i grew up in Mt view from 1960... Use to be a very poor town back then, with lots of open land and farms. It was great weather all year. It snowed in the early 60s once. No highway 85,280,-- 101 had a stop light at moffitt. Highschool use to be on castro street before El-camino. They use to have city sponsored fireworks at rengstorff park and easter eggs hunts. In the early 60s that had easter egg hunts at the old city hall on front grass at elma and castro on 101 side. Alma (central expressway) use to be tow lane and stopped at castro coming from north. Saw the movie fantastic voyage at the view theater on castro st-- 1960 something-- it was standing room only. There was a huge ice making factory along train tracks. Moffitt has planes running 24/7 watching the seas for submarines-- one crash in the golf course. Saint James was the best bear hall in the 70-80... man i had fun back then before every square inch of real estate was built out.. Oh yea,,, at Monta Loma elementary school they had and old jet in the playground,, and they use to burn school garbage in outdoor incinerator.. dam i had fun back then before it exploded.
I used to live there too! Now I moved (again) due to the crazy prices! I live in the East Coast now I hate it. Hope you're not going East.. too many bugs and ugly old buildings.
I should have took pictures.. there was a lumber yard at el-monte and el camino. And a huge gravel yard cement plant where the old mill use to be near san antonio and central.
@@Hkolncvbj3067 Meant no offense. It's an expression I have heard over the years. It's probably an abbreviation for "motherland" and is an affectionate term for one's country of origin.
Nice place to visit
Wonderful market how I wish I had a wonderful market like this to go to

cant you tell when people do not want to be filmed. I would get pissed with you.
I try to be as unobtrusive as possible, but it is a public place. Thanks for viewing.
Common picture for Russians. We have such farmer's markets every 100 meters.
You must miss "mother Russia." Never knew this about Russia.
@@retiredman2 Do you use "father USA" in your conversations?
