The song was featured in the 1969 Academy Award winning movie "Midnight Cowboy". Nilsson won a Grammy award for his version of the song.
And John Barry got a Grammy for instrumental.
I'm walking here!
john voite and al pachino starring in
Let's dissect a song..interrupt it ten times and analyse the sh*t out of it..just listen to the song and enjoy it
@@paulm8908 Dustin Hoffman not Pacino
If you want a longer version, watch "Midnight Cowboy." It plays frequently throughout the movie. And by the way, it's one of the best movies ever.
Great pick. Underrated artist and songwriter, whose two biggest hits were covers. Harry would love the irony.
Coconut! Coconut!!! So much fun you will love it!!!
"I'm Walkin Here, I'm Walkin Here" - "Ratso"
Love Nilsson 💘 soooo many beautiful songs to explore
Jump into The Fire by Nilsson will blow your mind. Yet another totally different sound for Harry.
Fred Neil wrote and sang this song in 1967. Harry Nelson covered it in 1969. Have a great New Years Eve ! Also a safe 2024 !
Midnight Cowboy is the only X rated movie to win an Oscar for Best Picture.
"Everybody's Talkin'" is my favorite song by Harry Nilsson. It was featured in the 1969 film "Midnight Cowboy". Also like "Me & My Arrow", "The Puppy Song", "The Moonbeam Song", "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City", "Jump Into The Fire", "Spaceman" & his novelty song "Coconut". Harry wrote the song "One" which was a big hit for Three Dog Night in 1969.
"Diamonds in my ears" Really captures it - nice analogy.
Harry... 💕🙏🥥
Such a breathtakingly versatile, wondrous talent that should already have been in the Rock n roll Hall of Fame. (The Beatles would concur, no doubt.)
I always remember that sad bus ride in Midnight Cowboy whenever I hear this.
Harry Nilsson's was one of John Lennon's pals during Lennon's infamous (but prolific) "Lost Weekend". John credited these lyric's as an inspiration for his 1980 song, 'Nobody Told Me'. Terrific reaction Hari, RNB
If you want a third Nilsson song that is three times different, Put The Lime In The Coconut. Then you'll feel better. I also suggest 'The Lord Must Be In New York City' also from the MIDNIGHT COWBOY movie soundtrack like this one.
That’s an excellent song also.
Harry was also John Lennon’s drinking Buddy during his “Lost Weekend”.
Oh man, what an awesome pick!
Fred Neil wrote and performed this song, as well. And what a voice he had! Deep and gravely. His live version is great. Stephen Stills was a big fan of Neil. I love Nilsson's version, of course!
This is one of my favourite songs of all time.
Wonderful song. Thank you so much! I loved this song. Another by him is I Guess the Lord must be in New York City! Equally good. Thanks Again. You are the Bomb!
Great choice Cynthia. Used in the movie Midnight Cowboy directed by John Schlesinger and starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight
Midnight Cowboy theme song. John Voit and Dustin Hoffman costarred in this late 60s classic. Academy award winning movie Really sad ending to this movie.
Kudos to Cynthia for a gorgeous track selection, and to Harri for your priceless reaction!
Fantastic song and voice!
My favorite Nilsson song is The Lottery Song.
❤️Great song. Thank you.
Yup. It must be because of that great name. Harri😊
Theme song from “Midnight Cowboy”.
The 1st time I heard this, I was skipping over ocean heading back to the World from Vietnam
Absolutely love this song. Great choice Cynthia.
He was great !
The theme from "Midnight Cowboy" is an instrumental by John Barry with a haunting harmonica lead. It's a classic and a great listen.
Agreed! Also, Faith No More does a great cover of it on their Angel Dust album.
Keep going harri,its a deep rabbithole.😅
Such a great song by Harry Nillson. Along with the release of Midnight Cowboy it received a great amount of playing on the radio.
Coconut and Many Rivers to Cross are great songs. The latter written by Harry and John Lennon on the famous lost weekend. Great drinking buddies. 🍸
Great reaction Harri. Thanks to Cynthia for a great memory. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
“Jump into the Fire” is very different, but an amazing, emotional song you need to react to! Love Harry Nilsson!
