Hi guys, there's some updates to the S-MM2H eligibility criteria: Over 50s can provide proof of savings if they do not meet the income requirement. Also the 30-49 age group has been lumped together into one category.

So if you are aged 30 to 49 yeaes old you have to do 1 of the following: Purchase a house worth at least 600K MYR, having children under the age of 21 enrolled in a school in Sarawak, or undergoing long term medical care in Sarawak. For me that means MM2H is cheaper than S-MM2H, thats a pity about having to purchase property! Great detailed and concise info thanks for sharing

A hypothetical question: let's say you did the 5 years + 5 years extension for MM2H silver or S-MM2H, what happens after the 10 years are up? Would you only be able to return to Malaysia on a tourist visa? Or could you go do a 6-12 month stay in another country (Philippines, Thailand, etc.) as a "reset" then return to Malaysia and apply for MM2H or S-MM2H again? I know the gold and platinum MM2H plans offer longer periods (with a much more substantial bank deposit). I suppose you could do 10 years with S-MM2H and then 10 years under MM2H providing the revised requirements for the latter are within your reach.

I am noting your remark about participants in the Sarawak MM2H being allowed to live in West Malaysia so long as the 30 day Sarawak residence is fulfilled. Have attempted to confirm this online from every Malaysian outfit which is posting information online. None of them will answer this question.

The only thing that trips us up with Malaysia is the income 😞...We could put money into a bank but as I understand, you need to prove income AND deposit money into a Malaysian bank, not one or the other like someone else told us.

    • @offshoreinasia

Technically you can under the current rules. However this wouldn't be practical for the under 50s category, as your property/medical/school would have to be located in Sarawak.
