@tackler96 ruclips.net/video/oIatTHQV2EM/видео.html This footage he played at the start of the game as a cdm/cb, he does a fair few of defensive plays.
I remember reading up on an apparent tactic some the teams he played for used to use: start Charles in the attacking line-up, wait to score, then shift him back to join the defence- at that point the defence became almost unbearable. Was often Charles scoring or contributing towards the goals himself as well. 😂👌
He was indeed. My Italian uncle used to rave about him, especially his partnership at Juventus with the cheeky Argentinian, Sivori. He's still held in high regard by an older generation of Italian football fans. And a gentleman too.
The man was a GIANT. They should have a statue of John Charles outside every football ground in the country and on it, it would say “this man played the game the way it should be played and he carried himself as a gentleman both on the pitch and off it”.

Ciao barbosa.! Che ne pensi di fare un video riguardo stanley Matthews(il mago del dribbling) ? Il primo pallone d'oro... Ci sono molte fonti a riguardo.. Potresti dedicarli un video? Grazie Barbosa alla prossima.!
@elliot j Hi Elliot. My uncle saw Charles play live for Juve, and used to tell me all about how great he was. Thanks to youtube I’ve scoured every possible piece of footage of him, he was indeed a mighty player. Being voted best ever foreigner is a tremendous honour and speaks volumes of his talent. Especially considering how long ago he played. However, polls of this nature always generate discussion and debate. I happen to disagree with the majority of those polled. In five years at Juve Platini won - 3 Ballons Dor, was 3 times Caopcannoniere (from midfield), 2 Scudetti, Copa Italia, Champions Cup (the holy grail for Juve), Cup-Winners cup, Super Cup, Intercontinental cup. A sublime creator and a scorer of incredible goals, he was quite simply a footballing genius. In his prime at Juve he outshone Maradona. In my humble opinion he is the greatest player, foreign or otherwise, to wear the sacred black and white stripes. No disrespect to Il Buon Gigante.
Probably the most underrated legend of all time. Could play CB just as well as ST.

Shame there's no goals from his time at Leeds although we get a glimpse of him playing in the old pre-Revie gold shirt with blue sleeves.
In the next video Angelillo or Boniperti please🙏

Estou farto de pedir o Chalana 👏

Everyone forgets about Gunnar Nordahl, the Swedish goal machine for Milan.
Big Jack Charlton said Charles was a one man half a team. World class at half back and centre forward. I Don't know another such footballer
