it's not terrible, sweet is top player in the world, his kill death ratio's is very high even if he sucks on console, he belongs in pred lobbies :) L2p
there is absolutely no argument that this system is not horrifically bad. He played on a brand new account in this challenge. And my 2.5kd ass has had the exact same #1 pred stack in every game from silver to masters this season. @@DailyConsumerHub

This is an understandable point of view but I disagree because pro players do speak out about how shit the matchmaking is, they want to be a high ranking and while them playing ranked is inherently making ranked harder for lower ranked people, it’s respawns fault that the game is like that, and the pros really don’t have anything they can do about that.

I’m genuinely missing how fun this game used to be like season 1-8 I enjoyed this game and got like gold and plat when I started playing ranked in season 7 and 8 which is when I finally played more consistently and competitively,and finally solo q’d to diamond for the first time in season 13 with dwindling hope for the game to be fun because it was already hell with that season,and by season 15 I was playing a smaller amount of time just by not only growing up a little more because around that time I had gotten into highschool barley,and I stopped playing ranked around that time because it was starting to be horrible,and after around season 18 I got to playing once a week maybe and now for the last 6 or so months,played like maybe once every two or three weeks just solo no filling duos and on occasion trios and it’s just people who are triple stacking pubs with who are all preds and masters ranked,and seeing this gameplay of sweet in gold definitely nowhere near a preds skill and getting them in silver and gold lobbies makes me happy the last time I played apex a month I loaded in and looked at the screen and thought about it and just ended up closing the game,and genuinely I have more fun on apex just messing around shooting dummies in the firing range than playing any actual games,im so glad the finals came around because I feel at least a little bit of fun playing video games again and shooters in general
That always really pisses me off. Me and my pred three stack never go into pubs running it down lol. Maybe once a month we decide to hop into a pubs for a single game to warm up, but we don’t really even do that, we just go into the range. I really hate no filling pubs trying to drop a 20 bomb only to run into a sweaty group of three stacking nerdy preds or masters. Like go play ranked if you are gonna take pubs that seriously. They probably will remove the challange to win from platinum to diamond or at least give it a second option and they probably will adjust the wasted points when you win a game and you are only 5LP away from your challange to rank up the game only gives you 5LP and then you have to win again and wasted 245LP for nothing wich right now is stupid. This season we almost have as many people in master then we had last season and this season still has a month to go. We will have more master players this season then we had last season!
Week 1 solo q player, stopped playing at this point. But what I learnt with Apex is it takes one step forward and three steps back. S20 will be a massive let down mark my words.

I don't tihnk season 20 will be much different when there is nothing that shakes up the game but I also have almost 3500 hours in the game so its starting to get stale no matter what :D I am waiting for stalker 2 at this point... IGL is super frustrating because most of the time you don't have an issue taking responsibility for making a bad call and getting everyone killed, but when you make a call, it needs to be NOW. People hesitate for even 2-5 seconds and then blame you. Shoot at 4 squads, get all 4 shooting at you, then say, "We were in a bad spot." No, you made it a bad spot when you did 20-40 damage on every team in the lobby so they shot back at us. Micro-managing your squadmates is so huge and most people are clueless to how difficult IGL actually is.
I just feel like if my hidden mmr is going to put me against diamond+ players then i should just be placed in diamond rank after placement matches lol. Wtf is the point of a ranked system if you don't play people of the same rank.
If my hidden MMR is going to stack me agains 3 stack masters and pred over and over the game should give me a team at least near my MMR and not give me team mates that land, "loot" takes 5 min looting and fixing inventory to end up running a P2020 or Mozambique.
It’s really really good for the console community. But no pro wants to play on console. None of them. Sweet did because he was sponsored and didn’t mind learning controller, but 60fps to a pro is god awful. Among many many other things. Not worth it for them. But it would be cool to see a cracked roller player fight a cracked console top Pred cheater!

This is exactly why I stopped playing apex. The game is no longer rewarding in regard to skill development. The MMR system is so fucked up it actually punishes you for it. After over 3 years of grinding solo ranked; I only watch pro league shit now.

