Am I nuts, where do we see what is in each day?
The 1st day is a small batch out of Wyoming coming in at 44%abv, so it's not too hot if you are used to drinking higher proof whiskeys.
On the nose, I'm getting a spicy, sweet oakyness with hints of caramel and raisen. On my tongue, I'm getting cinnamon up front that lingers with a soft finish. I'm also getting some of the caramel on the finish that lingers.
Overall pretty good from my perspective. Cheers,enjoy, merry Christmas and happy holidays (or whatever your preferred holiday saying is)!

Day 1 Green
The WY Whiskey Small batch is a great starter, light, mildly sweet with a spice finish. 7/10.

Just surprised with the search for the secret spirits box in the mail. Wish I wasn’t so congested to start it! The Wyoming is good - bit of a spice kick in there. Fairly smooth- very nice!

I'm primarily a scotch drinker and got the Amber box as a gift. The Sagamore is very nice...great sipper and so much rye on the nose. Looking forward to #2!

3:12 I’m not very good at distinguishing the aromatic & tasting notes, but did get the raisiny aroma & spicy taste, mouth-feel of the Wyoming Whiskey. I know what I like, though, & this whiskey was quite tasty. A good start for this advent calendar which was my Christmas present from my wife!
This Sagamore is so unbelievably smooth and tasty. I gave it a 7/10

This is my first time with a whiskey advent calendar and I'm relatively new to the vast variety of whiskey/whisky spirits. I'm sipping on the Wyoming small batch whiskey and it wasn't my favorite neat but I am liking it better with a chilled whiskey stone. The nose was a little harsh for my senses.Chilled, it seems less "medicinal". I apologize for my novice attempt at describing the notes and flavors I'm experiencing. Hopefully, I'll begin to taste more as we progress through the calendar
As a whisky person may I recommend adding a *small* splash of water. This is what professionals do, it cuts down slightly on the alcohol bite and opens up the flavors. Whisky stones are great but you’re not getting any of that dilution, it’s good to add a little water to bring out the non-alcohol flavors.

I like to taste without knowing what it is beforehand. When I tasted this I immediately thought it was a scotch, but with a hint of rye. Very smooth, sweet with a rye finish. Vanilla and jasmine.

Day 1’s whiskey from the black box was a hometown here for me living in the heart of Baltimore. Gotta love the caramel and spice for the rye, it never lets me down. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings 🎉

Sagamore spirit is the only whiskey of the entire calendar that I am already familiar with. It’s one of my favorites, spicy but balanced. Rich and interesting. It’s everything I like in a rye though I’m not particularly familiar with other ryes.

Wow, glad to start my journey with such a great spirit, probably my favorite rye to date. Smooth, slightly spicy with floral tones. Love the vanilla/caramel up front and it had a peppery finish. I really liked it! I can’t wait for tomorrow!

Finally succeeded in getting the calendar! Previous years waited too late and was sold out. Glad they seem to have more available this year! Looking forward to the tasting!!

Sagamore Rye:
(1) The initial rush of aromas contains much more. If you use only half the sample, then seal it up. Try it again in a few days. The (limited amount of) air introduced in the sample tube will bring out other things. Also a drop (a DROP) of water will help.
(2) Feels like it would be very compatible with dark chocolate.

Just started with the black box, and the Sagamore Spirit. Nice smell, and the hint of apricot at the end is nice. I usually am more of a bourbon fan, but this isn’t bad.
On a side note, when I heard the Green box starts with a Wyoming Whiskey, I about died. I’m born and bred Wyoming and a cowboy through and through. Hope there is a taste of Wyoming in the Black Box later on!!

I've been drinking whiskey for years, but haven't ventured away from my standard go-to's. I'm very excited to explore! The first rye is quite good neat, with the vanilla really standing out to me. Onward!!

Halfway through drinking day one from the search for the secret spirits box, I ate a dried apricot. When I took another sip of this whiskey…WOW. Whole Nother level of deliciousness.

My husband got me the lost art of distillation. I enjoyed the first day. I tasted the orange but not sure I tasted the other. I did think it a bit spicy, and enjoyed that. Excited to try all the others!

Enjoy Sagamore Spirit. A nice round flavor. Very vanilla and mild. A little light on the tongue and good finish.

Was out of town, so playing catch up! The Sagamore was very nice with the vanilla, caramel and spice. I also tried it with a splash of water to see how it would change... brought the tobacco aggressively forward and the bitterness from the orange peel. This is one to sip straight.

Im confused about the two different boxes, was there an option for these when i ordered? What is the difference between the two boxes?
Hi Steve, thank you for reaching out. The concept of the boxes and product in general is the same - Lui will explain that in the video once we go live. The difference is in the juice lineup - both amazing but slightly different.
There probably wasn’t an option for you to choose between the boxes, because “Search for the Secret Spirits” box was offered when we sold out “The Amber Kingdom” box. We wanted to give more people opportunity to enjoy the Advent Calendar after selling out the first box.

I've never tried a Rye whiskey, but I do enjoy this one. Drinking out of my 'sample' glass from the Oban, Scotland distillery I visited.
Very nice flavor profile - a good one for me, anyway.

