What reptile products can you not live without!?
I’ve only got one reptile but I bought some aluminum foil tape because my heat mat wasn’t sticking to the tank... life saver
Feeder insects...
Front opening enclosures 😂
Infrared thermometer gun
Reptiles. Its hard to spend money on pets when you don't have any.
Me: owns no reptiles
Also me: ahhh yes calcium dishes
HAHAHAHA!
My Willow's (leopard gecko) calcium dish is an adorable little leaf shaped porcelain condiment dish I found on Amazon. I couldn't resist the cuteness.
@@WickensWickedReptiles would a 6x2x2 enclosure be too big for a bearded dragon. Someone on OfferUp is selling a 6x2x2 cage for 220 and 4x2x2 for 120
@@Cinnamontoastcrunch1029 There is no too big.
@@Cinnamontoastcrunch1029 its an animal dude. It lived in the wild, well not that one specifically but its species
Oooh, the money-saving substitutes for reptile products would be a great video!
Coming soon!
@@WickensWickedReptiles well be waiting lol
Definitely waiting on that one (:
100% agree!
i definitely agree, would love to see it
“I can make a video about that if you want”
Yes, we always want.
Don't ask ridiculous questions.
JC is correct. Fans are a very want-y group.
Oh PLEASE do a hacks video on things that are overpriced. I HATE that I can get a fake plant for like $5 at target but when it's suddenly "for reptiles" the same exact fake plant is now $20.
I’m so confused to why you aren’t a more popular reptile channel
Its because he mostly does lists. Although this isn't a bad thing, it takes away from of his potential audience.
@@maybeforgetful4732 SO TRUE
I use créme brûlée dishes for my geckos. High white allows them to easily see worms, ceramic so worms can’t climb sides, sides are extremely short so gecko has 0 issue accessing the bowl from any angle, your gecko will appreciate being able climb in their bowl. They cost a couple dollars lmao.
ramekins?
@@treeonatreadmill7168 not quite, too high of sides, short sided créme brûlée dishes.
@@treeonatreadmill7168 I use ramekins lol it’s basically the same
That's what I use for worm dishes
And you have the added extra of having a nice créme brûlée

I'm in the UK, so when you said the Kages were 50lb and 22lb I I really excited thinking you meant £50 and £22.
The dream haha
Pain. Lol
Lol that's great! I mean... it's not... it's just... I TOTALLY could see myself doing the same thing 🤣😂
I just did the exact same thing, I was like "wow £22 for an enclosure??"
The I own no reptiles but im obsessed with reptile channels list
1) this guy
2) snake discovery
3) goherping
Agree completely, with #1 and #2 Adam, I the one I watch all the time....
I'm actually the same, those are the only channels i watch but i don't have a reptile
Clint’s Reptiles
Same but I have a leo
goherping is overrated. he charges way too much for the animals to adopt them out
I love the Stroodies bubble nests and washable feeding cups for my morning geckos. They make neat things for crested geckos (an other similar species) as well.
that's awesome!
I love the mini stroodies for my mourning geckos! I bought 7 a little while ago and I think I’m going to get another set for my growing colony. ^^
100% support a hacks/cheaper items vid! Given the sheer size of my enclosure for my iggy.. always down for ways to save a few dollars.
This video is awesome! I'm early for once 🤣 Oh and you're one of the only reasons I was able to get my beardie that you see in my profile picture. You helped me to get quite a bit of information! Also, your Discord server is so fun and filled with so many nice, fun people! 😁
That is awesome!
I really appreciate and like the way you are vehemently repeating "make sure you know what you are doing before you do this". Unfortunately a lot of people need to hear that... a lot.
Thank you for the laugh. 😄
I know right? He repeated it so often 😂😂 I was laughing by the end of that segment
@@allyterps9223You would think it would be common sense to research what you're working with before doing something, (Even just a cursory glance at a how-to or something.)Or at least take very basic safety precautions. Basic common sense things. But nowadays it really should be called uncommon sense.
Though it does give the rest of a laugh out of it so, maybe it evens out...?...
I think a video comparing different PVC enclosures could be really cool. Like you have your really cheap Animal Plastics brand all the way to the hyper expensive Vision Cages, but how different are they really? (And all in between)
Definitely love my Kages!!
Same!!!
I can concur
After seeing these videos, it encourages me to get a reptile and know the basic care. I'm interested in getting a Crested Gecko and the care video on them was awesome! All of your videos are great!
That's awesome!
I’m interested in seeing a vid on reptile hacks! As well as maybe an updated care guide to Jeweled Lacerta😁
Your almost at 100k I’ve been here for so long to see you grow. I got a crested gecko because of you
thank you so much!!
