Bear Spray. I just bought two cannisters at REI Santa Cruz. The Woke sales Rep. shouting..."This is the guy who is Buying the Bear Spray!!!!" To everyone. Lecturing me.. "We can sell it to you, but you can't use it in California" . I'll use it as I see fit. Going on a camping/fishing trip next week for four days near the area where the first recorded Black Bear human fatality in California just recently happened.

GOOD for you Brad! Super healthy low carb, high protein diet! I’ve been higher protein Keto for over five years, and eating super clean grass fed and organic foods. Never felt better!
I've been on Keto for 2 months and really feel good, but admittedly about half way into the trip we had to adjust just because of access. Next time I will make more prepared meals and freeze them. Looking forward to getting back to eating clean!
Wife and I just drove from lacombe Alberta to the Yukon boarder over to liard hotsprings had to take the same route you did due to the fire we packed the gladiator with a cooler a propane flat grill our camping hammocks and a hammock hot tent with a lil Woodstove a shotgun a 22 and sleeping bags 😊.. had best trip as we had several hundred kilometers of the Alaska hwy to ourselves and not having our lil offgrid trailer it was easy to explore any side trails or roads. 😮
We stopped at the Liard Hotsprings on the way home, I'm not a Hotsprings guys, but man that was incredible. A bit touristy, but I'd absolutely recommend it.... plus it was nice to have a hot soak after 3 weeks!
You can very easily crunch down a water bottle with the lid off and then when you crunch it down, you can put the lid back on and then it will stay crunched.
I have to say that I have multiple Noco jumper packs. I have used them for years. I have a couple smaller ones for the V-6 engines, but for my Chevy I am on my second GB70 jumper pack. The first one died due to the heat here in Vegas caused the batteries to expand and pop apart the plastic casing. It still works, but I don't trust it to be left in the car anymore. I bought a second one along with a storage case to hopefully keep down some of the heat in the car so hopefully I don't lose that one to heat again. It charges up anything while camping and always has jump started anything I needed (my car, other motorists cars/trucks) Its just easy to use and works.
Awesome video as always Brad. Everything you’ve packed is so practical if you can Brad can you film a video on how to evenly distribute weight in your rig and trailer.

I’m curious about your experience with the induction cooktop in the camper. How has that affected your needs for power generation? Especially on your zero days, does the use of induction mean having to run your tow vehicle to charge batteries?

@@AceInvader it’s not the rating of the frame and suspension that would be in question. The Pentastar V6 is lacking power unless you run at high rpm. So when he is hauling way more weight with the same engine I’m interested in what the performance really is. I solved my problem with supercharge. Totally different beast now.

Do you have the HD springs with your AEV build and do you think it’s needed for towing your trailer? We are considering a similar camping trailer to yours. With the Patriot, did you worry about the water system freezing on this trip? Keep the great content coming and thank you!
Word of caution regarding the fuel cans. If they are Wavian cans, I have experienced leaks from two of them that were strapped down in Wavian can holders in the back of my pickup. Over time both of them developed leaks around the stiffening impressions on the sides of the can. The leaks occurred in areas that were NOT contacting the holders, so it was not a rubbing issue, but rather a metal fatigue issue at a stress point in the steel pressing on the side of the can. I'm new to all of this. I figured freeze dried food would be the (primary) way to go, but you packed a lot of fresh/frozen meats. Is the fridge powered/plugged in 24/7 or do just occasional throughout the day? Going to be re-thinking a lot here. Great content. Thank you!

