Once you get used to a back-up camera, it’s hard to NOT have one! I primarily depend on mine to avoid children or animals that may run behind me, especially in parking lots or wherever there is a lot of activity going on. Such peace of mind! Great install and you are quite the problem-solver!👍🏼😊 Have a blessed weekend🙏
I love the way you give every detail of a project; you're a great teacher! I also appreciate that even with your skill and experience, things *still* take longer than you thought. LOL! Another benefit of that camera is personal safety; you can look out back when you're sleeping in the van.
First time I have had a back up camera in any car! I have a new 2022 Escape. I love it. I drove a 2007 before this. At 78, I don’t like backing up. I try to always park where I can pull out!! ❤
Lol. I hear that rogue rooster!!! Lol. I LOVE the sound of a crowing rooster. I wish he was living at my house. Thank you for another video Bill. Tell sweet Elizabeth I said hello and Lord willing, I will see her Sunday for Tea with Jesus. May God continue to bless you and your wonderful family.
Towing a trailer narrower than the back of the truck would give me the heebie jeebies. A camera seems like a terrific option. I enjoy watching your process because of the thoroughness with which you cover any how-to.
Always very good content. I especially love how genuine you and Elizabeth are, just real down to earth people like the rest of us. I recently went back eight years to watch a lot of your Tiny House Prepper episodes too! And how awesome those are!
Thanks for sharing. Now you got me interested again in a backup camera for our Class C motorhome. We did purchase some ebikes after watching your previous video.
Don't give up, may be a way to do so, with prayer and pondering, between the windshield mirror mount, bet there is a way to cobble something together, may need to stop at a salvage yard, and pick up a mirror you can mount the camera
For the hole in the floor get a piece of rubber hose like a fuel line and put in hole and then run wire through center of hose then calk or use weather strip glue by 3M to seal the hole and around the wire and outside of the hose to sealo from water
One thing I really appreciate about the backup camera on my 2017 Toyota van is that it can pick up movement of out of sight vehicles and sound an alarm.
To protect your camera from branches make a U shaped bracket over the camera and make wide enough to cover the whole camera including the antennae and make from metal about like the monitor bracket that came with the monitor and you can screw it directly into the box of the truck to hold in place but will not create a wind thing as you just make a U bracket, so wind passes through That camera is a great idea and will benefit the safety in the use of that type of truck.
I know that the back up camera is standard now days, which is super nice. I drive a 2003 Silverado, I've never been great at judging distance when backing up. You guys are blessed! That's awesome! ❤
Good job on that! It really does help out to be able to see behind when backing up etc.. I wonder how we used to drive and have few accidents or none without the cameras.........perhaps life has gotten too fast paced now a days.......LOL I am older than you and Elizabeth by about 10 years and we sure have seen a lot of changes in our lives haven't we! I do enjoy the improvements however they do come at a price! LOL As does everything. Excited for you to have that for your use. Travel safe and be blessed!
The lights on the truck are called pop-ins. The grommet, is in fact rubber, yours is just dried out and hard. When you replace the light, you are going to need to know what type of light connector it has. They are not all the same. You will need a new grommet and the new light. First, install the grommet, then connect the light and push it in.
Old.ha ha..old is when u are still riding a normal bike at 101 which I've seen here in Prague..Elizabeth you really picked a winning hubby..congrats..happy safe travels..paul
Ohhh that was a daunting! My husband already watched on his tablet and I had to ask him how it went, cause I couldn't stand the suspense! Glad you got it done 😊
How about adding back up alerts. I have a cargo van and before there was cameras I had the dealer install backup alarms. Two round sensors the bumper. It sounds a beep and closer you get the faster the beep and once you are right on top of something inches from your bumper it’s a solid alarm sound. So if an object or a person was out of your vision you would have the alert. It was easy install by dealer.
Kool, nice job Bill, way to problem solve. Maybe you guys can take Renegade Rooster back to Virginia with you and get some chickens too😅❤🎉😊 Good point Elizabeth about wanting to see close to the bumper esp if someone is standing back there.🙏💟✝️🌅
My backup camera only comes on when my car is in reverse. Does this camera allow you surveillance when moving forward? I agree you need to see your trailer at all times.
It depends on where you wire the power. I wired it to the license plate light, so it only comes on when I turn on the lights. I could have wired it to the back up lights. Then it would only come on when I was in reverse. The way I wired it, it’s on driving forward as long as my lights are on. I usually drive on the highway with my lights on anyway.
After seeing a tragic story of a young child running up to Grandpa’s car, we got a backup camera set low. You said you have the option of adding a second camera. With 2 you could see close and distant. Something to consider.
Visibility is important especially with something so large and bulky like a box truck. It's just good sense in my book, whether towing something behind or not. If you hook it up as security for you while inside of the camper part, that makes helpful security too. Wired makes more sense as wireless can just go out, like a digital signal on a tv. I hate digital, give me analog.
I installed one 1️⃣ f those guys n my camper trailer. Took out the middle road Ning light and wired it to that. The camera worked well(I’ve sold the camper) but it did seem to cut out when I was around areas with a large amount of trucks. But otherwise it worked how I wanted was a comfort to be able to see behind the trailer
Suggestion: I had a similar set up on my travel trailer. Buy an extra camera now and keep it among your spare parts. I would be surprised if that camera lasts even five years.
12:10 You lost me at Scotch locks. Those are the electrical gift from hell. When you have electrical issues, always look at the Scotch locks first. I never use them, I throw them out every chance I get! I hope you have good luck with them. Because luck is your only hope! 😁 Otherwise, nice install. Ride safe! See ya on the road!
Hey Bill ya know it’s to bad you can’t take out the center marker light and mount the camera there just a suggestion love you guys Blessings to you ❤️👍✌️☮️
Check out Tiny House Giant Journey, he turned a box truck into a camper also. Keeping an eye on the trailer is a good idea. Thanks for sharing. God bless and protect.
My son's new car has a backup camera. We live in northern Minnesota. That thing CONSTANTLY gets mud, sluth and snow on it, making it useless. I'd prefer to have it higher but it's a little car. The camera is near the license plate so you can imagine how much it needs to be cleaned. Nope. I prefer your camera position.
You could put front camera in grill if monater has recording its real handy now a days for proof insurance or liers. You can put on switch. Thats what i did
The camera Looks nice. Is that a 17 ft box truck? I have been looking on the u haul used truck site. The other day I saw a neat looking class b van, I looked it up and it was $250,000 dollars !! Gee just a tad over my budget.
This is a 14 foot box truck that we bought from U-Haul in Orlando for $8700 with 120 K miles on it. This truck just barely squeezes into a standard parking space. A 17 foot truck would not.
My car has a backup camera in it, but I never use it except for really close back into like my garage. It also don't come on except when in reverse. No help when driving forward or even stopped.
I wired mine into the license plate light, so it will come on every time I turn on the lights. If I had wired it into the backup lights, it would only come on when I put it in reverse.
@@LiveSimpleLiveFree When you replace an old rear view mirror with a new one the kit comes with some glue. If you decide to mount it on the windshield, maybe try to find some of that glue.
AMAZING, before the economic crash, you had much that was owned by the banks, that you paid to use, now GOD hath granted you to accumulated needs, beneficials and even pleasures that are now yours
Actually, no. It's wired in to the driving lights, and so it will only work when the driving lights are on. I would have to crawl into the cab and turn on the camera and the lights to see out back. Turning on the lights would alert anyone outside that I am watching them. (Which might be a good thing. But it would also let them know that someone is in there.)
@@LiveSimpleLiveFree well I should have said that you could have installed it on the headliner but it’s more appropriate to say that wherever you guys feel comfortable with where the back up camera is installed.
I was thinking about the rooster making himself at home on your back porch when you leave. Would it be possible to screen in your back porch to keep him away from the back entrance?
Is there any project you can't do? This was very interesting to watch and will give you peace of mind! BTW there are lots of Nuoenx backup camera installation videos by owners. Does the solar model not require wiring? Here's one: ruclips.net/video/5DOnX6CaRLI/видео.html