As a 4x console Pred, I feel his pain. I solo queued to Pred for the very first time in season 15, and until then, I thought the top console Preds were just like PC Preds. Just genuinely good players. Well, that was only partially true. I’m a top Pred, I play with top #5 Preds all the time, and so when I say that 80% of all the Preds on console cheat, it’s not even close to being an inaccurate number. They ALL cheat, and it’s NOT a strike pack. A strike pack is NOTHING compared to the device I shall not name that they use. Anyways, some of these Preds on console do some really really cringey stuff, so I’m not surprised they stream sniped sweet at all. I’m very glad sweet played on console for the very fact he is bringing to light how bad console is, and sharing our suffering with the rest of the world. 60fps is god awful, the cheating is rampant, and even as a Pred who runs through lobbies everyday, fighting brain dead lobbies who push everything with no thought behind it is frustrating af. So I’m glad sweet played even though he suffered!
Been saying this since last season there’s zero sense of progression when your lobbies are just as hard in silver as they are in d1. Makes it so rank is a reflection of time spent grinding and not skill
It exists for the other side of the coin, since there is no low mmr penalty the reverse also happens which is why we had so many masters the first season of this trash, a .05 kd player can make his way to masters playing nothing but true bronze players, between this and the lack of variety of matchmaking in the strict sbmm pubs that don't allow you to play unranked with friends of varying skill levels! I Take No Joy In Seeing Him Have To Deal With The Stuff That We Console Players Have To Deal With, But It Does Feel Good To Know That Someone As Good As Him Has THE SAME Experience Us Non-Pros Have Because While He Signed Up For This, Alot Of Us Don’t Have Other Pro Friends We Can Party Up With And Rely On Them To Win All Their 1s And Know We Don’t Have To Carry All Game, Every Game
I'm glad he got to see what it's like to try and solo ranked in this system. It's actually terrible what the "hidden MMR" does, you end up in silver/gold off the rip and you end up playing against masters/preds but get no more RP for winning in a touger lobby. Bring Season 13 split 1 ranked back, most balanced and rewarding system we had and the only issue was self revive which has been removed entirely from the game
I actually rate Sweet so highly for not only exposing how flawed the Season 17 ranked system was, but for trying console and highlighting how miserable an experience it is for so many of us regular 9-5 work/school going gamers. Respawn seriously needs to improve this system, or my preferred thing would be to scrap hidden MMR ranked all together.

that is the problem, Apex is about money, preds that are streamers going to be match against the low level just to make the game looks good and easy so they attract more people thats equals more money, the game is and was never about skills, you can't use the words skills and aim assist in the same sentence .
That first clip of the guys not listening to a sweet has to say is exactly why I stopped playing this game on Console. People on there just do not listen and always want to do whatever they think is best.
This is exactly what I experienced when soloQing. Being in Gold/Plat rank and getting put with lower ranked teammates every match and facing nonstop Masters and Preds. I played from Day 1 launch but finally stopped playing around 3 weeks into season 17. Surprised more ppl havent quit tbh. Matchmaking is so broken. Im probably a plat/diamond skilled player (game sense/tactics more so than mechanical skill) and I should literally never be seeing a pred player. Respawns hard stance to keep que times extremely low ruined this game imo. Preds/masters should have higher que times to pool them all together and keep them out of Diamond and below lobbies. Maybe a solo Qing masters or pred gets tossed into a Diamond lobby but that should be a rarity.
I hate it when they know it's bad and not gonna change it probably until next season, Not like games from riot they changed things everytime if it were good or bad

I think one thing that could be changed for the rank system is to have a pre-made squad lobby and a solo que lobby( not solo as in 1v1v1v1 etc, but as in its you+2 randoms, and everyones team is setup like that). There will still be masters and preds in lower lobbies and stuff, but itll cut down the current rank experience of running into triple stacked teams. Call of duty inplemented this into their multiplayer( can't remember which CoD it was) but it was mercenary mode, where everyone was solo que'd.

Console players go through a lot like getting multiple 3-stack preds per ranked game as silver-gold, brain-dead teammates, and sbmm not working at all in pubs, ranked, or party modes

Yet almost every game I will see at least one three stack pred trail on drop. We can still have some good games and enjoy playing but I don’t understand why it mixes three stack pred teams with casuals that play a couple of times a week?

