battery the effort/trouble,
Glad to see Motorola going back to solid software support. Haven't had any consistency since they got bought by Lenovo. First Motorola G was updated almost as fast as a Nexus.
Just picked up this phone for $350. I was a long time LG phone user. With them no longer selling phones I had to find something else running stock or near stock android. This phone is great. $600 honestly is still fair for what you get, but for $350 it was a steal.
how did u get this for 350
@@youngindiabraveindia9032 motorola had it on a new years sale for 349. It was unlocked and direct from them. Plus I traded in an old phone and got another 100 off. Its a good phone, but for whatever reason my battery life is nowhere near as good as the moto 5g ace I replaced.
@@youngindiabraveindia9032 Best Buy has it for $349 right now.

@@AmitKumar-hb6tc Just picked up the edge plus 512gb for $499 USD. It's awesome.
Just picked mine up yesterday and there was a turbo charger in my box.
Amazon? That might be a 3rd party reseller, which would mean the warranty is valid from when the reseller bought the phone. I just recently found that out on another phone I have.

I hope Motorola makes a comeback. Performance wise it is way better than the 6a just maybe not in the camera department.
Have you used Samsung... How compare performance between this motorola Samsung which has some issues. Tks
Hello TechRight! After watching this video, I decided to get the Motorola Edge '22, through eBay, it's refurbished, but in excellent condition and unlocked ( my Carrier is Metro by T-mobile ). The reasons why I'm getting this is pretty much what you reviewed here, and with Security Updates until '26 and up to Android 15, 14 at best, it's a departure from Nokia. My soon-to-be Former phone, the Nokia 6.2, was the last of Nokia's achievements. 4K video recording, HDR support ( Pure Display technology ), but its time is pretty much up, Android 11 and the last Security Patch was 6 months ago, October '22. The G60 doesn't have 4K recording or HDR, or for that matter, a higher refresh rate ( I think it's 90 or 120, one of the two ), features that I would give it another shot. Well, this phone, as you documented, has a refresh rate of 144, and HDR10+ support...And it has wifi 6 technology, my Acer Aspire 5 laptop has that, so it's a win-win for me. I can't wait to put the Last of Nokia's notable phones, the 6.2 to digital pastures and say Hello to Moto ( for the 1st time ) with the Edge '22 Model! Thanks for making my decision an easy one!
P.S...I was thinking about getting the g82, but this one is an excellent phone for me to get. 😊!
Agree but as me as dishwasher I would not buy this phone 😂
I just got this on sale at Best buy for $250 :) can't wait to get it!! The water resistance does scare me tho. $250-$300 is my high end for phones lol
Water resistance is just paying a company to say your phone's water resistant to a degree. We shouldn't be using phones around water anyway.
I don't understand why they went with a lower megapixel camera than the 2021 version. I love my 2021 Motorola edge with the 108 megapixel camera.
My dad recently upgraded to this from a Samsung A20. HUGE IMPROVEMENT for him. :)
I think the $499 is a very fair price for all this phone offers..... Motorola has been the leader for Large Battery & now the 144 refresh rate..... Apple & Samsung have very loyal fans that wouldn't even look at a Motorola at any price..... Motorola will sell it just fine through all the carriers.... It would be a waste of Moto Money to try to build for the Tech Snobs.... While this phone brings Good Stuff to.... The Masses... I'm getting it to use with my Chromebook.....
Buddy 499 in USD or Canadian
Man, this is $1040 in Canada still. Fido is offering a deal for only $6.50/month for 24months. But I'd have to upgrade my plan for $20 more. I'm honestly just so mad they took away SD slots in the new Samsungs. I still have my s10+. I was refusing to change phones till they brought it back but looks like everyone's ditching the SD slot. I have maxed out 256gb internal and 400gb external, it's crazy to make people buy multiple phones who need lots of storage.
The price ($599 retail, $499 deal still on Motorola's website - I think $399 to $420 would sell strong!), no headphone jack (you do get 2 speakers!), not waterproof (don't submerge this!), no wall charger included (I hate that!) and the in display finger print reader are my only 'criticism' ... everything is basically what Consumers have asked from Motorola for years .... the design is 2022 (let's see what Motorola does different in 2023 - I'm thinking camera lenses will be different).
Buddy 499 in USD or Canadian
thoughts on the memory size (with no expandable microSD)? Given the camera megapixels you're going to zap all of that memory away fast.
