I have a 70' nova, street legal, was a super pro class winner in the day! Boring automatic, trans brake, two step, throttle stop etc, ran 10: 80s @120 m.p.h. I'm a sick shift guy,,, so I converted it to a super t-10 scattershild, ram 850 h.p. clutch! GUESS WHAT' 10: 49 @ 129 M.P.H. AND IT'S CONSISTENT AS HELL' I NEVER LET OFF BETWEEN GEARS, AND SHIFT @ 8-K. Wheels up! I've owned many of stick cars over the year's, and I feel like a kid again everytime I drive my stick cars!
You are one of the most precise gear jammers I've seen. At first it was so perfect I thought it was an inline shifter. NOPE! H-pattern. You rock! I LOVE the sound of the stone crusher. I had a 70 SS 454 Chevelle that had one and I miss that sound so much. Thanks for the ride!!
Watched numerous times too! Reminds me of my first car! A '62 Impala with a built 327, Muncie 4 spd, and a 4:56 rear...what a wild ride it was!!! God I miss it!!!
We had a big block Nova with a verdigate shifter lt had 2 rings that you pulled up to shift into first and the rest of the gears you just slammed straight back and forth. Reverse you put the shifter in neutral and put a separate small shifter in reverse .slamming gears is just so satisfying .
That looks like probly one of the most fun to drive drag cars in the world. The four speed makes it so much cooler than an auto, especially powerglides. So cool reeling in the car in the other lane. I used to scoff at 1/8th mile drag racing but if I had a 1/8th track within hour and a half drive I'd do it. I live in southern CT so English town, Lebbanon Vally and New England Dragway are all about 2 and a half hour drive from home.
A Muncie will take it a few times..but eventually..good transmission until..constantly banging it..I've seen mainshft stripped allgears..case cracked 65 impala 308 reared..built 327..exploded muncie
Holy Shny-kee Batman! M22 and someone that knows how to use it. It doesn't get much better than this! Great video. Do you have an exterior/strip view of this as well?
AWESOME!!! Great Vid!!! I am a BIG Gearjammers fan. I just wish I was living in the South again so I could go to the races. Hope to be back in a few years. I will be going to these races.
can you please comment on what flywheel, clutch and Trans combo you are running in this awesome shoebox. I'm currently setting up a 4 speed and have a Mcleod RXT twin disc with a Muncie M20, bad slipping on launch and high RPM any help would be much appreciated!!
Vibration near the end of the run - you need to check your drive shaft balance and U-joints. I had that once and nearly tore the car apart when the rear u-joint let go near the end of the 1/4 mile. Drive shaft loop didn't do any good.
I wish I was there or driving your 55. Was that 3 wheelies or 2? Do you remember what ET on this video and what engine too? Thank you I was in behind your camera! My heart is racing just little. For 4 years I had drag racing the middle 1970s. I loved that! So Thank you for your posting your video!
After watching hundreds of drag race vids I found my favorite.
If you've never been to a gasser meet, you really should. Those pedal to the metal 1/8th mile runs are just wild.

I would not think A M22 Muncie would hold that abuse.
Sooo awesome. Thx bud!
love the shifting, hit second in the air.

She is no slouch! Got some mean pull in 4th for an NA motor. What's the setup?
love it when a four speed car sees nothing but sky on the launch.

Wonder how fast it ran
I had a 62 impala, 3sp over drive, 283 bored out to 301, and 3 dueces. She was quick, and fun to drive.

Now that’s power shifting at its best.
What's the drivetrain/engine combo? Don't have to go into great details but would like to know for a 56 Buick build . PM me if you would. Thx

Crowd Pleaser?
MAN was that a great start, and a perfect run!
That’s wicked man I’m a ford man but love those 55 chevys especially when they can run like yours that’s got to be a 6.20-1/8
Cheetah caught up to his prey
nothin more finer than a '55 chev, but man, you just made it even sweeter. must be alot of fun to drive
Just your everyday grocery getter : NOT!!
Man! My dream car.

1/8 or 1/4?
AWESOME!!! Great Vid!!!

By the whine, I'd say the trans is an M22. Don't know what clutch or flywheel he's running.
If the 20 has the big countershaft pin it may hold up I've broke em all so far but the m21 double ring is pretty darn tough.
How do you like the rat twin disc been pondering on purchasing that one myself
Just like that.
Awesome Killer Vid ... Thanks for the Ride .
Great driving.
According to the timer, looks like a 6.5 second run. FAST!
Who needs Viagara when you have that.
Which transmission is this please?
Thanks for the inspiration. ready to go manual now!

wow never heard of that but it sounds like a smart mans fix, thanks for sharing buddy
Wow what a ride that was! Very nice thanks brother!!!
Sweet noise to my ears! Thanx for posting!
brings back the days of modified production at E-town
What’s e town?
that was awesome! Nothing touches the rush you feel in a stick shift drag car comin off that two step and rowin them! nice!
Tesla didn't include the fun/real part of life

Dam that's one bad ass chevy
this demonstrates why old American muscle is king
Same sounds we heard in Two Lane Blacktop.
REAL RACE CARS HAVE THREE PEDALS!
Dude I love your car! She rocks!
1/8 mile?
Two
Lane
Blacktop
... I watch this in the morning with coffee... then drive to work light to light like a maniac....lol
i love seeing these things being brought back to life
Real race cars have 3 pedals
what makes you say it would be a m22? just curious,,,
This dude can shift!
Bill Capone...Yeah,,especially since its a in-line shifter and not H-pattern....
Nothing to it
This reminds me of the end scene from the movie Two-Lane Blacktop but much much faster.
Fuckin A!
This car is moving out, i would say it runs in the high 5... 1/8 mile
sweet in car video
yea,as in half of a quarter mile track
It’s basically me when I drive my truck lmao
love a 55 on a stick cool car..
Too fuckin cool man. You're my hero
What,s that sign on the dash say?,,,just wonderin,,love 55 Chevy animals,,angry!!!
Looks like 'Ya squeeze, ya love'.
Hotter than a four balled tomcat.
That was BAD ASS
Very nice pass!!!👍
TOTAL BAD ASS
Neat car, but keep in mind, this is an 1/8th mile track, not 1/4. Probably a 10-11 second qtr mile car, if it was geared for it.
sweetness...go for it!
F ya!
That was fun thanks. I can't wait for spring now LOL
