    Thanks so much for posting this. I've been replacing the deck belt on my yard bug from the top. it had been tearing up belts, but watching this, i saw that the cover over the deck pulley has a guide under it. I saw the one guide on the engagement arm, and thought that was it. I was routing the pulley on the wrong side of the guide. I'd never noticed it before.
    Thanks!!

    Great Video.. guided me through replacing the belts on my White Yard bug. Biggest pain in the butt was getting the Engine pulley off, suggestion make sure to remove the old belts once belts are removed the pulley came off easy. Thanks again for the Video

    Sir, do you know where I can get a service manual for the ladybug mower? I need to adjust something in the pedal assembly to get the mower to go in reverse, I replaced the damaged cable, and with engine not running it will go into both fwd and rev meaning you cannot push the mower as its in gear ,however when running it occasionally will drive in rev, but most times it will not ,and when appw the Go pedal you can hear pullys turning but wont move in reverse. forward has no problems.

    Question, If you're replacing belts, why not just sawzall them off instead of removing every pulley? Then just remove 1 or 2 to get it back on?

    Does the pulley off the engine that drives the Deck move up and down when you raise and lower the deck? It seems to not be even with the deck pulley on a high setting.

    I just picked up a Craftsman DRM 500 (same thing as a Yard Bug) and when I put it in gear and drive, there's a lot of smoke coming from underneath (must be a belt). Do you know why this would be happening? Could the belt just be worn, or maybe the guy routed it the wrong way? It moves, but smokes. It's not engine smoke. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

    • @JeffsLittleEngineService
      @JeffsLittleEngineService  8 лет назад +1

      I would bet that the belt is not inside the "keepers" by the pulleys. Or a bad bearing somewhere..

    • @andrewchristiansen8311
      @andrewchristiansen8311 Год назад

      Its on the transmission. Two cables go from the lever to the transmission. Go to the transmission and see if it moves both ways. If it does you just need a knew cable. You can use just about any generic mower Z-cable.

    Can anyone tell me why the idler pully had to be taken off? it looked to me like the belt just slips out of it. Sorry but I'm a 79 yr old woman who has to do her own repairs as I have no one to help me. The same for the other pullys..... can't the belts be slipped on and off without removing the pullys? It's my transmission pully which needs replacing, I think. I was mowing when suddenly the Bug would not go forward tho' the motor was running just fine. I looked behind me and saw a belt laying on the grass. Luckily I had ordered all of the replacement belts for the mower a couple of year ago, so I'm okay there. I just want to know the easiest way to replace the belts without taking everything off the mower. Is that possible?

    • @JeffsLittleEngineService
      @JeffsLittleEngineService  4 года назад +1

      sometimes you can slip the belt around the pulley without removing, sometimes not

    I have a broken gear cable on my yard bug.Seems near impossible to take off transmission due to its inaccessibility- do you have to remove transmission, I hope not, is that the only way to do job.Any advice would be geatly appreciated.

      i used a piece of bailing wire with a hook bent on the end to reach in from the back of the machine and pull the cable out of its position. where the cable disappears on you has 2 bolts you can remove to pull the cable bracket and open up a little space, long needle nose pliers might help get the new one guided in, i used my big hands and got lucky, i replaced both trans cables in 22 minutes having never done it before. BTW, both cables are the same part number, i recommend buying and changing both while youre in there and keep the good one you remove for a spare. Good luck.
