there is a hospital that way you just missed it 5:25 the mother Theresa hospital is back on ur right-side is a huge hospital the main one in Tirana also right in front of mother theresa hospital is the American private hospital so yes you were right there is a hospital
Summer is hot in most cities, either go out early until noon then after 4-5 pm. It does help to rent a car. The other option is to go to the beach! Eat out in restaurants, it’s cheap! Enjoy your stay!
Rick, I am glad to see that you are still walking. My doctor in Spain started me walking 10k steps daily. Walking and boosting the vegetables in my diet with salad has made a noticeable difference in my life.
I actually quite agree with you. There are so many other places in Albania I want to visit and learn about. (I wonder if I can ship my bus over here? LOL!)
We very much want (and do) that. We found several local spots that we now frequent and purchase from. Although to be honest, there seem to be more local options in Tirana than elsewhere. We like that!
@@rickhiggins everycity has local markets and shops but you just have to know for example we as a family only buy in supermarkets the main things but as for food like olive oil, honey, eggs, fruits we buy straight from farmers there are farmer markets especially in Elbasan all products are bio and the olive oil in Albania is the best good for ur heart, skin, liver everything also the honey. Every morning when i wake up we as albanian take a spoon of olive oil and honey
Great storyteller Rick. I really miss Tirana and i enjoyed your walking tour, even though it is the city where i was born and raised. By the way , the Pyramid is a youth center, where the kids learn technology and design. That's why it's empty now, because of the summer vacations, not because no one wants to put his business in there 😅.
I did not know that, but I am happy it's being put to good use. Everything I had read said it was up in the air. There were a couple of occupied rooms in there and I do seem to remember they were focused on that.
Do you ever come upon one of those small monuments / statutes, and then you feel weird because you have no clue about the person represented? It may as well say, "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Constantly! And then I make up a grand story about they're good/evil history, then read the small placard that simply says they were once the town's street sweeper. LOL!
if you want cheap food shop at the farmers market in tirana btw is more expensive but other cities are cheaper Elbasan, Pogradec i think will be perfect for you a lake city food cheap and bio tirana is little more expensive is the capital other cities are like 50% cheaper.

Lived in Tirana a year and it’s completely safe and the people are helpful and welcoming.
Welcome to Albania ❤
I'm truly enjoying it. We're in Berat right now and I don't want to leave!

You're very much describing the lifestyle we're trying now!
Welcome to Albania. Its a bit hot since july but you are lucky. July has been horribly hot
It has been toasty. LOL! But this summer seems to be hot everywhere. We just can't escape it.
Once you put your feet in the Albania you are already at home. 👍
I actually quite agree with you. There are so many other places in Albania I want to visit and learn about. (I wonder if I can ship my bus over here? LOL!)
I don’t think Mexico has anything to worry about 31:20 😂 . I like your style sir . Welcome to Albania
i was in Albania for 8 day,s boy oh boy i have the best time ever, and they Love American,s and the Food is like the best i ever try
Its probably the transportation costs from all the travel thats draining your account. If you dpent more time in each location it wouldnt be so bad.
Very true, which is why we're going to start staying in places longer. (The US stock market didn't help that month either, sadly)
go to pogradec ! cost of living 1/3 of tirana. and beautiful lake
You shoud buy to locals(50% cheaper, this is how we survive,,)
Exactly, supermarket is the same everywhere
The tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, garlic and bananas we get from the little stands along the way. They are way cheaper and fresher.

That's awesome. we were hoping it was being used purposely