Why are chargers not included anymore. We spend hundred on phones and they can't incl a stupid piece of cord and plug!!? Ugh
Getting this phone in 2023 from a box store, the one claiming they have more than better buys 😉. On sale for $250. For me it was a great buy. Maybe even the "Best". Coming from Ulefone armor phones, I no long need a rugged phones, it feels tiny and light. Kind of missing my massive battery. However i got a super rugged case (still not nearly the weight or rugged feel of an ip69 phone), but feels good in the hand. I definitely suggest a good case, the phone bare does feel a bit fragile, but that could just be me. Screen is beautiful, battery is passable for moderate use for almost a day, cameras are good enough for me (I'm not a photographer or influencer). Sound is good, decently loud but wont blow your socks off. Comes with dolby atmos. Through Bluetooth it sound awesome paired with good speakers. With mint mobile picks up 5G+ without a problem and wifi6 straight from my router. All in all I'm pretty happy with it for the price.
the first con...you could buy a durable case for it....3rd con...i got the wall charger, data cable and the pin to push out the sim card draw...4th con...i got the phone for 211.00 dollars on boost mobile. there price is only for this month with 512gb of space. (February 2023). i love it the phone... its great
I feel like the charging brick con isn't really a con at all...I just think it's self awareness on the manufacturer's side that's been greenwashed, since the cord that comes with it isn't long enough to consume content when sitting in a chair more than 6 feet away from the charging source and the fact that when we buy a brick we would probably gravitate towards an option with a USB C to USBC cable that fits our needs when we use our phone while charging. I believe most included cables are around 3ft (or 1m in non-exact/rounded up or 0.9144m in exact metric measurement) long.
Bought a new Motorola Edge today [2022] for $198 including tax.... I think thats a good deal 256 MB Unlocked..
256 MB is a very small amount of storage. If that was gigabytes that would be good. I couldn't make something with that small storage and no SD work
I just bought this phone for $140 brand new.
How has been your experience with this mobile?
@@JALALKHAN28500 pretty good so far... A bit slow with the camera.
Damn that's a good deal. I found one for $110 refurbished excellent condition. About to buy I've heard good things
@@florida5451 I traded it for a new Pixel 8. The Moto Edge was cool and the deal was unbeatable, but had problems with the camera, extremely slow and laggy, wasn't normal.
Picked this up brand new for 139 in January 2024
Not bad for the price
I just bought this phone at 399 unlocked in Canada for 8gb/256gb version. It's a steal of a phone
I have a deal with verizon I will get it for $120
$299 deal with boost mobile. 👏💪
$499 and no charger.... dayum! I buy everything a year late. Just bought it 3 minutes ago for $139 refurbished on flea bay . Mainly for the wireless charging option, My last 3 androids, the charge port goes to crap, cord just randomly falls out, even when i'm sleeping, and after 2 snooze buttons it shuts off cause it wasn't plugged in all night. I'm a carpenter, things get in it, nothing will stop that. But now...Charger pad! Stoked! Also the 50mp camera for my eBay listings will come in handy!!
This phone has a desktop mode that huge for me.
is it like an extended keyboard/feature set for a pc or more ideal for a tablet? desktop mode? like for editing content? im not sure the exacts of what you mean by "Desktop mode" more or less the use you get out of it...though I AM interested for how this can be Conducive to my work situation potentially.
@@anhiirr It's like Samsung Dex
thinking of getting it for $250 brand new on best buy right now
I have 1 I bought a month ago and its really a good phone. You can turn off almost everything that gets in the way. The entertainment features are very high on my list of what top tier phones have. Im really seriously hoping that I can keep this for the next few yrs.
Good review and very accurate but you missed one important thing....there is no headphones jack to plug into on this phone. Glad I already have Bluetooth but still... Motorola cmon now got to have this on all phones smh. No charger no headphones jack and no biometric thumb screen unlock. Good gaming phone though!
How’s the battery life? And for gaming? Is it good?
None of those cons were really actually cons imo. The phone is 350 right now at best buy and the 6a is 299. The 6a just lacks a bunch of stuff that this phone actually has for 50 bucks more. I may still just wait for the s23 series. Been meaning to leave my OnePlus 7 Pro behind for a while now.
6a is has a garbage battery and only 90hz screen
I have a Galaxy Flip Z 3 and the Moto Edge 2022 and i like the edge more. Great phone.
