Thank you for doing what you do! I have learned about so many new devices and pieces of equipment from you both.

I like this cushion but think it might be too expensive for most people. Also, it might be safer if the w/c arms were reversed so the reaching back to come to standing "nose over toes" and the reverse to sit will be facilitated and made easier.

@judithlevy7099, thank you for your comments. Yes, this is a bit expensive, but may be an option for some if needed. The wheelchair arms are currently set up to clear beneath a table. Yes, these armrests could be reversed depending on individual needs regarding shoulder rom, use in the home etc. ✌🏻❤️😊

Hi @@princessmel8701, Consider borrowing one from a local lending closet to see if she would be able to use it. That way you’re not out all that money if it doesn’t work out for her.
Here’s a link to a national lending closet directory: gotdme.org

Thank you for the video, very helpful. My concern is having to remove the device when folding up the wheelchair back into the car

This style of Sit n Stand would have to be removed before folding up the wheelchair. It might be a good idea to find a bag to carry the Sit n Stand in when not in use.

I don’t think this will raise me up high enough. Can you recommend any other tools or techniques for those of us who have a hard time standing up from the wheelchair?
I can’t get up by myself. My husband has to lift me up from the back.

Are you able to pull yourself into standing? If you were sitting in front of your kitchen sink, would you be able to pull yourself up by holding on to the sink? Are your arms strong enough for that?

If you are strong enough to pull yourself up check out the Footbar Walker. Here’s our demo video:

@@AECornerno I can’t. My arms and legs are weak. I can stand once I’m up.

@@SC-qy6if Our recommendation in this instance would be a mechanical lift called a sit to stand. It’s a hydraulic lift that you might be able to borrow from a local lending closet. A sit to stand mechanical lift will save your husband’s back from needing to pull on you. If you borrow it from a local lending closet you can make sure it’s a device that would work in your situation. That way if it doesn’t work for you you won’t be out all that money. Mechanical lifts are expensive!
Most of the time this lift is used to transfer someone from one sitting surface to another sitting surface. We realize you said that once you’re up into standing you can walk however, if your legs are too weak to stand and your arms are too weak to pull this puts you at a very high risk for falls and injury.
Would you consider having your primary care doctor refer you for physical therapy for leg and arm strengthening?
