Scarlet’s Walk is my favorite album, has been for 20 years, but for some reason this song has recently taken a hold of me. I’m bewitched by it. I love it so much
nov 2002 in NYC. she opened with this song, an extended long 2-minute chord progression, ephemeral, beautiful, haunting. almost everyone had tears in their eyes. i'll never forget
@@kyeishahodge3125 every time I listen to this masterpiece I'm taken back to my first time visiting NYC in September 2000. When I did a little online search about the meaning of 'ICSNY', I was shocked to read that the song was first penned by Tori in 2000 and early 2001! Many months before 911.
Tori consistently renders live versions of her songs that completely elevate the the album versions. This version seems like an absolute rebirth of the original.
Soul stunning. Voices reaching from beyond both sides of the portal between life and death, ethereal emotions of loss and love through parting breaths.
I discovered Tori about a year ago, although I knew her from the 90s, but only from a few popular songs, but now I discovered her, for a whole year I listened to everything that I could find until I came across this song, is explodes my brain. Tori is delightful as a singer, as a pianist and as a composer. I haven't heard anything like it before.
The sound on this is so clear and beautiful. I love how you can listen to an album version over and over and love it every time but then hear live versions that give whole new levels and meanings to the same song.
Beautiful song. I was a big fan of Tori’s in the 90’s and listen to her early work all of the time. This is the first time I have listened to any of her later work. This is a beautiful song. I have been playing over and over all morning
Merci beaucoup, Tori Amos . J'écoute I Can See New-York. La première fois j'avais 24 ans et maintenant j'en n'est 38 ans .. très belle musique et chanson magnifique même si je ne comprends pas tout les mots en anglais. Sorry
I am so.blessed to be able to say I attended this concert. 911 still fresh in many lives. People around me cried om each other, sang along, held up candles. One of the most moving experiences Ive ever experienced
I have a tattoo on my arm that says "in the end all we have soul blueprint". That line imprinted on my soul and like ink to my paper flesh, I honored that condensed poetic summation of a life lived.
Omg! I have no tattoos but I was just thinking that’s what I would get. It’s so true and I don’t even have the words. And here I thought I’d be the only one with that line…
" un ange" , celui ci , pas sortit d'un bouquin a la con, cette fois ci.....on est là , sur de l ' altruisme pure, rare....,cette chanson est merveilleuse!!!!
me encanta , la vi en directo y cuando cantó esta canción , quería dividirme en dos personas ,para percatarme de tori y a la vez de su música , y me fue muy difícil
listened to this album many times to unwind in the desert. cranberries music was also nice.. both artists seem to bring me much peace... thanx tori.. mass loves you, gen-x loves you o/
Brings back a few, haunting images to me...such anguish overcomes me when I hear it...have to remember it was time to pull together for strength to somehow bear it.
My new favorite song by her. It sounds like it's about the end of a relationship but as others have mentioned it also sounds like it relates to 9/11. I just find it really haunting.
Totally about a relationship ending for me...my boyfriend left for New York right after he told me we were not going to be couple anymore..even though we talked about flying there together during our relationship. I was always afraid flying....one night in a drunken state before he left, he told me we would always be together, even in death-he would find me. He went to New York without me that very year...he made it back but I never found his heart again. Funny how songs transcend
serpentsally tori is the first musician who performed live in America after 9/11. She did a cover of Tom Waitt’s “it’s time.” It was on a late night talk show.
Thanks for posting. Guess I need to get this video soon. This was an amazing tour, saw it at Gammage Auditorium in Tempe, AZ. This song is like the Holy Grail of Tori (to me). That dreamlike quality, looking out through the plane window, deeper and deeper yet in an emotional holding pattern. Personally it was wrapped in (a recent recovery from) an unrequited dive, so I went on Scarlet's walk. The world was hurting at this time as well, and yes, tears came to my eyes several times during this night. Tori is sublime and spins quite a tale. Love her.
I think I may love this version as much as the one on The Beekeeper; this may well be one of the most underrated of her masterpieces. correction: Scarlet's Walk, not Beekeeper.
+queenmoline who else but Tori could have put that so eloquently? and have it break your heart at the same time... this is one of those songs that, when it comes on, i have to choose whether or not i *can* even listen to it at that moment. there are quite a few like that... i am an RN in NJ and we all had to report back to work mandatory that day. they thought there would be too many wounded/deceased for the NY hospitals to handle. finding out that there was *nothing*.... *no one*... and that we could "go back home" was one of the most gutting moments of my life. how do i go back home now? a couple of the nurses in the ER let out a cry, a scream and we were all holding each other...
I don't think it's about a relationship at all, lol there is no relationship between me and that kind(yeah right) doctor at Sutter cost hospital in crescent city northern CA. oh tell your brother or look alike Steve white I hear him in this hunting ground
definitively music for women("leather" and so on...).but I admit there is good melodies she plays great on piano but I think her voice and the way she sings is too repetitive:there is no vibrato on her voice. she is also limited by singing always in the same register .....and its fulsome and sometimes annoying because it does not soil the song even when she sings in a higher register. You can hear that in the song she plays in the video..after you hear precious things and it's almost the same register...when I make my friend to discover her music that's always the same sentence.they don't like the voice.I think it'a bit shame 'cause there is very good songs ,especially the piano composing is sometimes really bad ass...
Scarlet’s Walk is my favorite album, has been for 20 years, but for some reason this song has recently taken a hold of me. I’m bewitched by it. I love it so much
Same
It is a truly great album followed closely by the next album The Beekeeper
That's what makes it great art, you experience it differently each time
I agree life changing
Indeed ❤💯💖

