    I follow so many gem/crystal/gold/rock prospectors on RUclips and this is beautifully produced. I would say this is TV/Netflix quality, but I think RUclips deserves this content. Even though I'm not a prospector or even a collector, you've managed to capture the excitement of finding these treasures and make it entertaining for the viewer. :) thanks

    Don't forget geologic forces are uplifting the entire Rocky Mountain range all the time. As the Pacific Plate slides under the North American Plate, the resulting uplift raises the Rockies. The amount of uplift is tiny, when measured on a yearly basis but, when you're talking about geologic time periods [millions or even tens of millions of years], the result is mountains the size of Antero. You can tell the Rockies have been uplifted recently by how vertical they are. Old mountains with gentler slopes have have had time to erode down.

    LOVE your story of mining being in both sides of your family! I have never explored mining of gem stones and founding your videos so fascinating! Because my birthstone is Aquamarine (and I have been attracted to this stone but find it too pricey for the super high quality ones like you guys mine. However, having coming across HOW you guys mine them really opened up mind big time! In my younger days, I skiied, hiked, camped, climbed the Rockies, so no stranger to high elevations conditions combined short window of time you are faced with! So now I understand why the high quality ones are so pricey :))) … someday I WILL buy one from you guys! And love most the uncut raw clearest ones best! There is a Tahitian Pearl jeweler in Hale’iwa, Oahu who rarely drills into these gorgeous pearls. Instead, he sets them via tension. I have a beautiful Keshe pearl tension set via a flat gold spiral embracing it. So was thinking … because Aquamarine’s hardness is so high, it could also be tension set!

      @PeachSt8Digger 5 лет назад +1

      @@lazerman121 Yes....Craig & Tracie were on the show "Prospectors", which was hosted on the Weather Channel on TV. The weather channel didn't just do weather, they did Prospectors, Alaskan Railroad, American Supernatural....etc
      Prospectors included miners like Craig and Tracie and Amanda Adkins, Steve Brancato, Joe Dorris, Krystle Dorris, Brian & Yolanda Busse and family. Extreme conditions and gorgeous gems....under the gun of the weather and the treacherous geography of Antero and the likes.
      Aquamarine, amazonite, smokey quartz, fluorite, calcite, topaz....etc. Was a fabulous show. I miss it!

    My god you guys are brave, that Mt. Antero is a slippy crumbly beautiful place only crazy brave people should go.

  • @benjithethird

    Hiked up Antero today for the first time. It was devistating to see all of the scars that the mining and fourwheeling has left upon this mountain. High alpine environments like this need to be protected and respected. Making quick, short-term cash off of pretty gems is not worth the future of our natural resources and watersheds.

    Just said "howdy" to you in the Indian Food restaurant in the Springs. Good Luck this next season. My family owned the Coronado Motel in BV from 1971-1982. My Dad worked at Climax for 35 years, so I especially appreciate your family mining heritage/story. Dont' drive anymore cars off the mountain...and good luck again!
