I want them to be a playable faction so bad. The idea of a massive mob of Hobbit rabble beating back the tide undead and chaos with nought but optimism, determination and 4000 calorie a day diet is hilarious.
They should definitely be in the game, but I'd love for them (and other minor factions like goblins) to be a unlockable faction, with their own intro. "Long have we thrived under the foot of the empire, but their heavy taxes on our tobacco have stunted our growth for too long! We will assemble the greatest rabble of bare-footed adventurers ever seen, and we will raid the larders of the our former masters, dine on beastman, and feed our crops the ashes of the undead! "O'no, o'no", they'll cry, "the Moot, the moot is coming!" ".
So sad that this small province that's brimming with farms and food does nothing special on the total warhammer campaign map, it's just a standard 3 building slot minor settlement. They should really make it unique in allowing it to have both a granary and a winery/ brewer special buildings to really 'spice' it up a bit *chuckle*.
I'm getting some hobbit vibes here haha... in western mythology the Saxons were one of the first to come up with halflings, they believed that they'd hide in forests and shoot arrows at unsuspecting travellers or play pranks on the misfortunate. Could we get a missing monster lore vid? They are by far my favourite aspect of war hammer!
Ogres: "We are hunger incarnate. Nothing can date the fire in our guts". Halflings: "Hold my jager". Tyranids: "More biomass" Halflings: "I SAID, HOLD MY FRAGGIN' JAGER!!!"
Never thought anything in Warhammer was in unironic need of being set to a Benny Hill theme. Seriously, who else wants to see a Lumpkin's Fighting Cocks movie?
Total War Warhammer faction; Mootland. Faction leader and Legendary Lord: "The Elder". No name, just The Elder. Every 10 turns there is an election of who Will rule, similar to how the White dwarf plays. Faction/Lord special perks: - gain +15 melee defence and +10 melee attack when battering within your own boarders. - +15% income from Industry. - +20 reputation with The empire, but -10 reputation with all the Elector Counts. - Starts as a vassal to The Empire (or at least defencive pact) Units are the Ones discussed in the video.
23:13 It sounds like all halflings have what's called a *"perfect pallet",* that is they can nearly pinpoint the exact amounts of spices or ingredients needed to create the most flavorful of dishes (would still require training, knowledge and experience to fully hone), that's a neat little gift they have. I could honesty see halflings appling this sharp sense of taste to other pursuits like alchemy or potion brewing.
It would be nice to see a pie cannon at work firing healing pies to friendly halfling units. I can think of a few city upgrades for a halfling city in the game. Terraced hills replacing walls with farmed terraces making attacks and sieges harder. Bolt holes: Increases the survival rate of hobbits if the city is attached: (low roofed tunnels that exclude the biggest foes). Labyrinth increases and up grades the bolt holes and reduces casualty rates if a city falls. Raiding hole: A hidden exit to allow attacks on enemy siege units. Trap larders increases enemy casualty rates even if the city is taken (the gobbies go in for the free food its a trap ) Affects low leadership units. Poisoned larder: up grades the the trap larders. (The scouts and Poles actually used this tactic on the vikings in the real world.) Great Kitchen: Better food and siege endurance. Where's a game designer when you need one.
Thinking more about this I could see a decent stand alone halfling army. The range of miniatures used by players that play halfling armies is amazing. There are a lot of people that seem to play halflings exclusively. I found Stocky pikemen. Pintsized halbarders. Slingers with rocks, magic gems potions (Not all warhammer though). One thing called the well fed giant. Several treefolk from the bloodbowl halfling team. Fox riders, ram riders=extra knock back. Ogers (already mentioned in the video. ) Hawk riders. All buffed with magic food of various kinds: endurance, moral. healing, dodge. Throw in some long legged human units. It seems there are twice as many halfling units than those listed in the lore book. Theme for armies that work are low melee damage, low range, but high accuracy, evasive and buffed to heal up and endure a long time.

So what you are saying is, the Moot has it's own tobacco based Innsmouth. Fantastic. No reason to worry until the people start having traits of tobacco.

Kameron Dula I meant that somewhere I heard that Halflings like to buy Ogre mercenaries and because of their cooking culture they get along pretty well.
As far as I know it's not that they 'like' them but that Ogre Maneaters (read mercenaries) fight for food and/or coin and as halflings are know to be famous, chefs maneaters often offer their services to them, but you'd probably never find a halfling in service to a Ogre Tyrant save for being a slave but the half-life (get it half-life - halfling, insanly funny I know) of a ogre slave is quite short as they are more live-stock then anything else.
If you have the old Ogre armybook there is a story of Ogres who raided the Moot and took a bunch of halflings for lunch. The Halflings cooked for their lives and essentially took up the same role as the Gnoblars have, which is being slaves that do chores and cook for Ogres. There is a player who themed his army around it somewhere. There was also a Halfling scout and cook in Mordheim you could hire and I'm pretty sure there is a Halfling thief in Warhammer Quest.