Whenever I find a Tori Amos song that I haven't heard before I always have to think twice before hitting play because she just rips me up every time.
Same...
And this is about 9/11 so it hits harder.

this has to be most beautiful song i've ever heard in my life. i love tori, but she outdid herself on this, cannot get more perfect
I couldn't agree more with that statement. I had tears in my eyes.
Very True....Its the Most Beautiful Song...Such Meaning!!!!!!!!!! Are you a Newer Tori Fan?
Right☝👏👏
I love singing along with this song, such a beautiful song..

Unbelievable that there have only been 1000 likes. This is a spiritual masterpiece.

the only artist that gives me goosebumps when performing live! amazing soul!
Peeps just need to accept Tori Amos as their personal GODDESS and be a peace with it.
I couldn't agree more! just magnificent woman. MAGNIFICENT! She leaves me speechless breathless, my goddess for over 30 years now.
Of course!
Something about this song feels really relevant for Covid. Still haunting and beautiful and magical.
Incredibly powerful song~* Her spirit revelations/ in-spirations are epic, brillilant, and gorgeous. * (Thank you, Tori Amos!)
Wow love this version I think better than the original studio version.... can't believe how pure her voice is live.... stunning

S. Simons I was at this show too. So emotional.
Can't imagine the healing and pain all once. Jeez
I've been TA concert at Crocus City Hall in Moscow many years ago..... Life can be so cruel
i cant seem to find my way out of this hunting ground..
so many chills
Its the Truth! That Drug will Hunt You.... Until it Kills You!
I see people covered in debris after the towers fall. Chills......hunting ground

One Of My Favorites of Tori..... Absolutely Beautiful 💐🌹💯
Incredible song to be played at full volume!!!

Tori is purely a magnificent poet/singer/composer. One of the finest evokers of emotion.
OMGodess!!!! She is even a billion times better in real life. This is incredible footage of Tori. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love wtsf. Every song is enchantingly beautiful.
She wrote this 2 months before 9/11 but yet the song is the only song that I can think of that describes what happened in New York on that awful day.
really? i always thought it was a reactionary type of song to those attacks on nyc
it is hauntingly perfect. i imagine the jumpers while im listening to this song :( and im fucking crying again :(
This is untrue. Everything on Scarlet's Walk was reactionary to 9/11. She isn't a prophet.
@@alans2418 - Except She did write this song prior to 9/11. It is in interviews. :)
@First Last I hope this helps clears up your confusion. :)
this is everthing all encompassed in her excellence

linda hernandez wow, that's crazy.
Tori Amos is a Goddess ♥️
Talented and sexy af *smh I've been listening to this on repeat, lately.
Man such a powerful song.......
I"m sad..This song reminds me of 9/11 and now the attacks on Paris. Prayers with all those who lose their sacred lives to violence.

Her face at 2:11 melts me
I adore her early year's before she became narcissistic, and out of touch, I will always love and adore her true work, she was in fact a genius.
She is still a genius, and she is not out of touch at all, the world is out of its mind, nit Tori’s fault.
Agreed
