The funny thing about this scene is, here in germany "muscle" is called "Muskel" but is often nicknamed "mucki" / "muckis". So I have a feeling oda was borrowing some words here. He often mix in differen languages. Even in german the term "muckis" is usually used in a funny / not so serious context. Usually when complimenting someone or when someone is showing off. Though it would be interesting to know what Oda actually thought of or where he got it from. Muscle in japanese doesn't seem to sound anything like that. At least all variants that google translate can come up with.

I loved this cartoon animation in this episode, it was something new that matched luffy. At the same time i hope they go back to the one before so we can literally see what’s going on.
It's mindblowing that back in Skypiea during Noland flashback, Calgara's village was said to worship the Sun God! And when Straw Hats were dancing with the wolves, silhouette of Luffy looked exactly like that of Sun God Nika. Oda said few years ago that Luffy dancing with wolves in Skypiea was his favourite scene in OP & it hinted at Nika. CRAZY foreshadowing! This makes Skypiea even better retrospectively! Sun God was also mentioned during Big Mom's flashback in Elbaf! Peak!

My only minor issue with the Nika reveal is that I think Oda should've hinted the name a bit earlier. Yeah Joyboy was the last person who awakened the Nika fruit….it’s why Zuneisha thought he heard Joyboy when Luffy woke up because the fruit changes the users heartbeat and everything once it’s awakened.

Luffy’s devil fruit is the Human Human Fruit Model: Nika. A Mythical Zoan. Basically the fruit’s ability is limited only to the user’s imagination. The power to turn imagination into reality thus Luffy turning the entire fight around him into a average episode of Tom & Jerry.
No other author could pull this off except Oda. Luffy's imagination has always been his greatest weapon in the way he's manipulated what he thought was only rubber powers, like that time in Cocoyasi's village where he created an attack from his fascination in Genzo's pinwheel. Rubber is only one of his devil fruit's properties, and yet he's gotten this far, I love Luffy!
Theres this theory that because he believes his fruit is a paramecia to him an awakening means being able to fully control rubber and apply it to his surroundings cuz the other paramecia that was awakened that luffy knows is katakuri which does exactly that. And so since his imagination turns into reality this is why he uses the ground as rubber. He can do way more technically if he wanted but his limit right now is the fact that he believes to be an awakened paramecia like katakuri

We're still in the process of getting more info about the fruit's full ability besides being rubber. And we know there is more to the fruit since the World Government was hell bent on erasing it from history.

The Gorosei quite literally say that the user of the Hito hito no mi model nika can fight in whatever way they fancy. If Luffy was smart enough to know this then he'd be able to do WAY crazier things than what he's shown, but we know what the Gorosei is true because Luffy literally turns his hair into a pair of goggles/glasses ins his rematch against Lucci.

Your commentary at the end hits the nail on the head. It was actually Oda that commented how he came up with Gear 5 being cartoony because he wanted to tone down the seriousness that was starting. Especially because after the Wano arc he plans to make things even darker, but Luffy (and all of the Straw Hats) will obviously bring the fun and laughter in :D
I think it's just an alias/epithet that was given to the last person who awakened the nika fruit because of the effect they had on other people. Zunesha saying joyboy is back is basically because he's associated the drums of liberation with the person they referred to as joyboy, so hearing that again it was as if joyboy is back
That would imply that there has been more joyboys before the joyboy that lived 800 years ago and we don't know that. The theory that joyboy is actually a title is not been confirmed and its not a solid one. Luffy probably inherited joyboy's will and the hito hito no mi model nika [being a zoan] avoided having been found for 800 years until the right moment came to find a new fiting user. Anything else is speculation, time will tell.

In the manga Luffy just sort of gets muscles in the middle of spinning Kaido around, I think. Personally I prefer Luffy & Hancock. I wouldn't mind if Nami ended up with him though. Regardless of who he ends up with I hope Nami and Sanji never become a thing. I'd rather her end up with some rando than Sanji.