@@TrailRecon we had a great trip. From GSMNP, where we live, visited Rocky Mountain NP, Tetons, Yellowstone, Northern Cascades NP, Redwoods NP, PCH1 to Yosemite NP, Seqioa NP, and Zion NP. With a lots of stops in between. It was epic!
Question: I saw on a different video you mentioned rearing your gladiator before your trip north. I might have missed it on one of your other videos.. what ratio did you have the gladiator changed to? keep up the good work and the adventures. You’re an inspiration to many and for those of us who still work our butts off for Uncle Sam and don’t have as much time as you do it’s fun to live vicariously through your adventures. Thanks!!
Do you have a speed limitation on that trailer? Does it get squirrelly at a certain highway speed or no problems? I know some of them can't go more than about 60-65.
Honestly, she just pieced that together... but she did it twice, because we wanted the same thing in the van. Just a search on Amazon and I think you can find it.
Bear spray is a problem in CA? Dude, you need to move. Great video. Thank you. It looks like you don't trust grocery stores in Canada. You have electric cooktop, why not go with a Keurig for coffee?
@@TrailRecon Thank you. We looked hard at that Patriot Camper, but went with an AOR Odyssey 3 instead, after two seasons with a Boreas XT. We live in Ventura, so if you see someone pulling an Odyssey wave, it’s us.
That X3 camper is so cool!!! I wish they made some type of hard sided pop up similar to my Aliner I have. Im stationed up here in Central Montana and a lot of campgrounds and places we visit don't allow soft sided campers or tents due to the bear activity up here. Patriot campers if your listening, maybe a hard sided lightweight camper that sleeps 4 and under 3500lbs GVWR(for my bronco haha) 🫶🙏🙏🙏🙏
Don't get me wrong I love my Aliner. It does good for what it is. But the build quality isn't super amazing. I hope it was, too nice of an area to get torn up by wildfires.
There were signs along the road that said it was a prescribed burn.
Are any of these brands you run sponsoring the trip? The trailer manufacturer, Red Arc, Frontrunner etc?
When heading to the far reaches up north, what do you do for protection? I know you can't carry across the northern border brother.
Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to following along. We just returned from an epic month adventure, but in a 23' RV. I think you have more stuff! :) Lots of great gear though, I've already added a few items to my wish list.
Lot's of great places to see in an RV out ere. We've seen a lot more of them since we've come back in to BC and Alberta, I think it's peak season at the moment.
6 mpg on your trip ??
Nope, much better than that. I'll talk more about mpg in an upcoming video.
Awesome video! Can you post a link for the fuel cans you have in the bed?
we need to see Doc and you on an XOverland Series
Question: I saw on a different video you mentioned rearing your gladiator before your trip north. I might have missed it on one of your other videos.. what ratio did you have the gladiator changed to? keep up the good work and the adventures. You’re an inspiration to many and for those of us who still work our butts off for Uncle Sam and don’t have as much time as you do it’s fun to live vicariously through your adventures. Thanks!!
he went with 4:88's
Do you have a speed limitation on that trailer? Does it get squirrelly at a certain highway speed or no problems? I know some of them can't go more than about 60-65.
Hi Brad, very nice video. I really enjoyed it. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow campsite looks beautiful!
It was one of many incredible ones I found this trip.
I'm glad you didn't overpack. 😆
Hi Brad, Happy Father’s Day
Thanks so much
Ok where do we find that spice rack
Honestly, she just pieced that together... but she did it twice, because we wanted the same thing in the van. Just a search on Amazon and I think you can find it.
Hi Brad! Are you filming with a osmo pocket 3? How’s it working out for ya?
How did you refill the water tank on the X3 - fresh water filter?
I stopped from time to time and grabbed a couple gallons of water. We were able to pay $10 to fill our tanks at and RV site in Dawson City
Brad any concern about frame issues towing? Seems many have issues.
I'm keeping an eye on it, I've seen what can happen.
How much extra weight does all this add up too. Man! Your bringing a lot of stuff but Hey!! I know you have to be prepared for everything for weeks
Brad, brother. Please tell me where you got wild caught Alaskan Salmon for $12.34 lol. That’s an unheard of great price!
LOL! I think it was Trader Joes
Nice video and I thought my road trip with my son 10,000 miles from Tennessee to Montana and Idaho was a big deal great video I’m jealous 😂
Some of my best trips have been with my sons, I'll bet you guys had a blast!
Are you going to share the travel route file?
Question Brad.... In you rvideo I saw you were using a real tiny video camera, what are you using. Thanks Jeff
It's a DJI Osmo. It's a great little camera!
Good luck. I’ll follow
Bear spray is a problem in CA? Dude, you need to move.
Great video. Thank you. It looks like you don't trust grocery stores in Canada.
You have electric cooktop, why not go with a Keurig for coffee?
Finally! Will follow your trip!
Which induction cooktop did you choose?
I honestly think many of them are the same and just re-labeled. This is the one I bought, but can't say its any better than others: amzn.to/3x6XmlT
@@TrailRecon Thank you. We looked hard at that Patriot Camper, but went with an AOR Odyssey 3 instead, after two seasons with a Boreas XT. We live in Ventura, so if you see someone pulling an Odyssey wave, it’s us.
What’s the brand for the heater and shower- nice gear.
Wheres your air compressor?
Under the engine bay
I've had it two years and the first year I had to have a window resealed under warranty cause it leaked massively and this year the seam of one of the pop ups is leaking so I have to take it in tomorrow to have fixed.
What kinda knife was that on the panel??
Gerber
Bugs/Mosquitos should be high on your list.
I wouldn't take those along. Leave them at home.
One lucky dude👊🏻
