  • "Around 10% of the purchase price per year, absolute minimum for upkeep." A dream Scottish castle could be yours. But it'll cost you. Again and again. Bloomberg Quicktake's Alex Morgan explains.
Anyone longing to become the Queen or King of their very own castle need look no further than Scotland. Here, the fairytale is very much a reality, with some 10 properties offered every year.
For starters, 16th century Myres Castle, outside Fife, is on the market for £3.5 million ($4.3 million). There’s no cauldrons of boiling oil, but you do get 10 bedrooms, 5 reception rooms, and 45 acres of grounds complete with a hedge maze, a walled garden and a tennis court. History lovers can shade under a tree that purportedly was planted by Mary Queen of Scots herself.
Best of all, for some, Myres Castle isn’t far from renowned golfing club St. Andrews and less than an hour’s drive from the capital of Edinburgh.

If I’m not mistaken Myers, ( I think it was Andrew but it’s long time ago), he was a Sculptor and also did some sports racer work, design and fabrication.

Further to my comment I think I may be mistaken but the sculptor I referred to did have an Estate in East Fife. And excuse me for being so pedantic, these are not Castles they are Country Houses, Earlshall was a Lorimer house, we used to be acquainted with the owner, as we used to graze sheep in some of the surrounding fields way back in the late 1970’s early 80’s.
