Guys i exactly know what you mean i too was a walkon back in early 1990 at temple university football.i had to walk to campus from south philly to morth philly temple campus to save money on bus .plus i had walk 5 am i had to walk an hour and half before I got to practice
Loving your content. Passed up on numerous football offers coming out of high school and decided to join the army I still have a burning passion and need for the game so I’m planning on trying to walk on when I get out. Thank you guys
Question for you guys! Do incoming freshman (not guaranteed walk-ons) only get to try-out "next year" before Spring Ball (aka mid way through freshman year in Feb/March) Or is there a try out in late summer / early fall for Freshman to be all to make the 105 Fall training camp roster? Very interested in learning what month/time you guys made the team. Thanks for making these videos!!
Sometimes there's a tryout first week of the semester , depends on the school and what they want or need at the time. When I was there it was first week of fall and spring semesters, but it later changed and became more sporadic. I've heard different things from all different kids at other schools though so you gotta ask the team/school
and we made it in winter after the season (first week of spring semester)...others I knew made it in fall though. I personally think its much better in winter so you get the whole year with the team as opposed to jumping in week 1 of season
I plan on trying to walk on at my school now i graduated highschool in 2018 but I’ve been training and working for this moment and now I’m 22 do you think I waited too late or do you think I should still tryout be completely honest bro honest opinion
It just depends if you have eligibility left. If you are JUST now enrolling in college for the first time and have eligibility then yeah you can try out. If not then yeah you waited too long. I've seen older kids make it before, so my opinion doesn't really matter lol. If it doesn't work, pick a new goal and go get after it
I transferred to OSU this semester. I transferred from a D1 FCS school in Ohio where I was a preferred walk on. I am a kicker and I can’t really find information about what I’ll be expected to do. Do you have an idea of what specialists will do?
So I have a question it’s kinda of confusing, everyone usually says for a walk on to try out it has to be around winter to spring but what if I was going to a community college for a year or starting in the fall I wouldn’t transfer to the school with a team until that next year which would be fall so would I have to wait till the seasons over and tryout as a sophomore going on as a jr ? And I was going to community just to get my feet wet in college n get my body right so if I wanted to try out I can be the best at my ability
Depends on your school ask them, and yeah you can't tryout until you're enrolled at that college and they usually have them once MAYBE twice a year max if they need people
You guys are great. I lost my senior season of football because of COVID, and it would have been a huge year for me because I didn’t start playing until I was a JR. I’m going to Miami next year, and I’m looking to walk on. Any advice on the best way to get noticed by coaches?
I would've had to attend and pay for school another year once we already graduated (taking unnecessary classes) + complications with eligibility and applying for another year + other life goals beyond football and being ready to chase the next goal
Just got out of the military not to long ago and have thought about nothing but playing football again. From my understanding I have roughly 3 years of eligibility left....but I just turned 26 last month. Am I wasting my time with trying to walk on just because of my age?
I had a military friend who at 26 years old walked on with me! (shoutout Mike Blanton) so no it's not too late as LONG as you have eligibility and are enrolled in the college you're trying to walkon at. Goodluck my man!
I’m also a veteran thinking about walking on. I know military service freezes your clock but does that apply to reservists or national guard. I’m in my last year of service, also 24 now and I don’t know how much eligibility I have left. Help!!!😁
as long as you're eligible you got a shot! Just keep in mind if it doesn't work out, you can still channel that motivation and go use it on the next goal
clay raterman ok cool thanks you played with my cousin Tracey sprinkle. And a guy I used to train when he was in high school Von Bell. Keep posting my man
clay raterman you made it as a sophomore? I was thinking of trying here at UTEP but if I weren’t to make it idk if they’d want to take a junior, was just curious thanks for answering
@@J_Caban They won't care what age you are they care about the skill. Sure being younger offers advantage but doesn't matter much. If you're going to try, go try...don't count yourself out before the tryout even starts

U trying out next year?
Kinda stupid choice
Ya'll are speaking facts. I had re-motivate myself everyday!
That "control what you can control" piece is key.. throughout life.
You know it...Gotta truly be living in the present moment and take it one day at a time!!
Currently at Nebraska rn, looking to walk-on this winter. Preciate the advise guys 🙌🏻
Go make it happen!!

The walk on bible 🙏🏽
antcane296 Clay and I appreciate you following along! Let us know if you have any questions or ideas for future content!
Did either of you ever get to play in a game , that school is huge
antcane296 they both did
We were both fortunate enough to see some in-game action! Memories that will stick with us forever.
What are y’all thoughts on frats? We’re y’all ever in one?
nah - if you play football you don't really have the time or need to be in one for any social reasons either lol

probably similar to what happens at a kicking camp
if i walkon in the fall what are the chances i get to see on field action that season
depends on the school, what they need. how good you are, etc....but very very very low to almost zero if you're at a good D1 program.

fast 40 yard dash!
Yeah fs bro have speed bro Bc speed kills and have strength
How come y’all didn’t decide to play a grad year?

Yo man, up to you, but with those arms, I hereby nominate you for bodybuilding lol.
Haha appreciate it!
Can you play for another college's football team while being enrolled at another college?
nope
Did you guys walk on your freshmen year? And how many years total did you guys play for tOSU?
nope we didn't and we played for OSU not clemson!
oh you edited it nevermind!