If you make it to ranked lobbies where you're constantly competing against Masters and Pred players, you should just consider yourself Masters/Pred rank and call it a day. Put a Pred badge sticker on your monitor.
Yeah I'll be honest. I'm one of those teammates that does 20 damage. I don't understand why I get put in those kind of lobbies either. I haven't played in 3 weeks. If I hopped on now, I'd be there being that useless teammate for you (you on ps4?). Even when I do play consistently, it's only 2 days a week on the weekends. When I play with my friends I do well, because I have a grasp on how to play around them and support them. I completely agree with you that ranked is not fun as it is right now. I lost so much LP the other day while I was in gold 1. I just can't play without my friends on anymore. Climbing in gold shouldn't be an issue for me, but it's so obvious I'm playing against pre-made squads that are at minimum diamond and often master and pred. I would have zero issue if my rank was reflected by the difficulty of the lobby. Like you said, if I already reached plat/diamond and THEN it starts getting difficult, it makes sense. I actually needed my friends to get out from silver this season, which is a first. I used to solo my way to plat to get ahead of my friends. They tend to receive more RP than me, so I used to rush to get a headstart. When I tried that this season, I actually had a net loss of LP in silver. Feels bad when I know I'm not a silver player. I found out War zone has a ranked system now. You need to be level 45 to be able to play ranked. So I've installed War zone again and am already over level 30. I'll play apex again when my friends are on. I would like to play it alone, but I can't have fun on that game while alone. I'm not good enough for that...
As a console player, i totally agree with the issues with mmr and ranked in apex. Im a consistent master/pred on console since season 3 i took 2 weeks off. Then, I realized how bad it is to catch back up without a 3 stack pred/masters team.
Respawn should actually do a test where for 1 week they implement a system where no master or pred player is able to be put into any Diamond or below lobbies and see what the wait times turn out to actually be. I guarantee the majority of the player base (less than Diamond) game quality and enjoyment would skyrocket.
I just got out of Gold solo queuing, it was real tough getting passed the trials, I must’ve went thru 40 trials before passing, and I too felt defeated and not good enough to be playing against preds and masters. After gold I’m good to keep going again lol

I've always said that console lobbies are tougher. I know they all look like bots because most of them don't have movement, but there are no players with better aim and you are pushed instantly. I feel like I have someone on the team with 40-50,000 kills in every game!

I used to love playing apex ranked. Genuinely the most fun I had playing video games. Once the MMR was introduced I couldn't stand it for the same reasons sweet had here.
I pointed this problem since the start where they added the "hidden stats" where respawn send you to lobbys where you reached the most on the past seasons even if you start lower on the rank board
If they're going to base your games off of mmr, they need to do it like valorant where you rank up SUPER fast until your hidden mmr matches your ranked mmr

So what your saying is that premades queueing against full solo groups is actually a bad thing? No way?! It's not like this has been said since S1 or anything. Artificially gatekeeping players just because it's mandatory to group to gain rating had to be the dumbest decision I've ever seen since when League of Legends tried it once and it all went to hell in less than 1 season before they reverted it.
It's ironic because now, having a high rank means you're worse at the game because it means the MMR is placing you against bad players you can win against. If you have a low rank it's probably because you're already playing against better players and can't gain points consistently.
As an xbox player, my Silver lobbies this season were harder than my Diamond lobbies 3 seasons ago. About 4-5 weeks ago I just gave up on the game tbh, pubs aren't fun because it's just 60 people all trying to go for clips and get tiktok views, ranked is a shitshow as you can clearly see above. It's just not worth it to keep playing for another season in hopes that things will get better. I did that for 5 months and it never did, so why continue. Hopefully Respawn does something, there's no way they're seeing all this negative feedback and are satisfied with the state of the game. To this day I still believe this is the best FPS game in terms of it's core gameplay and mechanics, really don't want to see it die off because of corporate greed pushing micro transactions over actual game improvement and stability.

I think the reason why high level players are getting matched up with lower tiers (bronze, silver, gold) is that there aren't enough players to start a game with balanced ranks. Maybe that's the reason why they always reset to zero all of the players rank every season end.

Rank needs to go up with your MMR rating for the system to make sense. Then you could have something like a daily point loss so that people have to continue playing to keep their rank.

No. It is still easier than the old seasons before the mmr bs. Did you do it in these seasons as well? It’s actually pretty easy since the MMR system is in place. Because if you can climb you can climb every rank. And of course you will get sweatier lobbies if you progress. Which shouldn’t be the case with this system. It’s still easier than old diamond solo q. Because way more people get masters than back then. And there is no split. So more than enough time.
@@-DeZiRe- He got masters even before map rotations which is usually when the split happens. It's more impressive ranking up from rookie facing the same lobbies you would face in diamond and masters. Literally every game your enemies are equal or better skilled and your teamnates it's just a gamble. Back then you stomp to gold in like 2 days. Then it starts getting difficult. Meanwhile, you get the difficult lobbies from the beginning plus kills earn less LP than before plus -50 entry in rookie plus 4000 LP to rank from one rank to the other. Masters it's like pred. Skill isn't enough, you need to dedicate more time. Ppl used to play on weekends and get to diamond. Highly doubt anyone can do that now.