Hey Bill, try pressing the buttons on the monitor. They may change the aspect ratio of the camera. Also, the +/- should allow you to zoom in and out!
I can change to a split screen for two cameras. But it does not change the aspect, ratio or zoom

But I talked about that on the video, that I couldn’t figure out how to take that center light out.

this is awesome. Could you explain or make a video on how you tied it into the backlight?
I just spliced it into the power wire going into the backup light.

That's so C.O.T.I.! Your expert experience, had to laugh involuntarily. You from Indiana or the 'State of Misery"? That's rhetorical,

*slush
Camera mounted low, down by my license plate, would not allow me to see how the motorcycle is riding in the trailer
Also, I think of vandals or knocking the camera around if you lowered it. IDK. I could be wrong.
You could put front camera in grill if monater has recording its real handy now a days for proof insurance or liers. You can put on switch. Thats what i did
Agreed. But this is a backup camera, not a dashcam. It does not record.

@@LiveSimpleLiveFree Thanks for letting me know. I like the idea of fitting in a reg parking spot.
Some cam instructions are in small print, on the box it came in. I am sure you checked really close.
No, there was NOTHING in the way of instructions!
@@LiveSimpleLiveFree You did a great job, installing it.
Maybe you could get some kind of epoxy to mount the screen to the dash.
Can you splice the wires to an alternate power source, like a jackery and be able to use the camera as a monitor while you camp for the night?
That could be done, yes. But I would have to power the screen as well.
My car has a backup camera in it, but I never use it except for really close back into like my garage. It also don't come on except when in reverse. No help when driving forward or even stopped.

Put a reverse beeper
I could, but they annoy me.
Could you consider placing the camera on the bumper near the license plate?
That would be too low. I wouldn’t be able to see the motorcycle or behind the trailer.
Hey Bill, how about installing an LED light bar across the back roof edge to go with the camera?
Why?
Can you mount that viewer on the windshield, right where a rear view mirror would be? It’s an automatic spot to look when you’re backing up.
Sure, with the suction cup I can manage it wherever I want
@@LiveSimpleLiveFree When you replace an old rear view mirror with a new one the kit comes with some glue.
If you decide to mount it on the windshield, maybe try to find some of that glue.
VIEW SCREEN TO WINDOW: Whatever they use to attach rear view mirrors to windshields, would such be feasible
For the mirror, they use glue to attach a metal foot to the glass. This has a soft rubber suction cup. I doubt that it would stick to the glue.
AMAZING, before the economic crash, you had much that was owned by the banks, that you paid to use, now GOD hath granted you to accumulated needs, beneficials and even pleasures that are now yours
Can you use the camera as security? Can you put the antenna under the cable?
In order to turn on the camera, we have to have all the lights on. So that doesn’t work well for security. Also, it does not record anything.
That camera will help you see if there is anyone hiding in the back of your truck, while you are staying inside.
Site says operating instructions (including installation?) available through contacting their customer service. Maybe they send a pdf by request.
I never found a way to request anything. If they have them available, they don’t make it easy!
What about the headliner? Roof of where you are sitting while driving.
What about it? That’s not affected by this back up camera
@@LiveSimpleLiveFree well I should have said that you could have installed it on the headliner but it’s more appropriate to say that wherever you guys feel comfortable with where the back up camera is installed.