I have flip 3 now on installment but I miss my Moto features & was thinking of putting flip in a drawer and selling when installment ends & picking up an Edge 2022 or 2023.
So much for that update policy....mines never updated past Android 12
Someone accidentally sold me this phone instead of a different phone for around $139 off ebay and I'm still using it
You mentioned nothing about the camera
Got my mom this phone today on me credit and she absolutely loves it
It's $ 249.00 Now at Best Buy !!!! 10/16/2023
Just bought one for 349$ CAD from Motorola. The price point it should have started at.
So I've been watching your vids about metro and was wondering what would be a good phone if I do end up switching?
Unfortunately, I have had to replace mine 3 times under warranty. I want to like it, but it has several annoying quirks.
I've stuck with Motorola phones for 9 years because how handy Moto actions are. I love the twist to camera and chop-chop for flashlight.
I just got a pixel 7 pro and it's a buggy disaster. I'm returning it and getting this Motorola Edge (2022).
nice
Same here. Love the Moto gestures.
I'm really considering this phone when I found out it is $349. I almost got the 2021 version at $299 but no wireless charging, no OLED screen, no dual speakers and no OIS on main camera. Ultra-wide is 13MP vs only 8 on the 2021 version. That is a lot more for just an extra $50. As of now, it is still hard to judge how well the cameras are received on the 2022 version.
The moto actions are life. I use the flashlight and camera actions basically daily. I blow peoples minds when i chop my phone and my flashlight turns on!
Same here. The choplight is a must for picking up dog poop at night. 😂
JJ... I've had many different phones trying to NOT use Samsung ... Like HTC, LG, ONEPLUS. I hated the last 2 and camera on HTC had purple hue on everything. So Samsung has been between every one of these which I got rid of in a year.
Can you tell me how Motorola compares to Samsung flagships pls.
Thanks so much!!
This is $200 right now at Boost.Seems like a no brainer!
Don't know about you, I know the phone is 2 years old, JUST got my 512GB Cosmos Blue Motorola Edge+ 5G UW off Amazon for $270, delivered fast in proper, Motorola box, AC (wall) adapter/plug and charge were BOTH in the box, didn't even know 1 or both are a turbo, 30 watt I believe?
The REAL ? on my mind is why this thing won't accept my 3.5mm earbuds?! I have the USB-C to 3.5mm adaptor which is fine, but once I plug in the 3.5mm it tells me they're incompatible??
Its on sale right now from 899$ to 350$ CAD should I get it?
Yes
I have this phone and one of the biggest drawbacks I have is the camera. Even using Gcam, the lack of a telescoping lens makes me regret buying it.
I just got a new one for $240. Oh but actually it's 128 gig not the 256 one. And I have to say the selfie camera is blurrier than the selfie camera on my old Motorola One 5g Ace 2021, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me considering that this is supposed to be 32 megapixels and that one was 16 megapixels. I guess there's some AI stuff going on and maybe the colors look better but it's a lot blurrier than a camera thats supposed to be half the resolution.
5g ace was a great phone my screen cracked but it blew a lot of newer phones away
@@DNice.. I still have it It works fine just the battery doesn't hold charge as much as it used to
I paid 275
What about speaker performance?
I just got this phone I got it from amazon for 255.59. But it's 128 gb. i love it and it amazon let me do 5 payments.48.00$ no interest. I love amazon!!!! Great screen the phone charging speed is amazing.
This phone is $350 right now, gonna buy it on Amazon later today.
Plastic back is fantastic. I don't need a heavy, slippery, prone to damage glass back to feel good about myself
Pixel phones screen sizes tend to be too small, so I would still go for the Motorola.
Got this for my mother in law for $120 on black Friday. Really good deal for what it is vs buying the budget Motorola phones
Thank you for jour efforts, bro. Appreciate it
Just paid $250 new from Best buy seems like a good deal at that price
Taking the sd slots away is a major no no for so many...gone the way of iphone, gauging people for any storage upgrade!!👎..lets be real...internal storage is eaten away with just the updates!!😡
(half a year review)
This phone is actually really nice! I love almost everything about it, just the fact it's not durable and my unit seems to have an absolutely terrible battery but this phone's great.
Hi , by any chance can we use two sim in this phone physical or e
$349.00 U.S. but $499.99 Canadian as of 12/31/2022. So too much for me here in Canada.