I didn’t play apex ranked last season but the one before I hit masters and it was just incredibly easy had some guy on our team one game away from masters and he said he had 1600 games in ranked that season while I was in diamond with about 200. It really shouldn’t take a ton of games but this season im already around 130 all be it I took a break and was very rusty but the lobbies are playing far tougher I’m running into masters and pred 3 stacks in gold which is wild
The avg solo que experience. I've solo que all the way to diamond, and it's rough. I'll get silver 2 teammates and just run into pred stacks. I've very rarely have a teammate that ever outdamages me. I feel his pain.
This is hilarious because it’s exactly what I went thru my entire time solo queueing this game. Even in pubs there are always a triple stack Pred team playing like it’s ALGS on console. Also, even the really bad players can beam on console due to stronger aim assist.
Last time i made it to plat in 2019 thats when you start fighting preds. Something that was really weird is that when i changed my data centre from virginia to belgium, it was always actually all plat players. I wonder if that still works these days?
I’ve played in the top console lobbies been masters twice and the solo que experience is just horrendous I’m in gold facing 3 stack pred teams who I can compete with but my two teammates who are in plat are trading 50 damage on them for a down on themselves and it’s just not possible to win I’m dropping at least 1k damage a game while my teammates have a combined 250. The hidden mmr is bullshit for that I get my lobbies in non ranked should be harder and I shouldn’t be playing new players in ranked but I also shouldn’t be playing the top 1 percent of players while I’m in silver and gold and I’m then stuck with guys that can’t control recoil. Ranked is hardly fun for that gold lobbies are just feeling like high diamond difficulty. The mmr needs reduced I shouldn’t be playing in diamond/masters lobbies while at silver/ gold rank

It’s been worse this season for me. My friends and I don’t play often so I’m gold 2 while one is silver 1 and the other silver 4 and we get lobbies like sweet got lol.
I play as a duo with my buddy, have almost a 15% win rate with 1/3 of my games being a top 5 and I’m still only plat 2 after 150 games. I’ve had to do the promotion challenges so many times because that’s when the game decides to F us with the matchmaking. We get a bot teammate that doesn’t listen and can’t win. If we get someone equal to our level we usually win but most of the time our random has less than 300 damage at the end of a top 5 finish while my buddy and I are 2k+. The promotion challenges are the most annoying things added to apex.
I solo que ranked every season. This one, with the trials....makes it insufferable. Last night on game 4 of 5...jumpmaster hot drops, we all split yet somehow land on the same loot blanket and I get no weapon, ping 10 times "need a weapon need a weapon" ping building away from fights. nobody comes. They go down, I get a 30/30 and nothing else. Enemies camp banners and I get spam messaged about being a trash can and go play fortnite. 10 out 10 experience. Love it. Be on tonight.
I am a console master, and I am currently in ROOKIE 3 playing against a pred 3 stack every single game. We win every game that there isn’t a 3 stack in it. I have 250 solo q games this season, 55 wins, and 86 top 5s. Yet I am still in the same rank that I was when I finished my placement matches.
I'm a new player, and steadily have been getting a grip on the game after being a plat player in fortnite didnt expect to be that high up but im stuck at bronze where the majority of my enemies are all in gold and plat .. Doesn't help when no one has comms.. it definitely makes a difference as this game not only relies heavily on player skill but as an info war.
Console preds largely use zens and strikepacks cheating is rampant on console, I stopped playing for 3 weeks after getting to plat 3 and I just started playing again a little a few days ago I’ve been matching with masters and preds regularly, my mmr places me with past masters players, thing is I’m sort of newer to the game and have not really played ranked much before this season, peaking at plat after playing 6 days one of the last seasons One thing I noticed is that ranks genuinely don’t matter, you’re matched with the same players no matter the rank I plan on getting my first masters season but not only does it feel insanely challenging from start to finish but it genuinely feels like a punishment for being good at the game, my lifetime kd isn’t even high it’s 1.5 and honestly the past two seasons have been giving me a beating 1.38 last season and 1.20 this season so far
This is why I want to move to PC, I'm always fighting masters/pred 3 stacks from placement up, and my teammates are trying to remember which stick moves and which stick aims.
Have you also noticed during promo trials, you get the worst possible teammates the first 3 games. Not exaggerating. In promo, first 3 matches I usually get teamed with a rookie and when I check their TRN, most of them are 0.7kd or below players. Edit: Wanted to add most console preds and masters are cheaters. And probably almost half of diamonds too. In addition, nowadays it is safe to assume more than half the playerbase cheats. Cronus, strikepacks, xims are always sold out and you have to make an order that takes months. And thats excluding using a pc as the surrogate to port cheats, which, several cheat providers offer, like EO (engine owning).
did he really quit the challenge or will he continue it? i watched a few games and it was entertaining but it sad it takes a big streamer/pro for the community to talk about things. most people been saying this for seasons/years how bad solo queue is in apex legends ranked. also the 10 matches always puts you in silver on average and you still go against people who are diamond/master/preds/pro level players. my randoms on avg be silver/gold and even if they are plat/diamond they play like they are bronze mindset players and zero clue how to play competitively or as a team against a well coordinated triple stack team.

