God-DAMN. Can Teresa and the rest of them get an “Amen!”? So so soulful…and funky, too. They’re in no rush - walk, don’t run - and, for my money, squeeze every last drop out of it.
More people like yourself Larry that’s what this planet really needs more of. Thank you for all the great Musik you’ve produced over the many years, it has been inspirational to say the least. Keep up the good work.
Yup. Good filming. Good drums too. She might not even like Susan Tedeschi but I am placing her up there. Just as good or better. I won't say which. When you see a show like this, you are in a good mood for a couple of days.
So glad I stumbled on this it’s incredible- so much groove spirit & soul in this performance - what an absolute joy to see & hear this- such genuine talent 🙌🎶🙌💖
This is better than Grateful Dead rendition. So much more heart and passion. I think Jerry existed to influence other musicians and performers to carry on hi legacy and build upon it for future generations. Thank you for this. her voice is soooo full of soul.
I love that you love this version of a classic Hunter/Garcia tune! Ms. Williams and the guys are great. Also, Jerry's legacy is growing by the day as you point out. I don't know that I would go as far as your conclusions about this version being better than the Dead's, especially given the number of times the band played it, to say nothing of the JGB versions. However, what a great topic for endless discussion and repeated listening to the many versions! Thanks It Was the Music for posting this.
I’m sure some GD devotees will excoriate your blasphemy 😉 you hit the nail right on top of the head. This…is astounding. She doesn’t sing the song…she just happens to have an audience present while she issues her plaintive plea to her darling sugaree. And that ain’t no band - it’s a choir walking right alongside her every step of the way.
One thang. I never have known what this song is about, but I like it. I remember getting a Grateful Dead 45 record for buying a box of chicken way back. Truckin. I liked the song. This vid was posted 2 yrs. ago. That might be when it was maded. The Hot Tuna guys hopefully are still around. I know their names. Have played in other good bands. Look it up.
Even when he was younger, Jack's expressions always seemed odd to me, in ways I can't exactly describe. The Fur Peace Ranch CoVid series raised my appreciation of both Jorma and Jack as consummate musicians, with interesting collections of instruments. It also filled in confusion from way back over the Airplane, Starship, Electric Tuna, and a few other incantations, as well as Kantner's meaning about Evil Incarnate, aka his ex-wife, a talented and weird Silver Spoon holder.
could never get a "feel" for Theresa when she and Larry backed Levon. she always had to take sort of back seat to other guests and Amy. This is really good.
Is this a joke comment??? I honestly can't tell... This was literally like the most average thing ever... The solo at the end was off everywhere and the singing throughout was below average... Be honest, how high were you when you wrote that???
@@howieloader No Joke, not high. Sorry for confirming Poe's law. I disagree with your assessment. I like Theresa's enthusiasm, I love Jorma and Jack's style together. YMMV.
@@keithkersten5586 (sorry about the delay in response) Cubensis version I saw was very good. [anther picky deadhead] The guitarist I saw repeated the same lick too many times in a row during the solo for my taste. [/another picky deadhead]
@@archstanton_live agree with you, Larry is very good and Jorma is Excellent guitar player. Jorma and Jack, Jack Bruce and Gary Moore, James Dewar and Robin Trower, they were excellen duets on guitar and bass. . Greetings Archstanton.
Me working security for a Punk Rock show at The Temple in SF - circa 1980 asking the great Jack Cassidy why he was there ( cheeky) not knowing at the time that The Temple was an old practice space for the Dead back in the day. He had probably been there before me by 12 years.
Never thought it was my brother. This was a comment about my ignorance and the irony of the question to Jack. He had been in the Temple years before me and me not knowing that is funny. It was a self-own
Once again, I love you Hello, would you please play this for me and I I will, instead of seeking a place in the same space, I will gather what's relevant . Please don't delete following....now one week from starting this chit-' chat is now with the passing of Mr. David Crosby. 💏 love will always rule.
Back in the day it was a real scene there was something real about it and now it's all just fake everything is fake. After Jerry died it's all just substandard echoes.
larry campbell and jorma playing the dead, gets no better than this!

I hope Larry, Teresa and all of these great musicians realize how important their music is to us and what it does for us !! Love them !!💕
Stunningly beautiful. This is how live music should be.
Jerry was smiling when he heard this one. Keep on keeping on .
Jerry loves all music and music is better for that.
She is so good and Larry and Hot Tuna killed it!
Been a great fan of Campbell & Williams. Put them with this band and it's nearly perfection.
Jack is a Beast!
That's what an airplane will do to you
I can listen to this on repeat. It is one of my top songs in my mix.
Monster: elegant, evocative, essential.
Great song for Teresa's style and range and one of the best produced music videos I've seen in a while
Great performance and great singing and sounds- 😍

@@Jeff-jg7jh I think T's voice is sweeter and more nuanced and I am a big fan of Susan Tedeschi
It's so good that it's emotionally moving to see it. I love these people! Jorma and Jack are so cool, and they're "like family" with Larry and Teresa.
Although being a fan of Jorma and Jack I think I caught them at the Further Festival ❤
Love this version. Of course, he's a Campbell. lol. Teresa ... owns this song.

What a great mix of musicians. Great cover!
Nice version, good band. The bass player is outstanding.
Sing it, Teresa.
Jack on bass, TheBest!
This might be the best cover of this tune that I've ever heard... Thank you!
Love this version…Teresa is incredible….
A grateful Jerry song!!!
Excellent Cover!!!Totally enjoyed this Aces on arrangement!!!! Musicians & Vocals!!!! Killed It😊🎶🎶🎶✌️❤️Maureen
What a great song and perfect! Phil Leah would be proud 🥲! Larry is just amazing on guitar!
And I saw hot tuna and Jorma solo in many places in new york early 80's
This is my first listen to Larry and Teresa wow! Perfect with Jorma and Jack great drums! Thank You

The Dead is a school of music all their own. These songs are standards now.

Very nice job, indeed! (and that's coming from a seriously aging Grateful Dead fan...)

Best cover since Jerry passed, maybe even best from before.

What's the ski hill? And is that a Joe Barden Pickup in the tele neck? pretty awesome tone and clarity.
Where was this at??
Campbell's Dead Tuna with some Williams for dessert! Sweet and Delicious!
is she (teresa) related to hank.
Not as far as I know.
Jack's smiling
The airplane ✈️ and the dead didn't start the san Francisco sound. They were the sound others copied ❤😂😅
Too bad Teresa wasn't the lead singer for the Dead--- they would've sold more records:)
I thought Donna could mess up a GD song but Campbell could mess up a song like no one eles
Thanks. We are so fortunate to have your informed opinion.

Those bends are not for this song sorry…
Unfamiliar with her style , although she can rock and roll
Back in the day it was a real scene there was something real about it and now it's all just fake everything is fake. After Jerry died it's all just substandard echoes.
This is all wrong. Don't like this at all, no one but the Dead should do this song--and it belonged to Jerry anyway, it was on his solo album
What? And Mozart's music should only be performed by Mozart?
No song belongs to one person. That's totally illogical. I'm a great Dead fan - but this is very good.
Jerry would have loved it. The point is to keep great music alive.
-LET THE MUSIC PLAY.
If you don’t like why are you here? Just go away…
Love the playing, her singing is way off though
Different style I guess!
Are you shitting me? That was great!
Jerry could be equally as off beat and ragged. Jack held it together.
