Ruan Mei's DMG% boost may not increase Firefly's damage, but her break efficiency certainly does. Factoring in Firefly's own 50% boost, RM's boost is a 33% net increase by itself, and this doesn't factor in the benefits of chewing through boss bars faster which may or may not save a turn. RM's ultimate Res PEN is another multiplicative 25% increase, for a net total of 66% overall damage. You could argue that most other DPS units don't take full advantage of RM's break efficiency because they don't invest in break effect. Even RM's speed boost is both a quantitative and qualitative improvement for firefly because you don't need to fish for speed substats on your relics unless you need to zero cycle.
Could they make a dedicated support for Firefly that's better than RM without powercreeping her? Yeah, they could. But at that point it's likely to be a small improvement (a net 100% increase instead of RM's 66%, which you could get right now by just getting RM's E1) - or you just drop your sustain and run both. I think what's likely to 'complete' the break team is a 5 star Gallagher. We already have Fu Xuan for the hypercarries, HH for DoT, and Aventurine for FUA teams.
I have seen "dreams" about a 5 star Break-focused healer in v2.5, but I think they will need to be quite overloaded to compete with what Gallagher can currently provide for Firefly
I've seen those rumors too. I think what we're likely to get, if it is a break support abundance, is better break damage buffs in exchange for being a more traditional healing kit - something more like HH, with a buffing rather than offensive ultimate. Probably some sort of teamwide heal on break, with a buff that provides break efficiency.
Basically, we don't get Gallagher's style on contribution in the form of his own toughness damage or super break, but the break efficiency is more universal for other elements and future break DPS, and may even outperform Gallagher's contribution.

I don't like huohuo kits and tbh lingsha is my only hope for abundance now.

Dmg% doesn’t boost super break dmg but Mei’s weakness effeciency boosts the super break dmg which. Is essentially the same thing. Her bloom on ult delaying break recovery then allows more super break to be dealt and then the res pen increases the dmg as well. So nothing in Mei’s kit is being wasted really because the weakness efficiency doubles as the dmg%
Why ppl never complained if other DPS can pair up with the best 5s Harmony Unit that bring out their best potential, but when it comes to Firefly suddenly ppl complaining about her with RM as disadvantages.. HMC are already free right? so just putt one more 5s Harmony supp RM for her to unlock her full potential considering we can use Gallager as sustainer that's also available on her own banner.. Otherwise just use Asta with her still good..
It’s cause a ton of folks purposely skipped Mei for Sparkle or Robin, back on her initial release, and have been complaining about any team that “needs” Mei. TLDR; if they can’t easily replace Mei’s purpose on a team with some AA Harmony unit, they will doom it.

@@JohnDoe-si4egI mean, Boothil, Luka, and Xeuyi are break units yet you can build them for different things with various options. You can or don’t have to use hmc with them, can use Tingyun, Robin, or dot along with Mei. But Firefly really is just hmc and Mei to my knowledge. If you don’t have Mei then Firefly is not doing damage for half or more of her attacks after they recover.
Personally I like the idea of various teams for fun purposes. I also like Xeuyi who is also a break unit, so at times Firefly can’t get both Mei and HMC. She needs to choose while my Xeuyi can make use of Tingyun or other element characters.
22:17 I definitely want a follow up on that "firefly does jingliu damage with RM, blade damage without RM" thing, cause I get that her damage is cracked with RM, but how bad is it without?
I'm thinking it's more like "firefly does acheron (or better) damage with RM, jingliu damage without RM" based on what I'm seeing so far

like its probably still better than most other chars just because of the 3-4 attacks per ulti ... but probably not by much
@@shirio45 Unless he's E6, he probably wouldn't though, and if they're both at E6, I'm sure FF would smoke him then too. They both pretty much use the same team, but Boothill doesn't do AoE, and he's basically the only phys break on his team to boot, meaning it's going slower. Anything like Bronya you'd decide to slot in instead could be used for FF as well, and would be used to greater effect on top of that considering she just gets more turns in her ult then.
@@Gration_ boothill is still by far the best bosskiller, and that even without the new relic set which makes him do so much damage it's not even funny. I mean it's different when you do 700k on a single target or 700k on 3 targets. With the current format in moc he one shots almost everything when he breaks

Also, Genshin should take notes! Making the MC not only viable but the best option for a team comp makes those of us who roleplay as MC during story content quite happy!