It happens to all of us. Last season I played a bunch of times with E6 roster and we died many times without even dealing damage. Slayers was #3 at the time I think :D

This is an understandable point of view but I disagree because pro players do speak out about how shit the matchmaking is, they want to be a high ranking and while them playing ranked is inherently making ranked harder for lower ranked people, it’s respawns fault that the game is like that, and the pros really don’t have anything they can do about that.

I’m genuinely missing how fun this game used to be like season 1-8 I enjoyed this game and got like gold and plat when I started playing ranked in season 7 and 8 which is when I finally played more consistently and competitively,and finally solo q’d to diamond for the first time in season 13 with dwindling hope for the game to be fun because it was already hell with that season,and by season 15 I was playing a smaller amount of time just by not only growing up a little more because around that time I had gotten into highschool barley,and I stopped playing ranked around that time because it was starting to be horrible,and after around season 18 I got to playing once a week maybe and now for the last 6 or so months,played like maybe once every two or three weeks just solo no filling duos and on occasion trios and it’s just people who are triple stacking pubs with who are all preds and masters ranked,and seeing this gameplay of sweet in gold definitely nowhere near a preds skill and getting them in silver and gold lobbies makes me happy the last time I played apex a month I loaded in and looked at the screen and thought about it and just ended up closing the game,and genuinely I have more fun on apex just messing around shooting dummies in the firing range than playing any actual games,im so glad the finals came around because I feel at least a little bit of fun playing video games again and shooters in general
That always really pisses me off. Me and my pred three stack never go into pubs running it down lol. Maybe once a month we decide to hop into a pubs for a single game to warm up, but we don’t really even do that, we just go into the range. I really hate no filling pubs trying to drop a 20 bomb only to run into a sweaty group of three stacking nerdy preds or masters. Like go play ranked if you are gonna take pubs that seriously. People are so cringe in apex

This season we almost have as many people in master then we had last season and this season still has a month to go. We will have more master players this season then we had last season!

IGL is super frustrating because most of the time you don't have an issue taking responsibility for making a bad call and getting everyone killed, but when you make a call, it needs to be NOW. People hesitate for even 2-5 seconds and then blame you. Shoot at 4 squads, get all 4 shooting at you, then say, "We were in a bad spot." No, you made it a bad spot when you did 20-40 damage on every team in the lobby so they shot back at us. Micro-managing your squadmates is so huge and most people are clueless to how difficult IGL actually is.
I just feel like if my hidden mmr is going to put me against diamond+ players then i should just be placed in diamond rank after placement matches lol. Wtf is the point of a ranked system if you don't play people of the same rank.
If my hidden MMR is going to stack me agains 3 stack masters and pred over and over the game should give me a team at least near my MMR and not give me team mates that land, "loot" takes 5 min looting and fixing inventory to end up running a P2020 or Mozambique.

Sweet did because he was sponsored and didn’t mind learning controller, but 60fps to a pro is god awful. Among many many other things. Not worth it for them. This is exactly why I stopped playing apex. The game is no longer rewarding in regard to skill development. The MMR system is so fucked up it actually punishes you for it. After over 3 years of grinding solo ranked; I only watch pro league shit now.

As a 4x console Pred, I feel his pain. I solo queued to Pred for the very first time in season 15, and until then, I thought the top console Preds were just like PC Preds. Just genuinely good players. Well, that was only partially true. I’m a top Pred, I play with top #5 Preds all the time, and so when I say that 80% of all the Preds on console cheat, it’s not even close to being an inaccurate number. They ALL cheat, and it’s NOT a strike pack. A strike pack is NOTHING compared to the device I shall not name that they use. Anyways, some of these Preds on console do some really really cringey stuff, so I’m not surprised they stream sniped sweet at all. I’m very glad sweet played on console for the very fact he is bringing to light how bad console is, and sharing our suffering with the rest of the world. 60fps is god awful, the cheating is rampant, and even as a Pred who runs through lobbies everyday, fighting brain dead lobbies who push everything with no thought behind it is frustrating af. So I’m glad sweet played even though he suffered!

