The similarities between the images of the past with the current homeless situation are stark but I think the combination of drug addiction and well meaning government handouts is a big difference. Everyone of the people in the dust bowl photos wanted to work and would do any job offered.
The word PRIVILEGED didn't exist in those days and everybody worked or they didn't eat...People also came together and made things work without taking from others
The roads at that time were the lifeblood of the country Even being dirt, they moved people, animals and cargo. If you can find any pictures, how about a video of the roads going out West, with the potholes, mudholes, desert, long straight stretches', over the mountains,, anything you can find.
Those people are extolled as strong and scrappy while the homeless today are vilified as lazy and no good, even though it's impossible to support yourself even if you have a job these days and most people have to have more than one.
THERE ARE ONLY 2 REASONS THEY HAD AND KEPT CARS- 1. TUBE TIRES they could repair themselves. 2. Oil bath air cleaners...to keep the engine clean I still use and sell oil bath air cleaners, and they are pricey.
