  • Welcome back to my channel, and welcome back to my latest vlog series! In this series, we’re exploring one of the biggest and newest ships from Costa Cruises: Costa Smeralda.
In my last episode, I showed you what Savona, Italy looked like to visit by cruise ship. Today, it's time for another port - Marseille, France! I have actually visited Marseille before, but I've never done what we're doing today - I'm really excited to leave the ship and explore!
Marseille often gets a bit of a tough reputation from cruisers, and I've been told by SO MANY that it's the ideal port to spend a day onboard your cruise ship, in order to enjoy the onboard facilities. In this video, let me take you ashore and you can make your own mind up - would you stay on the ship in Marseille, or would you get off and explore?
In this series, Smeralda will be visiting various ports in Spain, France and Italy - let's go and explore some more of Europe together!
If you’d like to see more from my other Costa Cruises, head over to my channel and check out my Costa Cruises playlist, or click here: • Costa Cruises - in here, you'll find content from my time onboard Costa Toscana and Costa Diadema - two very different ships from Costa!
If you enjoy this video today, please head over to my other social channels - remember to say hello!

Hey Fraser- actually I just came across your video by chance, because I was watching videos on MSC cruises.... But when I heard your accent ( absolutely love it!!! - watched the Outlander series only in the original tone because of that), I just had to watch the whole thing. Very well done! There are so many terrible casts online, with nerving music, stupid comments etc... So I am glad I watched and of course I gave it a definite thumbs up and I even subscribed your channel ;-) .
Although I dont have too much time, I will follow you on your journeys now. Regards from Germany, Bettina

Hi Bettina, what a lovely comment - welcome to my little corner of RUclips - I’m glad you’ve found me! Yes, I get mixed reviews on my accent here on RUclips, so I’m always happy to hear there’s a fan out there, ha.
      Welcome onboard!!

I always get off ship in a port I've never been to before. That was an amazing climb! I couldn't do it...😂 What a view! Thanks for bringing us along.

I would definitely need to take the train!!! lol But I'd sure try making my why through parts of Marseille for sure, if for no other reason than to say I did it! I know what you mean about not seeing a place anywhere to grab a drink of anything...even a bottle of water. Always enjoy sail away!! Just great stuff!! Bruce and Otis

I loved the cathedral on the mountain. I certainly will go there. And rest of the time just wonder around a bit. Enjoying some spa-time in the afternoon. (with discount on a portday, told you...I'm Dutch haha)

When I was there in May this ,my friends and I decided on a taxi back to the ship Arvia as it was pretty warm the day we were there .. how many steps did you do that day Fraser 😅

Yeah, I can totally understand the taxi back - the heat there can be really quite intense being honest! I dread to think the final number - I’m not sure I can count that high. It’s fair to say that’s how I kept the weight off on my European cruises, haha!