If you get 2 Crit stats on the Break effect set....Xueyi would definitely love it
The only IDEAL break support that would be better than RM for FF would be a non-universal break-oriented support with res pen, break efficiency in place of dmg% buffs, gives speed and break effect to the team and has a very strong ST 100% action advance on ult to help getting the most from each FF ult state. It will be a while until such character is released.
HMC is Superbreak enabler so i am not counting them, they are beyond support.
I like that as i go commenting and watching the video, Iyo already commented everything i said. We are on the same page, unfortunately not all CCs are as thoughtful about the advice they put out as Iyo, they just copy what someone else said and keep regurgitating stuff.
To the person asking why signature light cones, let me present my favourite: Fu Xuan's cone 👍🏻 The full team 80% heal at the start of each round feels amazing! Works for SU and PF especially, but also recent MoC and any random event where your teams are battling waves of mobs. I love this light cone and will never regret pulling it. If I ever stop using Fu (god forbid), I can what it on any other preservation and enjoy the healing benefits.

Hi Iyo, I have the complete IPC emergency team, and I have Acheron, black swan, pela, and universal market mc. Do you think firefly would be good for PF because I struggle clearing it. Or should I pull Jade?

You should not be struggling with Pure Fiction using either of those teams. 😭
FF might help you, but I’m not sure just yet since PF deals with killing enemies asap. FF still has to fulfill the break condition at all times.

@@groovy8368yeah. They’re at there closest in the 0-cycle. Once you leave that range FF becomes stronger due to higher consistency. It’s why FF calcs higher.

VODs are typically on Twitch, but this last one was messed up! That was my fault. I changed some stuff in OBS and the vod track was messed up. Future streams shouldn't be like that at all.

If you're relatively new, this is basically the pull value on 2.3 phase 1:
E0 RM > E0 FF
Then, after that:
E1/E2 FF > E1 RM > S1 RM > S1 FF
This is considering you've got both, but want to keep pulling. E1 RM gives a strong DEF ignore, but E1/E2 FF is absolutely monsterous compared to other dps, even E2 Acheron. The LCs are strong but can be compensated for.
for whats faster then 0 cycle: the new mode that got teased will track speed value. so beeing faster ina 0 cycle will lead too a higher score

About the weakness implant, does it remove the mobs' resitance to that element? (Not asking about breaking toughness, just the damage resistance)
it doesn't remove the resistance, so it'll still be less damage than being naturally on element

If you put Fire Weakness on a "Fire/Burn Immune" Enemy...It only "slightly" helps them in doing Break DMG.
But you might as well use an Ice DPS, rather than Bruteforcing it.

My opinion on Pulling for FF or RM:
When i'm making this assessment, i am assuming that the rumors that down the line the devs will increase enemy off-element resistance are true and i'm preparing for that. This means that fighting on-element will become more important than ever.
That said, FF DOES have additional value being the only limited 5* DPS we have (i am ignoring Himeko and i won't put Topaz as a main dps).
So i'll present three cases for newer accounts and i'm assuming acheron haver:
No Robin
RM>FF>FFE1. E1 gives you a lot of teambuilding flexibility. FF premium team can be very sp positive with gallagher being practically +2 and RM being +2, it all depends on if you will use HMC skill every single turn. The same can't be said for other teams except FF + Sparkle but this one is a bit weird.
With Robin/E1/Lots of limited supports.
There are a lot of wasted stats with robin but she does give supplemental damage and superbreak teams do act a lot and are easier to optimize for SPD due to the nature of superbreak. With E1, Robin also gets the second most valuable thing RM can give to FF teams, universal penetration.
So,
Robin E0:
FF>RM>FF/RM E1 (again, going for flexibility)
Robin E1
FF>FFE1>RM (You want to free that robin for other teams, but if you have the worst luck, you can still improv with her or asta).
Many DPS (Literally skipped every support for the DPS of each banner)
If you have a lot of DPS, FF will be your "Fire DPS". But RM can benefit more teams and you will get way more flexibility with an E0 RM than you would get with an E1 FF. Plus, i am assuming you are broke on resources from building too many DPS,
So
RM>RME1/S1>RMS1/E1> FF. You REALLY can wait for a rerun unless you really love Superbreak, in that case, replace the first RME1 with FFE0.
Also, FFE2 is BUSTED, if my reading is correct, it can basically double the number of e.skills she does from 4 to 8 in a single ult cycle. I am thinking Skill>Break>AA>turn>skill>kill>AA>turn> cycle, it seems she can't act again into act again like seele does, but if the act again does count as a turn, then it goes from 4 to 8. If it doesn't, then it goes from 4 to 6 which is still pretty strong.
Also, fellas, remember: Jiaoqiu exists and he will be the 5* Pela.
Hope i get lucky and get her after pulling ruan mei

