Like the lack of technical guitar riffs that made Architects stand out and their unique lyricism on albums like LF//LT and Daybreaker. Idk, the repetition of the lyrics in this song in particular gives it that radio poppy kind of sound which gives a generic feeling. It's not a bad song, it just doesn't blow me away like the cleans and softer songs on Hollow Crown and Daybreaker did.

K-Killswitch Engage: New Awakening: I drove through a town full of rich folks with my car windows rolled down and this song blasting on my CD player. The best part was when I freaked out these two chics in the vehicle next to me because they heard what music was coming from my vehicle, and here I was completely calm, wearing my sunglasses, and nodding my head to the music instead of headbanging which would be the expected reaction to the sound billowing from my car.
That attacking those negative thoughts is a great habit to get into. I've always done it sort of subconsciously/habitually so a lot of the time when I'm feeling really down, it doesn't happen because I'm not aware that I'm doing it on the regular. You're right they're 100% trying different stuff. I kinda love that of the 3 songs of new material we have so far, none of the 3 really sound much alike at all. Pretty incredible. A lot of clean vocals and electronic elements. There are still some bangers such as Discourse is Dead, An Ordinary Extinction and Impermanence but even within those songs, there are some surprises.
Alex, as a fellow Texan you should try Upon A Burning Body, they are a band from Texas. They have a song called Texas Bloody Money. It's metal about Texas pride.
My strategy with negative thoughts is Recognize, Rebuke, Replace. Recognize the negative thought. Rebuke it by telling it that it’s wrong. Then Replace it with several good/positive thoughts.
