  • ✝️ “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18, New King James Version
The weather forecast for the Hart's Pass and Slate Peak area was for clear skies and sunshine. But instead we had snow, wind, and clouds. We enjoyed the hike immensely in spite of the less-than-ideal weather. Glad we brought our winter-wear!
We hiked 4 miles to Windy Pass and then continued another 1 mile to the next ridge for additional views. We then returned to Windy Pass and ate lunch at a yurt in the meadows near an old cabin. The Barron Yurt (hut) was constructed by the North Cascade Heli Company (helicopter skiing in winter) and the old cabin was built and used by the Gourlie family in the 1930's. It's interesting to read about the cabin's history (link below).