It exists for the other side of the coin, since there is no low mmr penalty the reverse also happens which is why we had so many masters the first season of this trash, a .05 kd player can make his way to masters playing nothing but true bronze players, between this and the lack of variety of matchmaking in the strict sbmm pubs that don't allow you to play unranked with friends of varying skill levels! This game will just keep hemorrhaging players as it is currently

I'm glad he got to see what it's like to try and solo ranked in this system. It's actually terrible what the "hidden MMR" does, you end up in silver/gold off the rip and you end up playing against masters/preds but get no more RP for winning in a touger lobby. Bring Season 13 split 1 ranked back, most balanced and rewarding system we had and the only issue was self revive which has been removed entirely from the game
I actually rate Sweet so highly for not only exposing how flawed the Season 17 ranked system was, but for trying console and highlighting how miserable an experience it is for so many of us regular 9-5 work/school going gamers.
Respawn seriously needs to improve this system, or my preferred thing would be to scrap hidden MMR ranked all together.

This is exactly what I experienced when soloQing. Being in Gold/Plat rank and getting put with lower ranked teammates every match and facing nonstop Masters and Preds. I played from Day 1 launch but finally stopped playing around 3 weeks into season 17. Surprised more ppl havent quit tbh. Matchmaking is so broken. Im probably a plat/diamond skilled player (game sense/tactics more so than mechanical skill) and I should literally never be seeing a pred player.
Respawns hard stance to keep que times extremely low ruined this game imo. Preds/masters should have higher que times to pool them all together and keep them out of Diamond and below lobbies. Maybe a solo Qing masters or pred gets tossed into a Diamond lobby but that should be a rarity.
I hate it when they know it's bad and not gonna change it probably until next season, Not like games from riot they changed things everytime if it were good or bad

I think one thing that could be changed for the rank system is to have a pre-made squad lobby and a solo que lobby( not solo as in 1v1v1v1 etc, but as in its you+2 randoms, and everyones team is setup like that). There will still be masters and preds in lower lobbies and stuff, but itll cut down the current rank experience of running into triple stacked teams.
Call of duty inplemented this into their multiplayer( can't remember which CoD it was) but it was mercenary mode, where everyone was solo que'd.
now imagine how frustated regular SoloQ players cz these are everyday lobbies for them

Yet almost every game I will see at least one three stack pred trail on drop. Yeah I'll be honest. I'm one of those teammates that does 20 damage. I don't understand why I get put in those kind of lobbies either. I haven't played in 3 weeks. If I hopped on now, I'd be there being that useless teammate for you (you on ps4?). Even when I do play consistently, it's only 2 days a week on the weekends. When I play with my friends I do well, because I have a grasp on how to play around them and support them.
I completely agree with you that ranked is not fun as it is right now. I lost so much LP the other day while I was in gold 1. I just can't play without my friends on anymore. Climbing in gold shouldn't be an issue for me, but it's so obvious I'm playing against pre-made squads that are at minimum diamond and often master and pred. I would have zero issue if my rank was reflected by the difficulty of the lobby. Like you said, if I already reached plat/diamond and THEN it starts getting difficult, it makes sense. I actually needed my friends to get out from silver this season, which is a first. I used to solo my way to plat to get ahead of my friends. They tend to receive more RP than me, so I used to rush to get a headstart. When I tried that this season, I actually had a net loss of LP in silver. Feels bad when I know I'm not a silver player.
I found out War zone has a ranked system now. You need to be level 45 to be able to play ranked. So I've installed War zone again and am already over level 30. I'll play apex again when my friends are on. I would like to play it alone, but I can't have fun on that game while alone. I'm not good enough for that...
As a console player, i totally agree with the issues with mmr and ranked in apex. Im a consistent master/pred on console since season 3 i took 2 weeks off. Then, I realized how bad it is to catch back up without a 3 stack pred/masters team.
Respawn should actually do a test where for 1 week they implement a system where no master or pred player is able to be put into any Diamond or below lobbies and see what the wait times turn out to actually be. I guarantee the majority of the player base (less than Diamond) game quality and enjoyment would skyrocket.
I just got out of Gold solo queuing, it was real tough getting passed the trials, I must’ve went thru 40 trials before passing, and I too felt defeated and not good enough to be playing against preds and masters.