Do make sure to get Eidolons over her signature... her signature lc is only 10-12 better than the herta store weapon... but her Eidolons easily give her 20 percent or higher dps increase... if you really want to increase your firefly and if that matters to you more than go for her Eidolons first after that get the lc..

I'm pulling for Firefly because funnily enough, I have Ruan Mei and Gallagher built up, just unlocked HMC, so I might as well do it, being a Firefly fan is the cherry on top.

Since after this the build up for Jade should be starting soon, I have a question for her.
Jade's skill interaction with Blade, does it count as a separate damage instance per attack in relation to his talent? i.e. Blade uses his Enhanced Attack with Jade's Acquisition Surety Buff/Debuff does he get 2 Stacks instead of 1?
I wonder if Jade can make Jing Liu/Blade dual-dps comp pump out his follow up even faster.
Also feel much better about having to pass on Ruan Mei S1 after this video, since I lost the 50/50 on Fu Xuan S1 so have to rebuild tickets again. I'll probably be paying for my pull decisions as the year goes on anyways. Passed Adventurine, passing Boothill and Firefly, probably passing on Jiaoqiu. Hopefully 2.5/2.6 brings some BS level Abundance character I can grab, or finally a new 4* Preservation. Destruction/Nihility/Harmony have been getting slammed with chars past year.

Went for jingliu(guaranteed) then got her at 76 pity.
Went for her lc, got at 67 . (50/50)
Went for aventurine but time got over.
Been saving Till now to get ruan mei & probably FF & 1 Memories of the past LC.
Have no limited 5 star preservation or abundance.
My team does high dmg but fail to sustain and dies in 2 cycles.
I wanted Firefly but it's Sam (yes I know they're the same person but i wanted her to actually be on the field and have her own mechanics). The initially release of her kit before they buffed her turned me off of pulling on her, going all in on Jade.
i mean technically its not locked behind his superbreak? Cuz doesnt she have a weaker superbreak? You would just be insane for not using harmony superbreak since everyone has him xD

18:02 I think what they mean is RMs Damage% doesn’t do anything *However* weakness Break efficiency dose.
Not only does it help with breaking but as well directly buffs SB Damage by increasing the *Toughness Break* damage because that is the main factor when determining SB damage of course then add in Lvl and Def down Etc to get the final numbers.
As for 21:15 the RM signature Lc actually works best on HMC because they Ult faster so you get that one SP more often and you could then run the slow Mai build for exp.

Is fireflys lightcone better for xuyei than firefly?
No because xueyi is more focused on talent dmg unless you’re hyperbatting but then you can just run indelible
Player that need to learn Signature 3 type effect is only work great for it's intended 5 star user . But some is still usable on other characters . Like Topaz lightcone for Dr Ratio & Ruan Mei LC for Harmony Trailblazer .
@@Cuddle_with_Furina Harmony MC can make better use of Ruan Mei's own LC, believe it or not. They can spam more ults for more SP and it won't be at the cost of getting more ults like in Ruan Mei's case, because you can't get a 3 turn ult with S1 RM like you can with S5 memories.

I’m just curious how long is break gonna be viable and is it future proof.
The toughness bar and anything related to it is a core combat mechanic, so break teams won't go away unless the devs start spamming us with bosses that are immune to toughness damage or something.

