  • Spice up your Izula with our BladeHQ original paracord wrap. Amanda invented a way to wrap the Izula without leaving any ends hanging. It's pretty sweet.

    Thanx for the video. I love the way you finished it too. A tip to get the cord really tight....carefully pour boiling water over the paracord & give it a warm place to dry. You'll be amased at how tight it will be!

    I like this wrap, and used it on the Izula I just got. But I found by using thinner cord to make two loops, putting them in and starting to wrap around them about half way through, I was able to use the loops to fish the ends back down and it only took a real quick and easy moment to do it this way.
    Didn't have a hemostat so I had to improvise and it worked quite well :)

  • @monty098
    @monty098 13 лет назад

    It's a little hard to wrap it tight, yeah, but that's what the hemostat's for! In the Knot world it's called "Dressing the knot/wrap". Once it's tied you TIGHTEN it.
    Mine's wrapped tight, no nasty ends showing, and the paracord hasn't slipped a bit! I absolutely love this "Hidden end wrap". Thank you for sharing your amazing-ness Amanda!!! You rock my socks!

    I just got my Fire Ant Red ESEE Izula in the mail..overall,I love it..the red coating is beautiful and I love the design..besides,what’s not to love about an ESEE knife? with that being said;it quickly reminded me why I don’t like using knives without some type of handle scales or atleast a wrapping..I didn’t quit have the money to spend on the black G10 scales and the molle backing when I ordered the knife but plan on ordering them tomorrow..I think I might get out some black paracord and wrap the handle so I can go ahead and start carrying it some before I get my scales..I mainly got it to strap on my rucksack with my Junglas and ESEE 4 for when I go out in the woods..I didn’t buy the Izula for EDC but as much as I think I’m gonna like it after I get my scales on it,I think I will cycle it in my EDC occasionally..although I don’t see anything taking the spot of my #1 EDC knife,my trusty Bradford Guardian 3

    great idea on using the hemostats. Great video

  • @mirandarichins4936
    @mirandarichins4936 6 лет назад

    There's a quicker way to do this if you take a couple of pieces of scrap cords from the core make loops and place them under your braid when you are done with your wrap feed the paracord through the loop and pull it through trim and burn and you don't have to worry about scratching the finish and any rust forming where you can't see it

  • @mysss29
    @mysss29 12 лет назад

    Oh, and you could probably just loosen the last several wraps and feed the cord through. Then you'd tighten them again and pull the end. That would avoid needing the hemostat (though they come in very handy for these things anyway).

    It seems to me you could do the same after wrapping one of the tails around the hole...but I won't try it since I like a different style wrap better. I might make a video when I re-wrap mine. (not that the information isn't out there--I like a variation on the "Strider handle wrap.")

    Instead of hemostats or needle drivers, you should look for alligator forceps. They are very narrow and only the tip opens, not both arms, so you can get them into very narrow, long spaces. Thank me later!

    How tight are you doing each wrap? I remember wrapping a full tang tomahawk handle, and it ended up bowing because the wrap was tight and there was more pull on one side to the other. This seems pretty even, so can it be pulled tight with each pass?

    So can i really call you up and just talk about what color i want? I would choose a blue izula if there was one but that would be alittle corny because i already have a blue delica i got from you guys. I think the red is alittle too much 'out there' but the standard colors are too plain. I like the venom green the best but i would rather have a white one and just putting it out there, imagine if esee made a chroma flair model? it obviously would have to be a gloss coating but still really cool

    The technique is really interesting although it is really hard to wrap it tight this way. And when it's not wrapped tight, the cord will slip on the handle and get untied if you grip hard the knife or make some stabbing motions. And for me this was annoying as hell!

      Check with your local laws.

    • @ThiccRic
      @ThiccRic 10 лет назад

      If it's legal in your area you should be able to. But I have one and fixed blades can be a bit cumbersome as an EDC. I usually stick with a Victorinox Super Tinker. Which I lost so I am now carrying my Izula regularly. Just something to think about, trying to be helpful. However it is kind of funny to see some people reactions to carrying a fixed blade.

    • @davidkatz1503
      @davidkatz1503 10 лет назад

      Eric Krause Agreed. A buddy of mine edc'd a mid-sized fixed blade (can't remember the brand/model) in such a fashion (under the shirt), and would get THE dirtiest looks from sheeple around him. He stopped carrying it like that, but only because it was uncomfortable.

    • @asthmaticrhino

      Not in CA. You need to open carry any fixed blade regardless of length.

    • @ThatOneGuySometime

    Having adequate light so that the viewers could actually see what this woman was doing would have been a nice touch; this video looked like it was shot by candle light......with the candle being on the far side of the room. And the use of dark purple paracord didn't help either.

    • @ThatOneGuySometime
      @ThatOneGuySometime 9 лет назад +1

      +Dirk Stabins Nah, that ain't true. I should know, I have 20/10 vision.
      On a serious note, had she chosen a lighter color for the tutorial, it may have worked better. But I got the gist of the video, and the process is pretty darn good.

    • @Merlinever
      @Merlinever 9 лет назад

      +Dirk Stabins There's nothing wrong with my vision and what I wrote about the video having been filmed in inadequate light should be obvious to anyone who viewed it...... who has a mind. You should have listened to your mother when she told you not to speak unless you have something intelligent to say......that is if, you had a mother with the sense to tell you that...

    So dumb. I mean, for so cheap, it's better to buy something that you may never usually need than to one day need it and have to think back on that time when you talked yourself out of it just to save four dollars... XD

    Hemostat? Who the fuck owns a hemostat? The Esee Izula is meant for Campers, Back-packers, Survivalists, Preppers, EDC folk and such. We all; instead, have a Multi-Tool or a Swiss Army knife at hand. Rather say tweezer. My biggest gripe however, is in hiding access to the para-cord. You need instant access to the para-cord in case of emergency. That is the whole idea behind a "skeletonized knife": i.e. a very sturdy full tang blade wrapped in para-cord that can be accessed easily! Tight wrap though; I thank you.

    • @ThatOneGuySometime
      @ThatOneGuySometime 9 лет назад +6

      A) a good prepped would have a full medical kit
      B) a better choice of tool (other than the suggested hemostat) would be needle nosed pliers
      C) the paracord would be really easy to access because it's not glued or tied; all you gotta do is tug those ends loose.