I used to love playing apex ranked. Genuinely the most fun I had playing video games. Once the MMR was introduced I couldn't stand it for the same reasons sweet had here.
I pointed this problem since the start where they added the "hidden stats" where respawn send you to lobbys where you reached the most on the past seasons even if you start lower on the rank board
If they're going to base your games off of mmr, they need to do it like valorant where you rank up SUPER fast until your hidden mmr matches your ranked mmr

I had to play triple stack preds every game from the beginning. The placement matches were pred matches from the start. It’s so bad.
So what your saying is that premades queueing against full solo groups is actually a bad thing? No way?! It's not like this has been said since S1 or anything. Artificially gatekeeping players just because it's mandatory to group to gain rating had to be the dumbest decision I've ever seen since when League of Legends tried it once and it all went to hell in less than 1 season before they reverted it.
It's ironic because now, having a high rank means you're worse at the game because it means the MMR is placing you against bad players you can win against. If you have a low rank it's probably because you're already playing against better players and can't gain points consistently.
This is why ranked became worthless a few seasons ago. I play this game alot and yea everybody with masters badges suck
As an xbox player, my Silver lobbies this season were harder than my Diamond lobbies 3 seasons ago. About 4-5 weeks ago I just gave up on the game tbh, pubs aren't fun because it's just 60 people all trying to go for clips and get tiktok views, ranked is a shitshow as you can clearly see above. It's just not worth it to keep playing for another season in hopes that things will get better. I did that for 5 months and it never did, so why continue.
Hopefully Respawn does something, there's no way they're seeing all this negative feedback and are satisfied with the state of the game. To this day I still believe this is the best FPS game in terms of it's core gameplay and mechanics, really don't want to see it die off because of corporate greed pushing micro transactions over actual game improvement and stability.

I think the reason why high level players are getting matched up with lower tiers (bronze, silver, gold) is that there aren't enough players to start a game with balanced ranks. Maybe that's the reason why they always reset to zero all of the players rank every season end.

MMR is dumb when you’re silver/gold being put into diamond/masters lobbies. But one thing I noticed his aim on controller is average at best and I don’t even play console. I’m PC MnK. He’d get fried by a decent console player.

Rank needs to go up with your MMR rating for the system to make sense. Then you could have something like a daily point loss so that people have to continue playing to keep their rank.
This explains why im stuck in silver 1 currently and why ive had to attempt the trials 4 times already 😢

This was the hardest season to solo q to masters in a long time. But I did it! And doing it on another account again. I was stuck in silver and gold for a long time lol

No. It is still easier than the old seasons before the mmr bs. Did you do it in these seasons as well? It’s actually pretty easy since the MMR system is in place. Because if you can climb you can climb every rank. And of course you will get sweatier lobbies if you progress. Which shouldn’t be the case with this system. It’s still easier than old diamond solo q. Because way more people get masters than back then. And there is no split. So more than enough time.
@@-DeZiRe- He got masters even before map rotations which is usually when the split happens. It's more impressive ranking up from rookie facing the same lobbies you would face in diamond and masters. Literally every game your enemies are equal or better skilled and your teamnates it's just a gamble. Back then you stomp to gold in like 2 days. Then it starts getting difficult. Meanwhile, you get the difficult lobbies from the beginning plus kills earn less LP than before plus -50 entry in rookie plus 4000 LP to rank from one rank to the other. Masters it's like pred. Skill isn't enough, you need to dedicate more time. Ppl used to play on weekends and get to diamond. Highly doubt anyone can do that now.

@@-DeZiRe-for solo que definitely harder and definitely longer as a 3 stack it’s roughly the same as I’ve done both and that seems to be the case as they want it to take many more games. I didn’t play apex ranked last season but the one before I hit masters and it was just incredibly easy had some guy on our team one game away from masters and he said he had 1600 games in ranked that season while I was in diamond with about 200. It really shouldn’t take a ton of games but this season im already around 130 all be it I took a break and was very rusty but the lobbies are playing far tougher I’m running into masters and pred 3 stacks in gold which is wild
The avg solo que experience. I've solo que all the way to diamond, and it's rough. I'll get silver 2 teammates and just run into pred stacks. I've very rarely have a teammate that ever outdamages me. I feel his pain.

This is hilarious because it’s exactly what I went thru my entire time solo queueing this game. Even in pubs there are always a triple stack Pred team playing like it’s ALGS on console. Also, even the really bad players can beam on console due to stronger aim assist.

I dunno why the matchmaking comes as such a shock. That’s my exact experience on PC solo queue ranked. It’s perfectly normal.
Last time i made it to plat in 2019 thats when you start fighting preds. Something that was really weird is that when i changed my data centre from virginia to belgium, it was always actually all plat players. I wonder if that still works these days?

