General Motors was notorious for rigging test results (and sadly, it looks like they still are) but I grew up in a GM family driving all of sorts of full size Buicks, Olds and Chevy's and remember getting beat drag racing (for shame on me!) by plenty of Dodge Polara's and Ford Galaxie's!

Amazing how the Chevrolet beats all the competition hands down. It is more powerful, quiet, fuel efficient, well made, and just flat out better. Why, you would almost think that G M Chevrolet division put together this comparison. Golly.
My dad used to work for GM, and we had a '66 Impala wagon with a 396 in it. It was loaded with extras (cruise control, electric windows, climate control heating and cooling), and one tough car. He custom ordered a '70 Kingswood (fancy name for Impala) wagon, but it didn't have quite all the extras as the '66 did. It was nice and all, but I liked the '66 a lot more. Only thing I didn't like about the '66 was the color. I don't know why he ordered it in white.
My friend's parent's also had a 1966 Chevy wagon and he talks of it often. They traded it for a 1969 Kingswood wagon and fortunately he still has it today. His folks long gone but that Kingswood is sharp especially with the 1962 one owner Nimrod pop up camper. I sure miss the station wagon cars.
The dealerships kept new models hidden until the big night I believe in October of open house. My old man would take me with him to see all the new models on display. Hell, it was almost like an annual event.
In the fuel economy run, just as the Plymouth is running out of gas, if you look in the review mirror you can see the image in the mirror change, showing that the film has been edited at that point, so it's obviously not one shot, wonder why they made the edit, was it perhaps that the Plymouth was doing a little too well in the test maybe?
The reason there were fewer Chevrolets in the junk yards is not because they last longer but because fewer Chevrolets were sold.