The theme for The Courtship Of Eddie's Father brings fond memories.
🎶People let me tell you about my best friend. . .🎶
Midnight Cowboy is such a great movie. Just watched it again recently. Harry Nilsson was a genius! Great reaction Hari!
Cynthia, this is one of my favorites. You struck gold here with me!!! 👍😀❤️✌️
Thank you.
Nilsson had such a magnificent voice with incredible range. He liked doing what he liked at the time, and his songs are quite varied. Love this, love your reaction.
The greatness ❤ is such a lovely memory. Love me some Harry! 🇨🇦
Thanks Harry, if you ever get a chance to see the movie Midnight Cowboy it’s well worth it! And don’t forget The Point by Nilsson. Wonderful for kids.
Such nice memories come along with this song. Thanks for requesting it Cynthia. Nice reaction from Harri, as usual 🌺✌️
Has Harri done Coconut yet? Harry had such a fun side as well as the serious.
Happy you did this. I love this song SO much. There's a great documentary about Harry Nilsson on RUclips, worth a watch. He also did a WONDERFUL animated film called The Point.
Yes indeed, it has to be the name Harry/Harri 🤗
Harri, you’re killing it, another Nilsson song and a great movie, Midnight Cowboy
I lived in Bronx and nyc I never had a problem in the last 37 years living every were they last one winter ❄️ song good movie good for old New York
You're right. The string arrangement is out of this world, &, of course, the song itself, & Harry's performance superb. It's all about wanting to be somewhere else, travelling to somewhere better, and, as you rightly say, who can't relate to that...
John Lennon's lost weekend..that lasted 3 years when he separated from Yoko , moved to LA shacked up with Yoko' Friend Mai Pang..spent most of his time with Harry.
If those walls could tell stories! Lol . Great song . Thanks Hari!
Harry is absolutely amazing. Some of my favorites are "One", "Gotta Get Up", "I Guess the Lord Must be in NYC", and "Jump Into the Fire."
Great song Cynthia! His music was always special to me. 💫 Thanks a bunch and thanks to Harri the Best as always! 👍✌🎶🎸
This was Harry's biggest selling song and he didn't write it. He actually wrote I Guess The Lord Must Be From New York City for this movie. Harri you need to keep digging into Harry's archives.
Definitely check out his "Jump Into the Fire" and "Coconut."
One of the greatest songs for one of the greatest films .
I've watched the start of Midnight Cowboy many times just for this song.
This song and The Lord Must Be In New York City are fantastic. Love them.
My countryma, the late great Toots Tielemans, played the harmonic theme for this movie., Midnight Cowboy. What a movie !
Harri,
If you ever come to the east coast of the U.S.A. let us know! I’m sure there would be be a fun meet and greet!
Great song. Great movie. Another song from Nilsson Schmilsson that is very different and wonderful is Coconut.
He was such a great artist! Great song! Love your review!
I have read that the film-makers originally asked Bob Dylan to come up with a song for the film and he wrote "Lay, Lady Lay". Accounts differ as to whether he took much time to produce it it whether they just rejected it in favour of this one.
What about listening to Me and My Arrow by Mr. Harry Nilsson? It's beautiful ❤️
Just saw his son doing Harry's songs from The Point - an animated childrens story that has stuck with me my whole life. Still also have the soundtrack album.
I think that "Without you" sounds a lot more like this song than his other "hit" Lime in the Coconut" sounds, and I can't say that isn't my favorite song of his along with Jump into the fire (too). All quite different sounding songs.
You want longer Nilsson? "Jump Into the Fire" is where it's at.
Each song hits different people in different ways - this one has always hit me just right . much respect to you
He truly a unique talent. An infamous drinking buddy of John Lennon in L.A.
Honestly, if you haven't already, check out his "Early In The. Morning". I consider it his best vocal performance but one must listen carefully to catch all of the nuances.
Harri, you might want to invest in a collection Nilsson called Personal Best. It contains songs he chose released and unreleased from his body of work. It is filled with masterpieces.
