Thanks this makes sense, all other videos just show you to test at the cord but that doesn't tell you if its just the cord or the element. Thanks really good video!

I agree eliminates the cord from the equation.....the element is bad

Your continuity reading was not zero it was infinite / OL because you had an open

My cord shows power. But, I think my element is loose or NFG. It $63.00 here in Alberta. I'll rejigger it to make sure element not loose, but I'll have to replace whole thing. Note* I eyeballed mixture -47°! Maybe that is issue. Coolant 1 year old, but putting in 50/50 premix, -35° see what happens. Thanks.

This element is about 1kw of power (at 110 volts)?

I recently bought Sienna with 2GR-FE engine, and there is some cord going inside the hood. Not visible from any underneeth or from above. So most likely it's some kind of "block heater". I'm afraid to turn it on, because previous owner said he never used it for 10 years or something. Can I test it like that or it can be different kind of heaters? If it's corroded, can it burn the fu@ng car?

if i had a cheap meter would not first switching to voltage mode on it, before doing the test where plugged in to the mains, end up wrecking the meter for future resistance tests, if not wrecking it completely even?

I went to go and unplug my extension cord from my Diesel last Saturday, and the cord was melted where the heater cord was plugged into. What is going on before I try to do Your test ? Bad extension cord or bad heater cord? Heater cord is not even a year old from Ford. Should the cord coming from heating element plugging into extension with 3 prongs get really soft since getting warm? Or should it stay hard like normal ?

@@supertreme5559 sounds like I need a new block heater cord? Sometimes soft and Sometimes not. Depends on how long plugged in and how cold it is outside. Thanks

@@Richard5873 i have mine in for 6hours now and its cold. But thats 240V. Not 120V. But i dont know how much ampere/watts yours is rated🤷‍♂️ mine is only 300w. Wich is nothing basically

@@supertreme5559 Mine is stock Ford, and it is a 50 foot at 10 gage wire . Rated voltage 125,max amperage 15,max watts 1875. Not sure if shorter cord would be better, I know I'm looking at around $100 for new heater plug wire IF my issue. It heats up by looking at my tuner gage. Thanks
