We can't get surgical bouffant hats right now, so we all need to start making our own hats as soon as possible. I think your pattern might work! Thank you for offering free instructions and drafting. You make so much more sense than many other instructors!
This one might also work, you could of course skip the waterproofing and use cotton fabric instead of silk. ruclips.net/video/AkfdGSgLonM/видео.html Also if you let sewing people in your area know, I bet there are people who would be happy to make them.
Super easy to follow. I also checked her blog for the pattern and it's amazing...beanie in different sizes, picture guide with on point steps. Thanks for rescuing me from SOS :-)
This is an awesome hat. Something that is quick and easy. Fun to make and fun to give to family and friends. I love it. jellosy- you gave me a great idea. I've been giving away a lot of clothes/tee shirts I've outgrown/lost weight and now, I wish I had them. Going to stop giving them away and make the beany hat. Hah!
I didn't have any stretchy fabric, so I used flannel and it turned out great! Thank you for the pattern and the amazing tutorial :D I wish I could send photo comments so I could show you how great it turned out.
HI, I'm confused at the beginning when it's asking for 1/4 of the head cir can you explain to me how you cut yours?. I wish it was shown how she cut it out.
Brilliant pattern. Thanks for sharing this. fyi - I created the pattern on tracing paper - so I did not have to flip and turn. Just measured on all corners.
I had fun making some of these...the only thing I didn't like is the squared off corners (looks almost like cat ears). I'll have to round them out. But this is truly a 10 minute craft.
Hi Melly: Do you have any videos how to use flannel cloth to sew a beanie? I can only find fleece and I happen to have 6 yards of flannel. Thanks, Debbie in Central Oregon
The blog post linked in the description gives instructions to draft your own or you can purchase the pattern here blankslatepatterns.com/products/slouchy-beanie-hat
+Ana Paula Beato Storti Gramatico Yes if the fleece stretches. You may also want to add a little width to your pattern to account for the bulk of fleece compared to knit fabric.
+MrsRemenda Yes, I understand what you're saying, but if you do it with just half you'll have exposed seams inside and you'd have to hem the bottom edge. Plus you wouldn't be able to cuff it as shown without seeing the wrong side of the fabric.
+Mama3 It's not really in my plans; my best suggestion would be to try going slowly through the pattern instructions with a small piece of paper, just to understand how it works first.
Maybe my brain is mush after giving birth but not enough explaining. I ended up with a hat looking like Mickey Mouse that was 4 inches deep. My farts were great and I even pressed them, the other part was what gave me Mickey Mouse ears... not sure. It doesn’t say anywhere that each section should be the full length so I halfed it like you do the circumference. Tried making it for a toddler and it ended up fitting my small dog, ears and all lol
Wow! So great! I make this for my girlfriend on the 23rd and she loved it as a present!
What a nice gift!
WONDERFUL. ex cancer patient who often need to wear hats; will make one today; Thanks so much.
Thanks for watching!

Wow nice ! Going to try
Hope you enjoy
Pattern was super easy to make although the adult size was huge for my head 😂 going to try the kids size next
My head is smaller than the typical adult woman, so I don't use that size for myself. Knowing your own measurements is important.
I'm making this from a T-shirt that I accidentally butchered. Great use of otherwise useless fabric!
Great upcycling!
Awesome Video! Making for my grandson.

Wow! I'm surprised it fit if sewn in a non-stretch fabric.