Recently finished building my first Kages enclosure, and I gotta say one obvious benefit I've seen already is that it's a lot easier to maintain higher temperatures over a larger portion of the enclosure than it is with glass enclosures. I'm hoping this will help end the hunger strike my plains hognose has been on.
I love my Kages enclosure too!
I just set up an enclosure for a jumping spider i'm getting soon and found out that the things I bought were worth my money and then I see you uploaded this😂 Great video, Adam!
That is awesome!
Arcadia deep heat projectors....use for all my reptiles and love how they never feel cold anymore even when they have been on the cool side for awhile.
I love that product too
My wife has a Leopard gecko she got from Geckopia, and I have a crocodile skink from them. We use a few of their products and they're all really well made! Customer service is amazing and their animals are really well taken care of!
Not trying to shill too hard but I highly recommend Geckopia for both animals AND some supplies!
Omg I want one (more likely, a few lol) of his black night geckos sooo bad lol
Your Bearded dragon is the most adorable, so loving. Awe❤️
By far my favorite channel of all genres combined!!
Your list is puzzling to me. You need that gecko cup thingee more than temp gun?
1. Temp Gun
2. T5 Fluorescent fixture
3. Deep Heat Projector
4. PVC Enclosures (I have Kages too, we agree)
5. Plastic Tubs for insect colonies
Can you make a video all about pvc enclosures and which brands are best (:
Your mention of Geckopia sent me to their website and I just ordered $60 of gecko goodies for my new gecko enclosure. Thanks for the tip!
Geckopia is seriously underrated! Have you checked out their new products?? I'm finally placing an order today also :)
Top 5 things you shouldn’t spend your money on:
1. Heat rocks
2. Calcium sand (most reptiles will die if they have sand in their enclosure and calcium sand is even worse)
3. Reptile carpet (depends on the reptile and it’s super rare but could rip it’s claw out)
4. Candles
5. Spiders, ticks, centipedes, millipedes, scorpions, and fireflies. Don’t know why someone would fead them these but some people probably do
Walnut bedding (I forget the actual name) is another awful one. Really sharp.
@@realchiknuggets ya. Could be an honorable mention
Candles 🤔🤔
@@wheelsx1823 With fragrances (scents) anyway, but idk about just the normal carbon from the fire
@@wheelsx1823 number 4
The only MVB I ever recommend is the Mega-Ray, it is by far the best bulb on the planet! And it is the only ones I use on my turtle tanks and monitor enclosures.
Great video adam😁 I have definitely made that mistake with buying things I don't actually need😂
You and me both!
Same
Well this is a nice worth it Wicken video, cause Wicken is just that cool and good person.
Definitely would love a video on a DIY heat tape and a how to tutorial it be extremely helpful.
Mercury Vapor Bulbs have been shown to produce wildly dangerous levels of UVB from time to time. Dr. Frances Baines recorded her findings of the largest three manufacturers of MVBs and I there were multiple recordings of over 10.0. Definitely requires a solarmeter 6.2 if you plan on using an MVB. These bulbs are wildly inconsistent, especially the off-brand chinese manufactured ones
this is why I put the disclaimer to test the bulbs
I would like to have a hacks video and the waste of money video! Both would be a really great help! Awesome video!
will do for sure!
Could you do a video on Deep Heat Projectors/bearded dragon lighting in a 4x2x2 Kages enclosure.
for sure
I'm getting ready to upgrade my FL King snake's enclosure. When I first got her I made the mistake of getting a glass, top opening one which I now know was a bad choice. Kages is my top contender...
Great video! I think a video about reptile products not worth your money would be also interesting.
Noted!
PLEASEEEE DO A VIDEO ON TRICKS TO GET THINGS CHEAPER
for sure I will
The secret ingredient is theft 😈
Jk please don't do that.
@@RC-bs6eb oh my goodness😂 I actually laughed out loud
So, send 120V through uninsulated conductors? I'd like to learn more as to how this is done safely.
Used to have a combi-bulb but found their inability to work with a thermostat really frustrating. Switched to a more traditional heat lamp/UV strip set-up. Although tbf I have a Horsfield & they’re not exactly known for basking aside for a couple of minutes after feeding.
Lots of animals benefit from uvb, even if they're nocturnal they might bask cryptically.
do a video on the best enclosures for tegus and savanna monitors
Hey Adam, cool channel! Can’t stop watching your videos keep it up man
Did you end up making a video about wiring the heat tape cause I would love to see that it’s the only reason I haven’t gotten heat tape.