I recently got it off Motorola website for under $400US. At that price it was a no brainer
I feel like I got shafted. I just bought this phone ( ultra version) in 2024. If it only has 4 years of updates, then I only have 1 and half more years of use out of this phone. But my payment plan is for 3 years.
Also who cares what a phone looks like? We all put them in cases anyway. And this phone definitely needs to be in case because the camera is flush with the surface and will get damaged very easily.
Regardless,thanks for posting this video.
I have an upgrade discount between this and iPhone 12 64 GB for $217 thoughts?
Only the motorola edge plus cost alot if you get the regular 2022 version it cost alot less. Also one can purchase the phone even cheaper if it's lightly used I got mine for 140 no damage, and unlocked.
Was looking at Edge 2021 version at $299 then looked up 2022 version and saw it was $499 but looked again and saw that was for the "+" version. To my surprise, regular Edge was $150 cheaper. Only $50 more than Edge 2021 at $350 and you get a lot more for that $50.
I got the m ace preowned but not happy w batter .
Don't think I would go pre-owned again lol
I've had mine about a week and my apps are replicating insane!
What does this mean... The apps are replicating?
@@destinycoach5 every time I opened an app it would create 6 or 7 duplicates of that app.

for 599$ im going wtih the edge+. After looking at i phone 14 pro deep purple, i cant justify the price for my kind of use(mostly music/content consumption/discord) potentially gaming Just bc i want a purple phone or my first i phone. I just want good storage to download tidal songs onto my phone. The dolby atmos doesnt hurt to have either, but its not a selling/buying factor for me. I just needed something relatively DECENT with 512gb tbh. The pixel 7 is 699$ for 256gb....and id rather have double the storage for 100$ less. The water proofing is a slight issue in the scenario you may accidentially drop it for any reason it is nice to have that preventative/measure in place. Hell id pay 50-100$ more if it offered/came with this. But it just means i have to be more responsible as an owner which is fine.
I have no problems with the cons as I will have a good case. I've never dropped my phone in water. And I have plenty of wall chargers already
Looking on the Moto update site, it says security until 2025, not 2026?
Looks like Moto paid attention, as the phone goes for 499 at the website now

If you use a case, then does the "feel" matter?
You can get this phone from boost for $199.00. not sure if you have to be a previous customer or not but the price doesn't change until checkout. If you are not a boost customer than the savings might be worth the switch. Other than my data being slowed down after 32G ive been a happy customer for 3-4 years now. They use the same towers as everyone else. 67 a month with insurance.
I got it on ebay for $164 refurbish
It's funny they released this and then 2months later the Edge Plus 2022 512gb is on sale for $499
As of today, 11.17.22, this phone is $659.99 through Verizon.
That's correct on the Motorola website it's 368 I just ordered mine today and that's with no trade in so if you buy it go through Motorola website first Verizon is a money gimmick
I've had a Motorola one 5g, a Motorola one ace, this beater each of those... I bought that Ace brand new and within a month of battery went out but I did not have a protection plan so I'm out of 150 bucks I bought it brand new at Walmart it was trash anyway.
Verizon just sent me a message for an upgrade for this phone.... 659.99 😬🤣
tmobile currently has this for free if you trade in ANY device on a new line. "Trade in any device in any condition, including broken." im debating whether to trade in my qualcomm qcp 820 or my htc shadow. detinitely not my motorola startrac, thats a ballers antique.
Who cares about if it's metal, glass or any other material. Most people use a case. Having a charger with a cable I couldn't care less, I have so many quick chargers from past phones.
The price of it now is cut in half to about $250 for unlocked. Great phone for that price.
How is the camera?

I got this phone and immediately the battery does quickly, it's fast charging is a scam.
Unfortunately I may have got a defective model
Chargers are a problem when importing/exporting now. It's not just Motorola, many electronics companies are doing this now. The good news is your data cable plugged into any charger is a charging cable. This thing is over $1000.00 Canadian in canada right now. WTF? Also, the 2021 versions have all had screen issues that motorola hasn't been able to solve yet as far as I know. Is the 2022 version the same? With the same burnout and colour bleeding issues?
Doesn't it only get 128 GB of storage?

"It is a cheaper build"... as I stare at my Edge in perfect working condition next to my absolutely shattered and useless S22 ultra that took a disasterous fall from a towering 9 inches above the earth's surface... Those words don't compute.
When you tell people the lack of a charger is an issue... and then also note that the competitors ALSO... don't include chargers anymore.. I'm curious how this is a con?