I think both are great options for both. I've seen discussions about giving RM LC to HMC instead but like MotP at s5 is just as good with better energy gain.

He's saying that FF team building options are very restricted, more than others.
And to be fair, if you don't have Ty, bronya, sparkle, pela and rm then yes, skipping JL would be ways smarter for your account. It literally doesn't change my point. If you don't have 80% of the unit to make the dps work, you should just logically skip the dps.

I already have Boothill e6s5 so I'm going to skip Firefly. I will probably go for Jade coming up after because I need more Pure Fiction Erudition character help. I don't have Argenti, though I do have Himeko (I need to get her better Relics), but I have yet to ever 4 star the 4th PF stage (I'm always missing just that last little star)! I can always max out MOC, but I still struggle on PF. Also thinking of going Jade over Argenti cause I have Clara e2s1 that I can use for physical if I really need to and stick her on a FUA team.
To be clear i'm not one of those people complaining but the argument of getting the premium damage without premium stuff is probably a little more nuanced than that. The playerbase most likely wants to get results achievable for f2p ( with smart use of ressources)/dolphins, that are 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 to the premium options, IMO if you lose more than 20% dps from the first to second best in slot light cone it's an automatic skip for me because it's shameless purchase-enticing greed. It's a little more complicated when it comes to character but it still applies, Miyoho knows their numbers and the other options avaiable for this character, it's on purpose if you feel pressured to pull on weapons or other characters only relevant on a niche, because you are.
The character should be complete without any more constellations or premium light cones or another very specific character, and not have a 50% damage difference it's just crazy to argue against that

Firefly being a break meta unit makes it so that any enemy at present or in future that can halt toughness reduction their counter. Meaning Firefly like many other dps is not futureproof. So if someone is trying to get her for fomo sorry but she is an ez skip..... For somebody else my jades about to be 0 by the end of Firefly banner we pull till e2 s1 😤. (Fyi i paused the video after clicking on it reading the thumbnail).
If they will add more bosses that lock weaknesses, they will also most likely add gameplay elements that will help unlock them.
Yanqing, for instance, has this mechanic, but in order to unlock it, you can break the swords beside him which Firefly can easily do because of her weakness implant + colourless breaking.
Even the SAM boss unlocks her toughness bar after a short period.
Or they can just add 5* break support who can give the team ability to break locked enemies. Problem solved, forever, bruh.

This whole pure break playstyle really irks me. I do not like being "gated" by a bar to do more than effectively zero damage.
Imagine a really bad matchup vs a crit dps, well maybe now you're not doing 3 cycles, but 6 cycles - chance for your other team to get you out of the pit.
Now imagine a break resistant enemy. Firefly is gonna sit there and wait doing absolutely nothing.
Am I going to wait for 2 cycles, 5 cycles, 20 cycles, is this every going to happen at all? Idk, but I certainly don't like the "open door" to completly disabling the entire character.
Tbf, Acheron is almost in the same boat, if enemies are very or completely debuff resistant. But I guess she can at least get her own stacks so maybe Sparkle and/or Bronya to get her faster stacks could still make her clear a slow and painful fight.
A counter at that level to Firefly she'd be hitting the maximum cycle count lol.
I'm almost certainly doing at most maybe 20 pulls cause I skipped Gallagher. Hopefully Yunli isn't superbreak too, then I'm grabbing myself the next giant ass sword character instead.
Plus Jiaoqiu for Acheron *if* he is really insane for her - don't like his design so otherwise I might skip him too.
Most bosses who do lock their toughness bars have a few gameplay elements that help unlock them. For instance, with Yanqing, you can break his swords to unlock his bar. With Bronya, you can quickly kill the other elite she's boosting.
SAM is really the only boss who starts off with a locked bar and doesn't have a gameplay element that unlocks it, but she spends such little time in the locked form that it doesn't hinder the gameplay too much.
Elites like the Aurumaton and the Penacony gorilla do lock their weaknesses with no way to unlock either, but it's usually later in the fight and you'd most likely break them with Firefly/Boothill before they get to that point.