My wife surprised me with this box as an early Christmas gift and I'm stoked.
I had the sagamore spirit today. Right off the bad, I could smell the sweetness before tasting it. In the first sip, it was a little punchy but the sweetness followed with a citrus aftertaste. On the second and third the caramel came in.
Normally a bourbon drinker. Wouldnt buy a bottle but happy to have tried it. 6/10

I definately enjoyed day 1 of the Rye Whiskey. In past years I thought I did not like Rye whiskey, but then I was given one as a gift and fell in love with its flavor. This Rye has an excellent flavor with a slight taste of fruitiness and just the right amount of spice. It has a great finish. I did enjoy the presentation, however I also thought it was too short and not as informative as last years.

First time with the advent calendar (black) as well here and really loving it! Got a couple of them for a friend of mine and I to go through together. Day 1, very much enjoyed the Sagamore Spirit. Didn't get the nutmeg nose or flavors. I picked up on some banana on the nose along with a strong rye, and definite strong rye on the taste. I'm a fan of the Rye whiskey, it's definitely strange to challenge my Scotch favoritism. This was a great bottle to sort things out with.
Tasting with friends and family brings the whole experience to another level! We're glad that you like it! 🥃
Once I reversed the direction of the styrofoam container so that I wasn't finding bottle 24 in box 1, I was off to the races. I'm normally a Bourbon lover, but really enjoyed this rye. Love the vanilla flavor especially. This is going to be fun!

I agree with those who said that last year's presentation was better. The two guys who did the videos were very knowledgeable and a joy to watch. I really learned from them. This video is very basic, and just summarizes what's already in the booklet.
Agree, last year's presenters were more informative, but my wife and I miss Brad Japhe from 2021. He was informative and hilarious! Bring back Japhe!

What is the difference between both boxes?
My take was
1st sip: fruity...definite Rye aftertaste..followed by vanilla on the breath
2nd sip: tobacco and caramel..maybe a hint of apricot...no after taste...rose /jasmine on the breath.
Very smooth overall.

new to the calendar. Had my niece buy her father the calendar so we can drink and compare. Interesting we both pulled from the '1' slot - I got bottle number one and he pulled bottle number 24 --- his number 1 was behind door 24. HIs door 2 had bottle 23 so guess his is exactly opposite mine.
But I did enjoy the bottle and am looking forward to the rest of the calendar.

N: Orange, vanilla
P: Candied orange moving to tobacco. Lingering tobacco
F: Tobacco w hints of leather. Quick finish for these flavors.
Enjoy the fruitiness and spice, but tobacco was too intense. Would enjoy a longer finish

Where do I get the journal? I don't see it with my box.
Your journal should be in the same compartment as the glass in the middle of the box. Sometimes with shipping the booklet can slip to the bottom of the box.

I can't find the booklet in my black box. is it supposed to be in the same compartment as the glasses?
So sorry to hear that. Yes, the booklet should be in the same compartment, but sometimes the booklet slips to the bottom of the box.
Can you try removing the foam on the top of the box and then you should be able to reach the booklet.
Once you’ll find it put the foam back in place and you’re good to go 🥃

I'm confused because my bottle says it's distilled in San Antonio TX but when I look up Sagamore Spirits it says it's distilled in Baltimore MD. Did we have the wrong bottle???
You should be alright, could you please let us know what your booklet says you’re drinking?
Bottle says bottled in TX but not that Rye is from TX.

I thought the Advent Calendar presentation was too short in presentation.Last years Flaviar presentation was more informative.

My calendar is neither of these and the drinks don’t match the days. Anyone else experiencing this???
Why Flaviar? Why do you do this? I’ve been a member for over 3 years, & I find out on day 1 that there are 2 different boxes? I love Sagamore, but the Wyoming small batch sounds really good too. Wish I’d been offered the opportunity to choose, because now I guess I’ll never know…
I don’t understand why we can’t figure this out. Last year it was the app that crashed halfway through the year & we lost all our notes if we weren’t keeping track in the booklet as well (& your response was basically ‘sorry, we were doing an update’). We had to resort to a 3rd party RUclips channel to even figure out which spirit was which. & I’m still not sure if I have an accurate idea, because some people received different spirits than others.
This year I have to watch half of a (very low quality) video about a spirit that I don’t get to try, that I was never even offered the opportunity to try, every day?
Why wouldn’t you let your early access members choose between 2 boxes? I cannot fathom this terrible decision.

I don’t know if these have all been recorded already, but I might suggest breaking them into separate videos. That way you don’t end up with people watching videos about whiskey they don’t get to taste. A simple ‘Flaviar sold out of this product so quickly that they decided to make a second offering. So if you have the green box, be sure to follow the link here,’ would go a long way in explaining this, I think.

Where is the tasting glass and spirits diary
I’m wondering the same thing
Hi both. We apologise for the inconvenience, we’re seeing that sometimes the tasting booklet slips between the outer layer of the package and the foam to the bottom of the box. Due to shipping and handling this happens every now and then.
Could you please open up your box on the top and carefully remove your foam, reach for the booklet and then insert the foam back inside. After that you’re good to go.

Sorry for misunderstanding. What you have is the limited edition box meant only for European market called Elixirs of life. Unfortunately this year this box doesn’t feature the tasting videos, we apologise for that. We’re working hard to bring them next year with all the calendars