From the movie, "Midnight Cowboy", as I'm sure you saw, sir. Couple other Nilsson songs you may want to check out, sir, if you haven't already: "Without You", & "Driving Along". Mr. Harry Nilsson put his stamp on every song he recorded. Thanks for reacting to this one, sir!
Sometimes YTers make extended versions. I wish they would with this one. Good, worthy reaction.
All those photos are from "Midnight Cowboy."
Harri he wrote soundtrack to Robin Williams movie Popeye great stuff
A masterpiece.
I have believed for years Harry was not only one of the greatest male vocalists with an incredible range, but his songs were so different one would think they were done by different artists. I'm sad he passed away so young I can only imagine would else he have created.
Yes Harry was considered the 5th Beatle by the band. He and John Lennon had a legendary friendship. Harry had the most gorgeous voice. Whatever you gave him to sing he could sing it. Miss him a lot. If you get a chance, watch the movie Midnight Cowboy where Dustin Hoffman Jon Voigt are at the top of their game. Before Jon Voigt went off the rails to coo-coo land.
Jon Voigt is a Republican, you know.
Yes the name Harry / Harri is very special for sharing the world of music 🎵🥰
Never met a Harry I didn't like!
John Lennon Said Harry Was The best band in the world
That song and movie were some of the best material ever produced. So many memories.
What a coincidence that TCM showed Midnight Cowboy very recently and I watched it in it's entirety with Everybody's Talkin' as the theme song. So poignant and the lyrics tell a tale of endless longing for fulfillment and acceptance when the odds were always working against the movie's main characters. Even so it's a beautiful song.
Harry Nilsson had so many songs beloved by fans, this is one of them🤩 He was buddies with John Lennon ! 😻💎☮️
Glen Campbell had a huge hit with this song.
Extraordinary choice Cynthia. You never cease to amaze me with your picks. It was in the movie "Midnight Cowboy" starring Dustin Hoffman and John Voight. Great reaction Prince Harri. 🤴🇬🇧🙃🇨🇦
Thank you Daniel, you’re very kind. You also pick some wonderful songs. There are so many great songs on this great Harri channel!
@@Cynthia... Yes. GMM will be sorely missed. Hope he comes back sooner rather than later. 🇨🇦👍🙃
Jon Voight (cowboy) is Angelina Jolie's father.
Harry Nilsson was so talented and died far too young. Great reaction ❤ For something different, check out Coconut and Jump Into the Fire.
Maybe they should listen to songs like this when they teach music in today's music academies.
He was friends with Micky Dolenz of the Monkees.
Watch Midnight Cowboy you will hear that song and others kind of funny but very sad at the end you'll love it
BTW..... Bob Dylan - "It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding" will impress you again, I promise.
Love your channel. another Harry song is 'Hurry up Harry' by Sham 69.
It would have been even more magical had his name been spelled with an “i.” 😁
Written by Fred O'Neil. A great songwriter and performer himself. Sorry, Fred Neil.
I love Fred Neil, and I like his version of this as well.
@@Cynthia... Have you "The Dolphins". The version I first heard was by Dion, but Linda Ronstadt had a nice one also. Unfortunately, I think drugs stole a lot of Mr. Neil's career.
@@earlbaker3976 The Dolphins is a fantastic song also. I have his album and I will have to check out the other versions as I am not familiar with them. Yes, you are right about the drugs. Sad but it did happen to a lot of people back in the day.
u put de lime in de coconut and drink it all up
fred neil sang his song in the 60s...
fred moved from NYC to florida to be with the dolphins...
Watch Midnight Cowboy
HIGH Harri.... Great tune from an iconic movie "Midnight Cowboy". You do want to see it. BTW.... I just watched your reaction again (all the time) to my request "Time Has Come Today" - Chambers Brothers. It is the Best Reaction Ever Done by anyone and I've watched countless from all the most popular reactors..... BTW#2. You gained around 30,000 new subscribers in 24 hours after that reaction. Have another Splendid Successful Day.
Two words - Ratso Rizzo
"well if the foods free then I ain't stealin"
This is very similar sounding to Glen Campbell's "Gentle on My Mind."
👍
watch the movie