I wish I would’ve find your channel sooner:)
well, you've found it now 🙂
I had fun making some of these...the only thing I didn't like is the squared off corners (looks almost like cat ears). I'll have to round them out. But this is truly a 10 minute craft.
Yes, rounding will make the hat more head-shaped and less square.
Hi Melly: Do you have any videos how to use flannel cloth to sew a beanie? I can only find fleece and I happen to have 6 yards of flannel. Thanks, Debbie in Central Oregon
flannel doesn’t stretch, so it’s not a good fabric for this style hat.
This has got be stumped a little..........how do I layout my fabric for cutting?
ignore that - I think I have worked it out! :)
Folded once horizontally and once vertically - Glad you figured it out!
Thanks for the help!!!pokemon beney here i come!
Thanks for watching!
These are so cute Melly 😁 tfs xx
+Live, Love & Learn Naturally Thanks!
Can this bonnet be achieved by using. Satin lining?
No, this is designed for stretch fabrics only. Here's a different cap for woven fabrics ruclips.net/video/AkfdGSgLonM/видео.html
Melly Sews great! Thanks so much for the quick response 🙂
You madam are talented
Thank you
By the way...genius pattern!!
Thank you!
Can't find the pattern on the blog.
The blog post linked in the description gives instructions to draft your own or you can purchase the pattern here blankslatepatterns.com/products/slouchy-beanie-hat
Idk how to make the pattern from the instructions yup reading it. Is there a video on it? Thank you.
The post linked in the description has the instructions for drawing the pattern or an option to buy the pattern already drawn for you.
Melly Sews Yeah I know I had seen it but didn't understand it. Thats why I asked if there was a video. That shows more hands on like this tutorial.
Nope, that's why I have the option to buy the pattern where all you have to do is print it out.
@@Mellysews there's no link for the pattern or maybe not anymore...?
Link is in the description still R Brown.
did you make the top you have on? its cool with the cowl neckline. nice hat instructions
No, it's vintage 1970s from my mom's closet :)
so cool you maybe you could create a pattern for that. Have fun sewing. Judy
I made this hat twice and somehow have ended up with cat ears on the top. what am I doing wrong?
How do I modify this pattern to make it lined with another fabric?
You'd need to cut the bottom half off, add seam allowances, then cut the two halves out of differenct fabrics and sew them together before proceeding.
Thanks! Also, where can I find those fabrics?
Nice
Thanks
HEY Y'ALL 😂 kidding, thanks for sharing
Pls how do i take the measurement for this hat
There's a diagram in the blog post linked in the video description.
hi may i know the measurement of the fabric
Measurements are in the blog post linked in the video description.
Can I make this by hand ( without sewing machine) for the same results?
I haven't tried that.
Actually you can do it with a few items that are not sewing machines and doesn't have to be that expensive
Thank you guys :)
Where did you get the pattern
the blog post linked in the description explains how to draft it.
do you have a pdf pattern for this?
What if I wanted to make a different fabric for the liner??
You'd cut the pattern only on one fold and then add a seam allowance to the bottom.
what type of material did you use for your hat?
Knit jersey.
Where do I get the pattern?
The post linked in the video description has options to buy the pattern or instructions to draft it yourself.
I cant find instructions for sizes anywhere:(
The blog post link is in the description of the video.
what fabric did you use? Or recommend?
Jersey knit.
I don't see the link for the measurements
It's in the description below the video; you might have to look for a dropdown arrow or "See More" depending on your device.
Can this be made from fleece
+Sharyn Lowenkamp if it has at least 20% stretch.
thanks. I'm working on your padded camera bag right now.
can I make it with fleece?
+Ana Paula Beato Storti Gramatico Yes if the fleece stretches. You may also want to add a little width to your pattern to account for the bulk of fleece compared to knit fabric.
Is it possible to do this pattern with just half the fabric...so it's not doubled up? Does that make sense? Lol.
+MrsRemenda Yes, I understand what you're saying, but if you do it with just half you'll have exposed seams inside and you'd have to hem the bottom edge. Plus you wouldn't be able to cuff it as shown without seeing the wrong side of the fabric.
+Melly Sews j
how would you add a pom pom, before or after?
I'd do it after
There is no link

Well if you halved the measurements I gave, you'd end up with a hat half the size of the one I made.
Melly Sews yes, that’s exactly what happened. Not farts DARTS lol!!
where can I get thr pattern for the beanie?