That was so funny and epic! This was the episode that I laughed so much that my lungs are getting hurt! I was so surprised when I heard the true name of the gomu gomu fruit and I become the Enel's face, but the fight was so funny that the attacks were inspired by the classic cartoons like Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry. Kaido's shocked face was the scene that I laughed so much. Also Hiyori was incredible. She was right about it. Even she was hungry and living in the poverty from twenty years, she proudly keep her surname Kouzuki and Orochi was truly a insolent and pathetic scum who doesn't deserved to be entitled as Shogun. Like in the previous episode, Nami has made Luffy to awaken his devil fruit and make the drums of liberation. Thanks to her, Luffy is alive!
And hearing that line, "make people smile," or in the manga it was, "bringing smiles to faces far and wide." When you back through the story, you realize he had been doing this the whole time. Not just when he saved the day, but little things, like his interactions with the women on Amazon Lily. How by the beginning they were closed off, hated men, and wanted nothing but to see him dead, turning into them all loving him and not wanting him to leave. Even bringing a smile to Boa's face, who hadn't genuinely been that happy in god knows how long

Oda's original dream when writing OP was to make people smile. He had Gear 5 planned for a long time. And now everyone can't help but smile and laugh along with Luffy. Your commentary at the end hits the nail on the head. It was actually Oda that commented how he came up with Gear 5 being cartoony because he wanted to tone down the seriousness that was starting. Especially because after the Wano arc he plans to make things even darker, but Luffy (and all of the Straw Hats) will obviously bring the fun and laughter in :D

To clear it up, joyboy is someone who awakens the fruit “Human human model nika” and has the ideals of joyboy. That’s why luffy is now the new joyboy
I think it's just an alias/epithet that was given to the last person who awakened the nika fruit because of the effect they had on other people. Zunesha saying joyboy is back is basically because he's associated the drums of liberation with the person they referred to as joyboy, so hearing that again it was as if joyboy is back

That would imply that there has been more joyboys before the joyboy that lived 800 years ago and we don't know that. The theory that joyboy is actually a title is not been confirmed and its not a solid one. Luffy probably inherited joyboy's will and the hito hito no mi model nika [being a zoan] avoided having been found for 800 years until the right moment came to find a new fiting user. Anything else is speculation, time will tell.

Fun fact, the anime added that part. In the manga Luffy just sort of gets muscles in the middle of spinning Kaido around, I think. The anime added the bit where he tightens his belt to "puff up" his upper body, which is such a cartoony touch that I LOVE it!

When the blast is hitting wall before bouncing it back, it shows like it went through the wall. Not to mention u can't even tell there was a wall until end.

Treating her like a goddess and being willing to let her step all over you is another. Nami needs someone who will call her out on her BS and treat her like an equal, which Sanji won't do because he's her doormat. As for Luffy and Nami, I specifically said I'd rather see him and Boa. What I was saying is that if Luffy and Nami got together I'd at least be fine with it compared to Sanji and Nami. Not that I like the idea. And there isn't any romance between Sanji and Nami either. She has no romantic interest in him. She just occasionally uses him for the doormat that he is.

I was so surprised when I heard the true name of the gomu gomu fruit and I become the Enel's face, but the fight was so funny that the attacks were inspired by the classic cartoons like Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry. Kaido's shocked face was the scene that I laughed so much.
Also Hiyori was incredible. She was right about it. Even she was hungry and living in the poverty from twenty years, she proudly keep her surname Kouzuki and Orochi was truly a insolent and pathetic scum who doesn't deserved to be entitled as Shogun.
Like in the previous episode, Nami has made Luffy to awaken his devil fruit and make the drums of liberation. Thanks to her, Luffy is alive!
And hearing that line, "make people smile," or in the manga it was, "bringing smiles to faces far and wide." When you back through the story, you realize he had been doing this the whole time. Not just when he saved the day, but little things, like his interactions with the women on Amazon Lily. How by the beginning they were closed off, hated men, and wanted nothing but to see him dead, turning into them all loving him and not wanting him to leave. Even bringing a smile to Boa's face, who hadn't genuinely been that happy in god knows how long

Oda's original dream when writing OP was to make people smile. He had Gear 5 planned for a long time. And now everyone can't help but smile and laugh along with Luffy. His VA, Mayumi Tanaka, did an amazing job in this episode, giving Luffy such a contagious laughter.