@@WickensWickedReptiles thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
Clear, concise and straightforward videos. Thanks
My favorite find for our crested geckos was Beer Savers silicone caps as dishes. I'm able to let the excess food dry then simply pinch the bowl to save the "fruit leather" for our dubias/mealworms. After a good soak I throw them in my clothes washing machine with bleach (and an extra rinse). No more individually washing little dishes! Love those things.
Feel free to make all the mentioned videos -- we will watch it all!
That's a brilliant "hack," going to have to check them out. Thanks!
Nice videos mate. Do you have any crested gecko s in your collection?
Yes I have three :)
Definitely going for a PVC enclosure for my future ball python, I see so many people recommending them! I honestly kinda like the look of the ''black generic'' ones too.
PVCs are amazing
Hey did u ever make a hack video on where to get cheaper substrate
yep! - ruclips.net/video/lM72JqiCl0k/видео.html
I find in florida where I’m trying to get rid of humidity Atleast a screen lid is a necessity because it lets humidity put as my bulbs evaporate water
Wish I had known about this before I went and spent lots of money for reptile stuff! Very Usefull !
Glad I could help!
Your videos are always great! Thank you for sharing!
How about a video on if an enclosure can be too big for a given reptile? Specifically I plan on making a custom large enclosure for a bci when it is still young, and I’m unsure if the big space when it’s still small could stress it out.
You can always try to section it off when it’s smaller
I would love the hack video on how to get stuff cheaper for your reptiles! I’m a college student really wanting a reptile and I’m on a budget🤣 Don’t worry, this won’t be an impulse buy!
Absolutely love this vid! Love seeing the tips, hacks, and good buys you find. Would 100% watch a vid on things not to buy as well ❤❤
Really interesting video. Thanks 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
And the plumbing tubing and vick's cool mist. Having that is very handy too.
There are some mercury vapor bulbs that can run off a ballast so you can lower the output but the ballasts can run a couple hundred
wicked!
Are pvc enclosures good for reptiles who need drier/arid setups? I.e. beardies, leopard geckos, uros, etc.? I’ve been wanting to go pvc because they are aesthetically pleasing to me. I guess my real question is, what reptiles are pvc enclosures maybe not the best option? Thanks!
I've kept my Beardie in a Kages PVC for two years, no issues yet :)
Great info in this video! I’ll have to have my husband watch it, especially where you say that your melamine enclosures aren’t holding up.
How do you suggest holding in humidity in a glass aquarium?
We have tape on the top but the humidity doesn’t last for the snakes.
cover half of the top of the screen lid :)
Real plants and Moss keep and produce humidity which is awesome. This will help keep the humidity a lot better.
I'm looking into either a leopard gecko or bearded dragon. Should I avoid petco and petsmart? People say I should find a better place
find a breeder and support them :)
It depends on your stores tbh. Really look at the overall health of their animals, and how clean their cages are specifically. Sometimes it's just not possible to get animals from a reputable breeder, but we're lucky to have very good pet stores where we live.
Awesome video!!!
Thanks for the visit
Would love to get my crested Gecko Monkey a PVC enclosure. My only downside is they never come pre-assembled. I'm completely blind and not terribly handy when it comes to building stuff, and the Exo Terras come pre-assembled. Even if they could just snap together like a bird cage, I'd look into it. But you always hear about you gotta screw stuff together, and then the screws and stuff would probably rust in a humid environment. Would totally pay for a PVC equivalent of a Exo Terra enclosure already together though.
well the screws are zinc so they do not rust. They are made to withstand 100% humidity. Super easy to assemble.
I ordered heat tape directly from Flexwatt because I saw all sorts of issues with shipping from Amazon sellers and the like. I will never order from them again, took WEEKS to finally get my order that was supposed to be shipped within 3 days. I had to contact them to find out what was going on. Each email response took 48-72 hours minimum to hear back... I ordered 11" because they were out of 6". They were out of 11" for months before I ordered, didn't update the site. Told them to send me anything, I need an incubator set up the week before. Three days later, I get the response, "okay, which would you like?" That was my experience, over and over again. If you can recommend a good tape for the future, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Animal Plastics makes fantastic pvc enclosures but the wait time is too long, but quality wise Animal Plastics enclosures are top notch 👌🏻
Yes! Heat tape!! Especially if used for baby racks.
totally agree about the pvc
As a cat owner I can relate to all the crap bought that is never used. I also buy stuff for my tarantulas and they never seem interested.
My sister has a super picky turtle, so my ball python has inherited a lot of aquatic decor, but he doesn’t seem to mind lol you just need to find someone with a very not picky pet
@@NicholeParker that's a great option..
Time to spring clean. 👍 And regift these toys etc
That app sounds AMAZING!!! I want to get into breeding in the future if I can and I 100% plan to try that out!