I’ve played in the top console lobbies been masters twice and the solo que experience is just horrendous I’m in gold facing 3 stack pred teams who I can compete with but my two teammates who are in plat are trading 50 damage on them for a down on themselves and it’s just not possible to win I’m dropping at least 1k damage a game while my teammates have a combined 250. The hidden mmr is bullshit for that I get my lobbies in non ranked should be harder and I shouldn’t be playing new players in ranked but I also shouldn’t be playing the top 1 percent of players while I’m in silver and gold and I’m then stuck with guys that can’t control recoil. Ranked is hardly fun for that gold lobbies are just feeling like high diamond difficulty. The mmr needs reduced I shouldn’t be playing in diamond/masters lobbies while at silver/ gold rank

Console solo ranked just makes it to where it really doesn't matter how good you do. It's up to matchmaking to decide when you rank up.

Its at least good to know that even the pros think that Ranked is 100% broken and not just me. This Ranked system is literally killing their own game and they refuse to change it. So frustrating
It’s been worse this season for me. My friends and I don’t play often so I’m gold 2 while one is silver 1 and the other silver 4 and we get lobbies like sweet got lol.
I play as a duo with my buddy, have almost a 15% win rate with 1/3 of my games being a top 5 and I’m still only plat 2 after 150 games. I’ve had to do the promotion challenges so many times because that’s when the game decides to F us with the matchmaking. We get a bot teammate that doesn’t listen and can’t win. If we get someone equal to our level we usually win but most of the time our random has less than 300 damage at the end of a top 5 finish while my buddy and I are 2k+. The promotion challenges are the most annoying things added to apex.
I solo que ranked every season. This one, with the trials....makes it insufferable. Last night on game 4 of 5...jumpmaster hot drops, we all split yet somehow land on the same loot blanket and I get no weapon, ping 10 times "need a weapon need a weapon" ping building away from fights. nobody comes. They go down, I get a 30/30 and nothing else. Enemies camp banners and I get spam messaged about being a trash can and go play fortnite. 10 out 10 experience. Love it. Be on tonight.

I am a console master, and I am currently in ROOKIE 3 playing against a pred 3 stack every single game. We win every game that there isn’t a 3 stack in it. I have 250 solo q games this season, 55 wins, and 86 top 5s. Yet I am still in the same rank that I was when I finished my placement matches.
I'm a new player, and steadily have been getting a grip on the game after being a plat player in fortnite didnt expect to be that high up but im stuck at bronze where the majority of my enemies are all in gold and plat .. Doesn't help when no one has comms.. it definitely makes a difference as this game not only relies heavily on player skill but as an info war.
Console preds largely use zens and strikepacks cheating is rampant on console, I stopped playing for 3 weeks after getting to plat 3 and I just started playing again a little a few days ago I’ve been matching with masters and preds regularly, my mmr places me with past masters players, thing is I’m sort of newer to the game and have not really played ranked much before this season, peaking at plat after playing 6 days one of the last seasons
One thing I noticed is that ranks genuinely don’t matter, you’re matched with the same players no matter the rank
I plan on getting my first masters season but not only does it feel insanely challenging from start to finish but it genuinely feels like a punishment for being good at the game, my lifetime kd isn’t even high it’s 1.5 and honestly the past two seasons have been giving me a beating 1.38 last season and 1.20 this season so far
This is why I want to move to PC, I'm always fighting masters/pred 3 stacks from placement up, and my teammates are trying to remember which stick moves and which stick aims.
Have you also noticed during promo trials, you get the worst possible teammates the first 3 games. Not exaggerating. In promo, first 3 matches I usually get teamed with a rookie and when I check their TRN, most of them are 0.7kd or below players.
Edit: Wanted to add most console preds and masters are cheaters. And probably almost half of diamonds too.
In addition, nowadays it is safe to assume more than half the playerbase cheats. Cronus, strikepacks, xims are always sold out and you have to make an order that takes months.
And thats excluding using a pc as the surrogate to port cheats, which, several cheat providers offer, like EO (engine owning).
did he really quit the challenge or will he continue it? i watched a few games and it was entertaining but it sad it takes a big streamer/pro for the community to talk about things. most people been saying this for seasons/years how bad solo queue is in apex legends ranked. also the 10 matches always puts you in silver on average and you still go against people who are diamond/master/preds/pro level players. my randoms on avg be silver/gold and even if they are plat/diamond they play like they are bronze mindset players and zero clue how to play competitively or as a team against a well coordinated triple stack team.
Console ranked is utterly pointless imo. I gave up ranked long ago.
