I started in the 6th chain - the 4 chains is a treble crochet chain 1 and the next chain is skipped for a chain space on the bottom side. Hope that helps :)

you can increase your hook size and it’ll have that effect

I’m not 100% sure because I just used some scrap yarn I had, but if I had to guess I’d say about 500m worth or 275g of this yarn