Can you ad the links to the websites you where talking about that have all these products I'm in Ontario and find it really hard to get good reptile equipment for my pets
it's all linked in the description
Those clamp connectors are used for heated floors. Carbon Heating Film Warm Flooring Copper Plating Silver Clamps Accessories
I have carpal tunnel in both wrists and not hooking up a mister doing so by hand was killing me wrists but this little sprayer works great(Conceptual Creations Mist'r Lizard Junior for Reptiles).
Omg such a big fan Adam u inspired me to get my first gecko it’s a lepord gecko
that's so awesome!
Yeah I would love a video on how to make a heatmat from heat tape.I used to be in an engineering class so that would be interesting to me atleast.
Finally a proper take on MVBs lol thank you for saying all that
1. Great video!
2. PLEASE make the money-saving tips/hacks! Would be awesome
3. You should totally make a video of things to stay away from, that would be helpful too!
Thanks for the idea!
Watching you for a while (love the vids) .. only just realized you've been sitting down the whole time
I want to try a mercury bulb but I can't afford a solarmeter, why do they have to be so expensive 😓
I'm super interested in the Triple Dish. Been checking them out online. But I have 12 leo's. And because I'm difficult, I'd like to get all my leo's one of these. So I'm saving up! 😁
Yes to all the video ideas
That Geckopia thing looks neat!
I’m always nervous that any coco fiber from the hardware store will have some undisclosed chemicals in it. It may not effect animals that are less sensitive, but I would never risk it with frogs
The crap from pet shops could easily have the same undisclosed chemicals. You'd never know.
@@RC-bs6eb you'd at least have a sort of warranty for coco fiber marketed specifically for use in reptile and amphibian habitats, I guess
The SensorPush monitoring system. A small unit is mounted inside an enclosure; it sends highly accurate temperature and humidity readings to a mobile phone. If you buy the Gateway as well, it connects to the internet, so one can check readings anywhere provided you have internet access. Not cheap, but an excellent oroduct.
If you can figure out the brand of the black pvc enclosures , I would definitely like to know those are nice!!
Kages. Link and discount code in the video description
Go for the ear Diamond! Go for it!
Crazy Diamond!
This video was really awesome! I'm planning on getting a ball python and I've figured out how to get everything I would need, except for a pvc enclosure... Where would you recommend buying one?
I'd like to see the how to on wiring the heat tape - did you make one?
Hey Adam. You should vlog! I think you have a super awesome personality, and it would come out well in that type of video.
How about that? I actually have the #1 item. 🤣
I have the Zen Habitats 4’x2’x2’ pvc enclosure. What won me over on this is the fact that I can buy and expansion part and add either a 2’x2’x2’ or another 4’x2’x2’ and make it bigger. I may never have to do that but, my new skink is super active and may enjoy the added floor space once they get bigger.
I like the Zen habitats and closures also. And thankfully they're coming up with some now that are much easier to assemble
Just ordered the mercury vapor bulb :) I also have the UVB tube already for my beardie but i thought this was a great idea since they are majority under their basking spot most of the day. Nice tip
Ok, so, when you say pvc, do you consider the long term effects on the animals? Are there different types of pvc? Like do we have to worry about the effects of plastics on animals, or are they just cool? I am constantly worried about the effects synthetic environments have on my animals. Like the tubing in my fishtail for instance, or my snakes plastic bowls. I'm sure someone is studying it.
Please don't think I'm insane, I just wonder if you breed animals that live in these environments will their offspring come out with more defects than ones not?
I often wonder if convince trumps health in these cases, because they look and act fine, but what are the effects we aren't seeing?
Oh god, I'm not trying to write a novel, but I hope someone can honestly help me in the right direction.
Thanks for the video. Very informative.
PVC is totally harmless to humans and animals
A video on how to build a rack system and or use heat tape would be greatly appreciated.
Love it!!!☺️🙌🏻 “Start with us from the gecko” 🤣🤣❤️
👀 I really want more snakes. I’m going to have to check out the PVC enclosures. I LOVE how those look especially considering they are stackable.
I've been reading mixed things about using under mount heat pads on PVC. Some say it won't work at all since PVC is an insulator. Do you use these on your PVC enclosures? I want to use them as base heating for a few snakes.
I would gladly enjoy a video on the heat tape, i didn't know it existed and it seems just perfect for DIY build
Genuine question but I thought Mercury Vapor Bulbs like Powersuns were bad/ not as strong? Everyone including some vets have told me to use only strips
You forgot number 2 😩😩😩
Nice man, where can i find one of those UV testers?
Would a sheet of kydex be good to make a closure out of? I have a lot of it.
